Hot Couture by Givenchy is a floral fragrance for women. Launched in 2000, this composition was created by Alberto Morillas and Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. The top notes unfold with raspberry, bergamot, and orange; the heart reveals pepper, vetiver, and magnolia; while the base notes complete the olfactory pyramid with sandalwood, amber, and musk.

  • I owned this years ago; it’s one of Givenchy’s best. Sweet, surrounded by sandalwood, with the smoke very perceptible, giving it originality alongside the strawberry sweetness. The scent is subtle, soft, with moderate sillage, and lasts many hours. It worked well for me in both summer and winter: sweeter and fresher in summer, while the incense comes through more in winter. I’m sure I’ll get it again. Edit: This is for the EDP; I haven’t tried the EDT.

I think it’s very elegant, quite an adventure because it slowly reveals its ingredients: first fresh, floral, and fruity, then it shows its true form to prevail with a delicate amber, sandalwood, and incense aroma. Very pleasant. I wear it for night parties. A vintage scent in a bottle that evokes the past and modernity.

  • michellita

Pleasant when freshly applied, with a fruity-floral vibe, but later the musk and vetiver take over, reminding me of scents worn by older women.

Out of all the perfumes I’ve owned, Givenchy is the one that holds up best against beach weather and humidity. This fragrance was another miracle for my difficult skin; all the notes blended perfectly and everyone turned to look at me. A true gem that, unfortunately, was discontinued. I didn’t just smell individual notes; they all created a feast on my complicated pH balance.

  • I absolutely love the fruity notes, especially raspberry and bergamot at first application, but over time the musk, sandalwood, and pepper emerge, making it sexy and captivating. Ideal for women over 28 who are confident and elegant. The only thing is I’d love for the smoky touch to be a bit more subtle, though it does add mystery. Hot Couture lasts about 6 hours, has good projection, and a moderate sillage. I wear it all day, using it moderately in the summer afternoon. I’ve been using it for years and always get great compliments; people even ask for the name on the street. I’m totally head over heels for Hot Couture.

  • I used to love the Eau de Toilette version, but I couldn’t find it since it’s discontinued, so I bought Hot Couture, thinking it would be similar, but it’s not. With the EDT, I remember applying it and it lasted all day without changing (to me, it smelled like bubblegum and I loved it). Unlike this version, which becomes heavy, cloying, and bitter after a few hours, giving me an unpleasant sensation that makes me feel nauseous and gives me a headache. I don’t recall the EDT ever doing that to me. It’s a shame it’s no longer in production.

  • This fragrance could be called ‘Mademoiselle Givenchy’ due to its similarity to Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, among other mature and subtly seductive ladies. To my nose, it’s smoked raspberry (maybe blueberry) on sandalwood, coated in amber, with the perfect touch of vetiver and the warmth of orange. It’s not intrusive; it has the sillage and charm to seduce with femininity. Sweet without being cloying, fabulous and notable without being excessive. Long-lasting durability with a delicate, sexy, and elegant skin scent. It has to be in my collection!

This fragrance could easily be called ‘Mademoiselle Givenchy,’ similar to Chanel Coco Mademoiselle and other mature, subtly seductive scents. To my nose, it’s smoked raspberries (or maybe blueberries) on sandalwood, glazed with amber, perfectly accented by vetiver, and warmed by the rest of the ingredients (led by orange). It’s not intrusive or overwhelming, yet has the right sillage and charm to seduce with its femininity. Sweet without being cloying… fabulous and notable without being excessive. Its longevity is impressive, and the skin scent is delicately sexy yet elegant. It has to be in my collection!

