  First Dream of the Year opens super citrusy, like squeezing grapefruit juice all over you, with a touch of bitter petitgrain. Immediately, neroli takes control and intensifies, accompanied by a very realistic jasmine. The floral accord is brutal, like a bouquet of neroli and jasmine right in your face with a splash of orange juice on top for sweetness. At the end, the iris adds a sophisticated, powdery, feminine touch. I must confess, the dry down is my favorite. Longevity and projection are moderate, like almost everything from this brand.

Everything feels natural and integrated; the base notes don’t shout, they just nuance the neroli. After four hours, the neroli yields to a clean, powdery, musky iris that’s perfect for cooler weather but not summer. It projects strongly at first, then comes and goes in bursts for over 12 hours (less in summer). I think it’s a beautiful, well-rounded feminine scent, ideal for spring-summer or mild autumn to spread some joy. I like it more than similar options like Neroli Portofino, though the price seems inflated: it’s pleasant and well-made, but just one of a thousand in this style. Note: Fragantica fell short on the official notes. Pleasant: 8/10, Interesting: 4/10, Versatile: 7/10, Original: 3/10.

It starts with a sharp orange that then turns soft, sweet, and velvety, making the neroli the star but letting the iris dominate on my skin. At first, it smells like that sophisticated, soft, slightly sweet shampoo. It’s luminous, bright, luxurious, intimate, and carnal all at once. It lasts for hours; you feel perfumed, comfortable, happy, and very evocative of good vibes. Exquisite.
