Escada Magnetism by Escada is an oriental vanilla fragrance for women. Launched in 2003, this composition was created by Steve DeMercado and Pierre Bourdon. The top notes reveal red berries, blackcurrants, cassia, lychee, pineapple, and melon; the heart unfolds green leaves, basil, almond blossom, iris, freesia, heliotrope, magnolia, jasmine, rose, caraway, and valley lily; while the base notes settle on caramel, vanilla, patchouli, benzoin, musk, sandalwood, amber, and vetiver.

  • I remember buying this perfume after smelling countless others and only liking this one. Today, it’s sitting right there. I bought it because I smelled clean freesia in the store that I love so much, but today I only smell the basil.

I ordered it online and they delivered it today. What to say… it disappointed me a bit because I expected much more. It is sweet, not that it isn’t, but after reading the notes I thought it would be more like Born in Paradise by Escada, but nothing like it. Since I bought it without smelling it first, I was disappointed that it wasn’t sweeter. I expected a more coconut and pineapple scent, but I don’t perceive those notes even though they are part of the composition. Still, I think it’s a fantastic perfume and I like it. What I do notice is that it has great longevity, which I like. I’ll keep using it. By the way, at first it smelled like a mix of plum and baby powder to me, I don’t know if you feel the same, but anyway, it smells very good. Although I won’t buy it again because I feel there are other more sophisticated and sweet perfumes that match what I like, and this one doesn’t meet my expectations. In summary, it’s a good aroma but doesn’t match the description notes. Still, I don’t regret my purchase at all.

  • This fragrance has always seemed very sweet, penetrating, heavy, and annoying to me. I think the candy scent in perfumes gives me a headache. I’ve tried giving it several chances in the gondolas, but there’s no point; I don’t like it at all.

  • I loved this perfume, what a great brown sugar caramel aroma! I’ll never understand why they stopped making it; it was the best from Escada. I hope the next launch is something similar.

Hello, I bought this fragrance yesterday because Le Nuit Tresor was out of stock. It definitely works well; it has a sweet scent that isn’t annoying. It’s not my perfume of a lifetime, it lasts a decent amount of time on the skin but doesn’t create much of a trail, which saddens me. In short, it’s a great everyday perfume, and I liked it.

  • I’m writing again, disappointed. It must be my pH, judging by your ratings, but this perfume doesn’t last at all on my skin, which is strange.

  • Forget my previous reviews, I love this perfume! It’s now on my list of unconditional favorites. The scent is so warm and easy to wear. It’s not that it doesn’t last on my skin, it’s that I can’t smell it on myself, but everyone else can. Everyone keeps telling me lately that I smell great. It’s perfect for everyday wear.

  • Magnetism is super sweet but with a fantastic green touch thanks to the basil—it really smells like basil! After the lovely opening, it stays sweet without being cloying, featuring lots of lychee and a delicious caramel base. Honestly, it sometimes reminds me of Britney’s Fantasy, but Magnetism came out first, so if you’re a fan of that, here’s another great option. I give you permission to sue me if you don’t like it. The trail is passable and the longevity is quite good.

  • I’m not a fan; the scent is so sweet and warm it gives me a headache. However, I gave it to my sister and she absolutely loved it. On her skin, everything blends perfectly, it projects amazingly, and lasts forever. When they let me try it on, I got a little dab, and I could still smell it the next day, even though I washed my hands until they bled from the dizziness it causes.

One of my favorite babies is the fourth bottle I own, and I always buy it again; it’s my absolute favorite. It smells sweet and fruity, not tiring. I use it only for discos because its aroma is like a pacifier with gum, it doesn’t drive me crazy. This scent makes you want to eat it; I recommend it to girls.

  • I remember testing this fragrance on my skin two or three times. It was sweet, more like caramel. It had good longevity and sillage. At the time, I didn’t buy it because I purchased others. After some time, I went with the intention of buying it, only to find out that in my country, Argentina, it was no longer available. What a pity. It’s a real shame it’s discontinued. It happened with other fragrances: I liked them, but for one reason or another, I didn’t buy them, and then they stopped being manufactured.

  • Fatima92551

It was a blind buy, the worst mistake. I saw it in a discount store at a great price and, based on the excellent reviews I read, I bought it. To my dismay, it smells like cheap bathroom air freshener.

  • I found it after a long and expensive search for my ideal perfume: Magnetism. It’s a powerhouse of sweetness and red berries with rose notes, super penetrating and intoxicating. In my country, I can get it at a good price. I suppose I’ll gradually spend the others I tried that didn’t convince me.

I loved this perfume at my parties and night outings with friends; it was a staple between 2003 and 2005. I can’t find it in department stores in Mexico anymore. On August 1, 2021, I received this perfume at home and I remember it as if it were yesterday! I love it! I feel it suits my age better now; I can’t explain why, but at 46, I like it more.

  • saukimoon

It was a gift from my father and the only one he ever got right. It’s sweet but not sticky. Smells like acidic red berries with caramel, a bit of vanilla, and patchouli with a smoky base, I suppose from vetiver. It’s the only one he praised because on my skin it has excellent chemistry. Very good longevity and moderate projection. I’ll definitely repeat and buy it again.

  • Natalylopez

Seductive, nocturnal, and sweet aroma. It’s like red berries with caramel, vanilla, and a touch of green leaf. It has good sillage and longevity. The bottle is seductive with that dark raspberry tone.