A beautiful fragrance, now discontinued in Argentina… and that’s just terrible. The notes are so interesting <3 It's a shame it's gone forever :C

  • I’ve been looking for this for ages and finally got it. The opening is refreshingly vibrant: a soft, fizzy raspberry paired with a potent bergamot that, combined with vetiver, adds a bitter twist, making it sweet and sour for me. I barely detect the florals because sandalwood takes center stage, alongside amber and musk, giving it a smoky, woody, and leathery vibe. It’s perfect for cold weather, autumn, and winter, especially in the evening. Moderate sillage and long-lasting. A staple in my collection that I hope they don’t discontinue. It reminds me of Audrey Hepburn in an elegant updo, a sleeveless black dress, gloves, and a diamond necklace, smoking a long cigarette holder—sophisticated, mysterious, chic, sensual, and glamorous. That’s her… just like Hot Couture or vice versa.

  • Natalylopez

Similar to the eau de toilette but with a stronger, more mature scent—less fresh and girly. The pepper note is more prominent than in the toilette version, and it has great longevity. Personally, I prefer the eau de toilette.

  • ShiseidoTactics

At a friend’s request, wanting to know where to find it and how much it costs, I tried it and… it was delicious. I wish my partner smelled like this someday. It smells exactly like the notes describe, but to me, it reminds me of those refined Italian leather handbags that make us think of only one thing: A SOPHISTICATED BUT JOVIAL WOMAN. PS: I don’t remember if it was EDT or EDP, but according to what I read, there are both versions.

  • Too overpowering. I think it’s the raspberry and magnolia. Perfect for occasional use, on autumn or winter days.

  • It’s my personal signature. It lifts my spirits. Even though I wear other perfumes, I always return to my Hot Couture…

  • Mademoiselle

First time wearing this and it’s not what I expected. Upon spraying, I thought of fruit gum, but nothing like that. It starts with a spicy pepper note and a dry, earthy touch, probably vetiver, something I’ve never smelled like this before. After an hour, something sweet and acidic emerges, followed by raspberry to add brightness. The base stays dry with vetiver and powdery sandalwood. Hours later, the sweet raspberry and citrus notes, perhaps orange, take over, while the vetiver fades and amber becomes more noticeable. I love it for not being a typical sweet fruity scent; it’s mature, refined, and full of character. The only downside is it’s quite soft, but two or three sprays fix that.

  • Another masterpiece by Morillas. I adore it; it was my signature fragrance for a long time, and although I’m more of a flâneur now, I keep coming back to it every now and then. It has great character.

  • Another Morillas gem. I absolutely love it; it was my signature for years, and even though I’ve strayed elsewhere since, I always come back to it. It has an incredible personality.

  • VainillaDulce

Hot Couture is delicious: the sweetness of fruits, the elegance of sandalwood and amber, the freshness of vetiver, and the exoticism of spices. You can smell every note, though the ones that dominate on my skin are raspberry, sweet orange, sandalwood, and amber. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions because it always evolves: suddenly you feel the sweetness, then the spice kick, the elegance of sandalwood, or you jump from the warmth of amber to the cleanliness of vetiver. It’s one of my favorites; I’ve repurchased it several times. Its elegance is timeless, and its sillage and longevity are excellent.

Hot Couture is delicious: it has the sweetness of its fruits, the elegance of sandalwood and amber, the fresh touch of vetiver, and the exoticism of its spices. It has it all. You can smell every note, although on my skin, the raspberry, sweet orange, sandalwood, and amber predominate. It’s a whole rollercoaster that takes you through a thousand emotions because it always evolves: suddenly you feel the sweetness of the fruits, then the spice of the spices, the elegance of the sandalwood, or you jump from the warmth of the amber to the cleanliness of the vetiver. It’s one of my favorites, worn multiple times. Its elegance is timeless, and its projection and longevity are very good.

  • If you cut off my finger, I’m the one who loves strawberry, fruit, or raspberry perfumes. I liked this one. A very evident raspberry stood out. But it wasn’t acidic, sweet, or childish. It was luminous and very ethereal, as befits a minimalist fragrance from 2000. Hot Couture was a masterful woody scent: citrus raspberry at the top, cold in the middle with vetiver and amber in the base. The fruity aftertaste didn’t disappear; instead, it soaked into the rest of the notes until it became smoky, woody, with a hint of silk. The EDP bottle was a masterpiece and very uncomfortable: it stayed tilted almost in equilibrium on a small base, with a perceptible bevel to the touch, a twisted cap, and the body engraved in a style reminiscent of Russian avant-garde tinwork. It passed without much glory, and the concept was a mess. The wordplay between ‘hot’ and ‘haute,’ Eva Herzigova surrounded by invisible seamstress hands, needles decorating the box. At that time, McQueen was the creative director of Givenchy; I’m not surprised it might be his idea. I remember the day a friend, tired of everyone smelling like Ultraviolet, bought this. When she wanted to buy another, it was already gone.

