I don’t recall a launch that generated as many expectations as this new Cool Night, especially after the fiasco that was the Intense launch, and the low expectations for Poker Face, a decent perfume offered in poor packaging that didn’t meet expectations. This time, Ted Lapidus goes back to the old, familiar bottle of the classic Lapidus Pour Homme, which has generated so much satisfaction, but in a striking dark blue bottle that I imagine references nighttime situations, as its name suggests. The perfume itself has a beautiful fleshy, juicy opening with notes of very sweet pineapple, apple that I couldn’t define as green or red, and mandarin or sweet grapefruit, which will accompany the entire development of the scent. Subsequently, you’ll perceive the musk, some undefined note of rosemary or very synthetic oakmoss, to close with tonka bean. It’s worth clarifying that the perfume had quite different performance on a blotter versus my skin. On the blotter, I noticed the rosemary, oakmoss, and other aromatic notes more prominently, suggesting a scent more in line with the original DNA; keep this in mind and I recommend testing on skin before buying. The first two hours project quite a bit, then it settles close to the skin and behaves moderately, reminiscent of an EDP. It’s not the typical Ted Lapidus ‘bomb’ that sweeps everything away; this Cool Night has moderate behavior and longevity above average, being perceptible for more than 10 hours but very close to the skin. As its name suggests, it’s a night fragrance, although I feel it might fall short in very crowded places like clubs, bars, or pubs. Perfect for evening sport use and ideal for the office in informal situations. In summary and in my personal opinion, it’s a very good launch that comes to expand the brand’s portfolio.

The first thought that came to mind when I tried it was that they’ve given a twist toward modernity to the classic Pour Homme DNA, keeping some reminiscences but only in the background. What I see is a sweet, fruity/chypre scent with a leather touch; quite youthful compared to other Ted Lapidus proposals… Still, it feels like a mature aroma, it doesn’t touch ‘Invictus’ territory. It’s a very pleasant and versatile fragrance… Maybe they intended to make a ‘blue’ fragrance? It could be, or maybe I’m just influenced by the bottle color… but here it can be used for any occasion and climate. As for performance, it’s not a bomb; it fits current trends, lasting about 5-6 hours with average to low projection. It seems like a good, tasty, and versatile fragrance that won’t blow your mind, and might feel redundant if you have a large collection… Or, put another way, it could be a great all-rounder when you don’t know what to wear. The quality-to-price ratio is excellent, as always with Ted Lapidus (currently hard to find in Spain; when officially distributed, the price will surely drop to the usual range of under $30).

Never has a launch generated so much anticipation after the failures of Intense and Poker Face. Ted Lapidus uses the classic dark blue bottle, evoking the night. The opening is meaty and sweet: pineapple, apple, and mandarin that accompany the entire development. Then comes the musk, some rosemary or synthetic moss, and tonka bean. Watch out: the performance is very different on blotter versus skin; on blotter, the notes seem more aromatic, so test on skin before buying. It projects strongly for the first two hours, then drops to skin-level, with moderate longevity like an EDP, over 10 hours but discreet. It’s not a ‘bomb,’ perfect for evening sports or casual office wear. A great launch that expands the brand.

The idea is to modernize the classic DNA while keeping certain reminiscences in the base. It’s a sweet, fruity, and musky scent with a leather touch; quite youthful compared to other brand proposals, though still mature and far from being ‘Invicturiano.’ Very pleasant and versatile, perhaps a ‘blue’ fragrance due to the bottle, but suitable for any occasion and weather. Not a bomb, it lasts about 5-6 hours with medium/low projection. It’s a tasty and versatile fragrance that won’t turn heads, maybe redundant if you have a huge collection, but ideal as a go-to when you don’t know what to wear. Excellent value for money, hard to find in Spain, but sure to drop below €30 when it arrives officially.

