Oh my god, what an incredible fragrance! There’s no comparison; maybe the closest is Un Jardin sur le Nil by Hermès. If I thought I knew what a green perfume was, this concept redefines it; it’s so strange and distinct that it’s hard to explain. First, the herbal notes emerge, giving way to fern—it’s like smelling pure green, wet earth. Just when you think it’s ending, the pistachio hits you, invading and electrifying. Then comes rosemary with great presence but without being overwhelming, giving it character. It’s a whole herbal experience. Here in Spain, it’s expensive, but it’s very different; not something to buy blind. Ideal for summer, spring, maybe autumn, during the day. Fresh by purity, it smells new. Lasts about 2 hours on clothes and 5-6 on skin.
You’re basically squeezing a lemon leaf; that’s what it smells like. It’s an informal perfume, perfect for summer and the beach.
The Cartier Rivières collection is weak—very weak. Not just in longevity, but the scents are generic and faint, bordering on pharmacy-like. They are pretty and smell good with a nice opening, but you can find similar ones at any drugstore for less. I won’t waste time with Allégresse and Insouciance; they smell 80% alike and dry down identically, like buying two bottles of the same perfume. Both smell like Elizabeth Arden. Luxuriance is the best in the line: a green opening like walking or dancing in a meadow (think Julie Andrews in ‘The Sound of Music’). Dried down, it smells like pistachio, a delight. On first spray, I thought, ‘wow, how refined this smells.’ Longevity is scarce to moderate, depending on the skin. I use it for day and summer, not spring. Would I buy it? Personally, yes, but only Luxuriance. Its clean green aroma conquers me more than its longevity. The other two are a definite no. Maybe my case is unique because Cartier is my favorite brand. I suggest testing before buying blind.
I’m not usually a huge fan of herbal perfumes, but I love this one. It smells fresh and herbal, with that nice scent of freshly cut, damp grass. As it dries down, you get a noticeable pistachio note that softens the scent into something delicious. The longevity isn’t the best, but the sillage is great. I absolutely loved it.
I’m not much of a fan of herbal perfumes, but I love this one. It smells fresh and herbal, with that nice aroma of freshly cut, damp grass. As it dries down, the pistachio note becomes noticeable and softens the scent, leaving a very pleasant smell. The longevity isn’t the best, though the sillage is good. I absolutely loved it.
Super fresh! Perfect for an intense summer day. It doesn’t project much, but it’s a fragrance that ‘is there’ without being intrusive. It requires reapplication during the day. It’s not listed in the notes, but I sense it starts as a pleasant, fresh cucumber aroma. I recommend it not as ‘the perfume’ but as a go-to to refresh you during the day. Insouciance from this same collection is superior in every way, but I’m not regretting the purchase at all.
Super fresh! Perfect for an intense summer day. It doesn’t project much, but it’s non-intrusive. It needs reapplication throughout the day. Although it’s not listed in the notes, I perceive it as a fresh cucumber scent. I recommend it as a refreshing all-rounder rather than a main perfume. Insouciance from the same collection is superior, but I’m not regretting this purchase at all.
Luxuriance is fresh, herbal, and aromatic, exquisitely refreshing on hot summer days. The green, minty notes of geranium and fern create that ‘cool herbal’ sensation, like smelling vegetation by a river in the woods, with resinous woods. It feels slightly more masculine than feminine to me, but I personally enjoy it very much. On the other hand, its longevity and sillage aren’t very good, so it must be applied generously. The quality and design of the bottle seem very elegant and true to Cartier; a ‘green luxury’ for my small collection.
Luxuriance is fresh, herbal, and aromatic—a delightful cooling sensation for hot summer days. The green, minty notes of geranium and fern create that ‘cool herbal’ vibe, like smelling vegetation by a river in the woods, with resinous wood undertones. It feels more masculine than feminine to me, but I really enjoy it. The longevity and sillage aren’t the best, so you need to apply it generously. The bottle is elegant and very Cartier; a green luxury for my collection.