  • I’d describe it as RASPBERRY: rich, extremely subtle, and tender. I met it by chance since I’m not a Givenchy fan. At first, it smells like powdered raspberry juice, but it’s very pleasant, and its trail is very noticeable. If you want something for the day that doesn’t overwhelm as much in summer as in winter, it’s rich.

  • I met it through a sample a perfume store gave me: a damp handkerchief with the fragrance in a tiny packet. It seemed magnificent! Sweet and spicy raspberries, slightly powdery and rough… So delicious, bold, and different! Givenchy is making a statement again. It’s not for going unnoticed or daily use. I bought it once; it was very expensive, and later I found a very well-made dupe. I never understood the lack of care in the bottle design or its connection to the name.

I’ve been looking for the EDT of Hot Couture for a long time because they say it’s very different from the EDP, but for some reason, only the EDP is available in my country, so I tried it. At first, the saleswoman thought I was buying it for my mother: ‘I don’t think it’s suitable for a girl so young.’ And of course, at first, it smells spicy, something associated with perfumes for ‘older people,’ but as soon as it develops, sweet, fruity, and floral notes appear. It’s a wonder: elegant, soft yet imposing. I agree I’d wear it for special occasions, not for everyday use, but it depends on the person. It’s a classic scent with vintage vibes but works very well today, nothing ‘out-dated’ like 90s fragrances. It has good projection and excellent longevity. If you’re looking for something ‘distinguished’ but casual, it’s a good option.

  • So delicious! It’s the perfume my mom used to wear when I was little, and now I can’t stop associating it with my childhood and a warm, sweet hug. It’s enveloping, very wintry, like a warm embrace, yet spicy, dry, and woody, and elegant. It has a very sweet opening of raspberries, and when it dries down, it smells like the warm wood of a stove or cabin. The longevity is insane; I’ve worn it for about 10 hours and I still smell it. The trail fills an entire room.

  • FranSeatJones.

This is one of the perfumes where I feel the note transition the most. First, a ripe raspberry (not cheap), elegant, not overly gourmand, and realistic, with its pepper and maybe bergamot. Then… simply sandalwood (my favorite note) and amber. I don’t perceive any floral notes. After watching videos and comparisons, I expected a bombshell, but it’s a very friendly and classic perfume, nothing focused on the 90s. Its sandalwood reminds me a lot of Chanel’s Coco Noire (which I adore and guarantee is elegant). It’s beautiful, wearable, nothing portentous as I expected, but it’s not what I’m looking for. I’ll give it a second chance.

  • I admit I can’t be objective about this fragrance. I have too many memories and emotions attached to it that make me love it. It’s distinctly sensual with a vintage touch, yet it doesn’t smell like ‘old lady.’ Unfortunately, it’s discontinued in my country, and it cost me a fortune to find my second bottle, which I treasure. I’m always at Hot Couture’s feet.

  • This fragrance is elegant and cozy all at once. I adore its versatile scent: it shifts from citrus to spicy earthy vetiver, then to the sweetness of amber. I wear it in fall and winter because it makes me feel wrapped up and cherished. It lasts about 8 hours on my skin. It was a gift, and I’d definitely buy it again. 10/10.

  • Absolutely exquisite! I love it because it conveys confidence, class, and elegance. It’s incredibly enveloping and lasts forever on the skin; it leaves a trail that doesn’t overpower but catches attention because it’s such a unique scent.