Bravo, Ted Lapidus. With this fragrance, they’re finally in tune with the times, making a 180-degree turn from the classic Pour Homme, which as a flanker only shares the bottle and intensity. I was really surprised; the performance is exceptional, with lasting power and sillage typical of the brand. The note evolution is quite good for the price. Versatility is off the charts, showing off its charm in moderate climates and relaxed situations. Starts citrusy-fruity and slightly sharp, but after 10 minutes it settles down and takes on a sexier personality with tonka and lavender taking the lead. In short, highly recommended and perfect to wear whenever and wherever you want.

  6. I tried it in-store today. I expected something potent since it’s a flanker of the original Lapidus, but it’s more of a mix between Lapidus Sport and Polo Sport. It starts marine/salty, then settles into a classic aquatic scent with a retro 80s vibe. It dries down nicely with that initial fruity cocktail and lingering notes of musk and leather. Ideal for terraces or the beach at night, not so much for bars due to lack of projection. For daytime, better suited for fall or cool spring days. I do recommend it; it’s a nice fragrance, just don’t expect the original Lapidus (in fact, this feels more ‘Sport’). Note: I tested it on blotter, not on skin.

Bravo Ted Lapidus! It’s in tune with the times, giving a 180-degree turn to the classic Pour Homme, which only changes the bottle and intensity. I was surprised by the exceptional performance, longevity, and trail typical of the brand. Good evolution of notes for its price. Versatility is unmatched, with charm in temperate climates and relaxed situations. Citrus-fruity and slightly sharp at first, but within 10 minutes it calms down and gains a sexy personality thanks to the tonka and lavender. Highly recommended to wear whenever and wherever you want.

Citrus opening with bergamot, apple, might carry pineapple even if not declared, turning sweeter like a fruit cocktail, a bit of lavender, patchouli, sweet dry-down of tonka bean, and musk notes. 5 hours of longevity and you’ll need to reapply. Quite versatile, except maybe for extreme heat; works well for a temperate office, going out shopping, and why not an after-hours hang with friends. A masculine fragrance, and don’t expect an Aventus vibe; honestly, it’s not even close. Greetings from Chile.

My first bottle smelled incredible and lasted days on clothes, but the second was the opposite: terrible longevity, no sillage, and very soft. I wondered if I bought one refilled with water; I couldn’t believe how much it changed from bottle to bottle. Anyway, I’m going for the third one. Edit: I already bought the third one, and it smells better than I remembered. Definitely PERFUMON (lasts about 4-6 hours).

Finally, Ted Lapidus brings the violet note to his men’s fragrances. This is sexy, modern, and mature. Slightly fruity, citrusy, and woody, without being cloyingly sweet—a perfect balance between fruit and citrus. Lasting power is very good, and the projection is decent. For $12, I don’t think there’s another fragrance with these specs. Although it’s perfect for winter and fresh spring days. A total 10/10.

  12. It shares the same DNA as the classic Pour Homme, but this one is younger and fruitier; you can definitely taste the apple and pineapple. It’s creamy, slightly smoky, similar to Fursian or Rave Now, and for the price, it lasts over 8 hours—amazing. Ted Lapidus always delivers beasts, even if they’re toilet water. Just be careful with the sprays.

Hi everyone. Here’s my honest take: I like the scent, no need to overanalyze the ingredients, but I have a question. If I let it macerate, does the longevity and projection improve? If anyone has tried this and noticed a difference, I’d appreciate hearing about it since I’m planning to do the same.

  14. Pleasant scent, slightly fruity, masculine to me, but with very poor longevity. It fell short, lasting only about two hours on skin; it does linger on clothes though. So, apply it to your clothes for a better experience. Great for short outings, but it needs to be reapplied to last a full workday.

, I haven’t experienced any oxidation issues myself; it lasts about 5-6 hours. However, reading the reviews, I see a lot of inconsistency regarding performance. It would be surprising if Ted Lapidus reformulated something like this; maybe a specific batch just went wrong.

I loved it. It doesn’t smell like any Aventus. I see it as perfect for spring; it’s already getting hot in Chile by the afternoon, and this Cool Night pairs really well.
