Perfumer
Vincent Ricord
Vincent comes from a family of perfumers established in Grasse, aware of the role of a perfumer from a very young age. “I was lucky enough to be born into a passionate environment.” Vincent had his first experience in perfumery during school placements where he spent a week in a perfumery laboratory in Grasse – the home of perfumery. “I fell in love with the atmosphere of the raw materials, listening to perfumers talk about their compositions and preparing for my upcoming trips to present new ideas around the world... I didn’t want the placement to end”.
After training as a perfumer, Vincent has worked at various fragrance houses in France and has a CV of more than 20 years of experience. He has also taught as a professor at the École Supérieure du Parfum in Paris.
Vincent Ricord joined CPL as Senior Perfumer in 2020, working from CPL’s creative hub in Paris for the divisions of Dubai, the United Kingdom and France.
Vincent enjoys the contrast of sharing ideas about projects and briefs with colleagues and clients, drawing inspiration from colors, artists, travel, food and music – the process is full of valuable information. He describes the creative process as: “Being in the intimacy of a blank sheet of paper and a pen, turning those emotions into a fragrance... It’s a magical moment”.
Outside of perfumery, Vincent is passionate about music, finding similarities with perfumery in how skills are honed over time so that you can create your own compositions. Both depend on skill, knowledge and practice. “When I need to compose a fragrance for a brand, I feel like a film music composer trying to find the perfect chord for a specific scene”.
In 2023, Vincent began working for TechnicoFlor.