  • It’s been a while since this happened to me, but this Givenchy went straight to my wishlist from the first sniff. What a wonder! I love it! Fruity opening with lots of pepper, developing into a raspberry that doesn’t go sweet but stays surrounded by a woody halo. The smoky vetiver makes it incredibly cozy and makes me think of sitting by a fireplace. At the core, what I smell most is sandalwood with a touch of musk, without the vetiver disappearing. It smells classic, perhaps even a bit vintage. I’d say it could be unisex and seems very versatile. I don’t know, it’s not something unheard-of or mind-blowing, but I’ve really liked it. It doesn’t have an overwhelming trail or be a groundbreaking scent, but it has something that makes me feel dressed up and elegant… Its longevity on my skin is about 6-7 hours. In reality, both the trail and longevity are a bit short for me, but, you know, I’m loving it. I want it, I need it, even if I have to bathe in it to get better performance. Scent: 8/10 Longevity: 6.5/10 Sillage: 6/10 Value for money: 6/10 Versatility: 8/10 Packaging: 6/10 Would I buy it again? I haven’t bought it (yet).

  • Very rich and spicy; on my skin, the raspberry isn’t as prominent. Just the sandalwood with amber, and at the end, a drop of the raspberry’s sweetness and acidity. It’s a seductive and elegant aroma, something nocturnal; I feel it would go well with a tobacco cigarette.

  • Hot Couture is very sweet, but not cloying. On my skin, it behaves linearly: it smells like powdered raspberry with a spicy kick from start to finish. The raspberry is the star, but you also feel the pepper, white musk, and sandalwood (which give a frosted texture), along with the citrus that makes it lighter. Its projection is good; if you smell it without touching it directly, the citrus, magnolia, raspberry, and pepper notes feel heavier. It’s a pretty, cozy perfume, very feminine and youthful, perfect for day wear in any season and informal occasions without drawing too much attention. It brings to mind a pink French macaron. Without resembling it, the feeling is being a fruitier version of Perles de Lalique. Unfortunately, perfumes that remind me of pink aren’t my style. Also, it reminds me too much of body mists and aerosol deodorants from my adolescence. Pleasant: 6/10 Interesting: 7/10 Versatile: 7/10 Original: 7/10

  • It’s an exquisite perfume thanks to the bergamot and raspberry, very attractive due to its sandalwood notes. It smells like fine, rich tobacco; it’s elegant, distinct from what’s known, and seductive. It’s for night use or special occasions. It projects security and distinction.

  • AuryUnicorn

Sweet, elegant, distinguished, sophisticated, and memorable; that’s how I rate Hot Couture. From the start, the raspberry and orange wrap around you, while you perceive a powdery, warm sillage that gives it a distinctive seal. I wear it for special occasions or when I want to stand out, because honestly, it delivers.

Sweet, elegant, distinguished, sophisticated, and memorable; that’s how I’d describe Hot Couture. From the first moment, the raspberry and orange envelop you, while you detect a powdery, warm trail that gives it a distinctive seal. I wear it for special occasions or when I want to stand out, because wow, it achieves that.

  • Hot Couture is a brilliant classic: a superbly crafted raspberry that, mixed with the top notes, captivates if you’re a lover of unique perfumes. Luckily, it doesn’t fall into the monotony of overdone raspberry; it’s a very light raspberry. It’s a fragrance with many fans; I think it was a source of inspiration for many perfumers. To sum up, the keyword is distinguished and very sober.

  • I love the scent of this distinguished and sophisticated perfume; the raspberry takes center stage on my skin, with a spicy dry-down. The downside is it doesn’t last 3 hours on me—I can’t smell it at all, and it lacks projection.

  • Magnaroma

I adore this perfume. Although it’s fruity due to the raspberry, it has nothing to do with current fruit scents. It’s bottled elegance. I used to wear it all summer, but now I recommend it for night or elegant outings. I have an old bottle and it lasts me forever. Now I treat it like a treasure.

  • I’ll just say there’s not a trace of the original left; it smells more like raspberry jelly. Total disappointment with the reformulation.
