Les Frivolites smells feminine, but for a niche fragrance, it feels a bit simple and lacks depth. It opens with a bright raspberry note, shifts to a slightly musky blend of osmanthus and heliotrope, creating a sweet yet tart vibe that sometimes feels a bit plastic, though soft, before settling into a clean, gentle rose. It’s not the best, but that raspberry-and-flower evolution is interesting, even if it doesn’t last long and stays fairly basic. Not bad though; perfect for hot weather and it holds up well. Rating: 6.5/10. Tested from official sample.

Les Frivolites sounds more feminine, but I think it’s too simple and unambitious for a niche scent. It starts with a bright raspberry, evolves into a slightly powdery mix of osmanthus and heliotrope, resulting in a sweet and tart profile that occasionally feels plasticky but remains soft, ending with a clean, gentle rose. It’s not the best, but the raspberry-and-flower accord is interesting at first, even if it fades quickly and leaves a basic impression. Not bad, though; ideal for heat with decent staying power. Rating: 6.5/10. Tested from official sample.

For a Luca Maffei creation, I expected more. In short: it’s a childish, icy raspberry that lives up to its name—frivolous and synthetic, like nothing else. No projection, no longevity, no sillage. Escada, for example, pulls off similar or better notes without the pretension of being niche, like their ‘Sentiment.’ At €95 for 50 ml, it feels like a rip-off.
