Maremma bears a surprising resemblance to Black Orchid even though they don’t share floral notes; the similarity is striking. This one is more feminine and sweet feeling more natural and less intriguing yet still dark and alluring with a silkier texture. You can detect the cacao and patchouli throughout its entire evolution. It’s sweet but not overwhelming making it perfect for fall and winter. The longevity is worthy of an extrait lasting 12+ hours and becoming richer and more chocolatey in the dry-down while still retaining that honeyed and fruity blend that keeps it creamy and sparkling. I’d say it’s like Black Orchid’s more refined feminine and natural cousin. And the bottle… it’s gorgeous.

I’m surprised to read so many comments claiming it smells like Tom Ford’s Black Orchid… I bought it today expecting that similarity but nope! MmmmmMaremma is fantastic fascinating evolving intense anything but discreet distinct fabulous and has an incredible projection. Not a hint of the similarity people talk about (at least on me) and that’s great because otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it. Don’t be afraid of its intense opening; let it settle and then you’ll discover the treasure inside that black square minimalist and simple bottle. 10 absolute for mmmmmMaremma!!!!
I was surprised to read so many comments saying it smells like Tom Ford’s Black Orchid… I bought it today, and when I tried it, my brain was ready to expect that similarity. But noooooo… mmmmmmmn! mmmmmmmMarema is great, fascinating, changing, intense, anything but discreet, distinct, fabulous, and with an incredible projection. Not a trace of what people say about the similarity (at least for me), and that’s good, because otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it. In Maremma, I find a very creamy blend of patchouli and sandalwood, paired with potent cocoa and sweet floral nuances. Overall, it smells a lot like Black Orchid; in fact, when I smell them separately, I struggle to tell them apart. However, when compared directly, there are clear differences: Maremma smells more natural and has better longevity than the latest versions of Black Orchid, which feel a bit watery with just average staying power. This is a must for lovers of the original Black Orchid. Scent: 9, Longevity: 9, Projection: 8, Value: 5, Versatility: 6, Originality: 6, Overall: 9.

It’s a dark, intense fragrance. The opening is an almost vintage floral dominated by ylang-ylang, which doesn’t quite work for me. After drying down (about 20 minutes), it transforms into a dense blend of cocoa (not chocolate) and honeyed patchouli, with a wet oud base; interestingly, if you sniff it well, beneath the wet wood you can detect the sweet, delicate woods of sandalwood and rosewood. The notes feel natural. It’s an elegant scent, perfect for a black-tie evening party. Very beautiful and super long-lasting (12+ hours). Heavy sillage.

Dupeolo Terenzi is the luxury dupe house that clones the original Black Orchid formula, taking advantage of how the newer versions have toned down the intensity.