  • Eau fraiche 82

I tested Escada Magnetism during a casual outing. After sniffing many dry sprays in the store, this one caught my attention with its opening; I felt different and was looking for something recognizable and unique. I gave it a shot, but after 30 minutes, the verdict was disappointment: it smelled like a 50-cent cologne, a mix of chewed gum and insecticide. I’m not sure if it was my complicated pH or low-quality ingredients. I love fresh and citrus scents, but for me, they only last on the bottle or right after application before disappearing so no one can smell them. That’s why I opt for strong fragrances, but this is a resounding NO.

  • rafajurado

A super sweet and warm fragrance, but very heavy. I didn’t like it at all; the scent was so overpowering I couldn’t even form an opinion. I couldn’t pick out any clear ingredients, maybe pineapple.

  • It’s been my signature scent for almost 20 years. That blend of caramel and berries always reminds me of cotton candy; it smells magical, like those Christmas fair days when we dressed up to look our best. It’s enchanting, feminine without being heavy, lasts forever, and I hope they never discontinue it.

  • I bought it blind, driven by reviews saying it was very sweet, though some mentioned a basil scent that put me off. Still, I decided to take the risk. Unfortunately, the first impression was pure basil, which I didn’t like. It lasts a bit and is persistent, but luckily, by the time it settles on my skin, it smells sweet and the basil fades away.

  • pathypooh

It’s a unique scent. Not sweet at all; it’s floral but with green notes that cut through the flowers. You can definitely smell the basil, with caramel and vanilla in the background. It has a slight unisex vibe. The box and bottle make it look like a different type of perfume, but it’s not the sweet, feminine one they usually present. It’s not a bad perfume, but don’t buy it blind; better to try it first.

  • An exotic and curious fragrance, warm and cozy, perfect for an autumn night. I like it.

  • After 15 years without using it, I bought it again. It still smells like cotton candy on nights at the fair. It makes me happy.

  • It’s a fantasy, a scent that draws a lot of attention. Every time I wear it, I realize I can’t go unnoticed. It has character without being that loud, grandma-type perfume. It’s cheerful, fresh, fruity, and sweet. You’ll love it if you like fruity perfumes. It smells like spring.

  • It’s the best perfume I’ve ever used, with great presence. On my skin, it’s sweet but not cloying, lasts all day, and works for daytime or a night party. Too bad it’s no longer sold in Mexico, but I love it and there’s nothing like it.

  • On my skin, it reminds me a lot of Kilian Princess; I’d been wanting it for years but didn’t dare buy it because the tester in the store was in bad shape. Luckily I ordered blind because I absolutely love it. If you like sweet vanilla gourmands, you have to try this.

  • My aunt gifted me a sample years ago and I fell in love, wearing it constantly and saving the little bottle. After many years, I bought it again, much cheaper haha, and it keeps surprising me. It brings back memories and my partner adored it, so it’s an absolute yes. No regrets about buying it again.

  • Fab perfume lover

Hard to define because the notes blend together, highlighting vanilla, berries, and currants with a cherry touch. It’s youthful, mysterious, and very sweet, lasting 4-5 hours with good projection without being overwhelming. It doesn’t smell like basil, but has a green note that balances the sweet fruits. I’d wear it in the evening or on cold days; in heat, it becomes too sweet and tiring, just like other sweet scents. It’s not childish, but very cheerful; once someone told me it smelled like a princess.

  • aromática_inexperta91

It’s a personality-packed perfume, though it dries down to something more classic. Works great on young girls or anyone with a youthful spirit 🙂

  • The opening smells of red berries and lychee, then moves to a floral bouquet, and the dry down is musky and caramelized. The problem is that the stages don’t overlap or blend; you smell them all separately. First fruit, then just flowers, and finally just caramel and musk, so there’s not much magic. The worst part was that I applied a lot all over my body, and it had neither trail nor longevity; I could only smell it if I brought my wrists close for 30 minutes, and by the 2-hour mark, it had disappeared.

  • I’ve been using it since its launch, and as soon as I smelled it, it became my signature. It’s a very intense sweet aroma but not annoying or cloying—an elegant, sensual sweet scent with lots of personality. Over the years, it’s been praised by many, and even some have made it part of their daily rotation. It’s intense and long-lasting, so much so that it impregnates whoever you greet, hug, or touch. Maybe that could bother people, but I love it.

  • The first time I smelled it, I hated it because I’d never smelled something so sweet and green, and now… I can’t live without it. The more I use it, the more I like it. Sweet and fresh at the same time, a constant evolution of sweet and fresh green, one of the few gourmands you can wear even in summer. Sweet, fresh, versatile, intense, and wonderful. A fresh gourmand that isn’t intrusive yet doesn’t go unnoticed, with very good longevity. This works for all tastes, but if you haven’t liked it, it’s because you haven’t tried it more than once; the more you use it, the more essential it becomes. Great trail and longevity. 9/10

  • oliendobonito

I don’t know what to say about this blessed perfume; it’s just another one of the bunch… There are excellent perfumes at better prices than Escada. Unfortunately, the brand died a long time ago and doesn’t produce or breathe good fragrances anymore. This is simply another one that smells like fruit juice with nothing interesting, just like all the others they’ve released and every limited edition every so often… They’re not worth the price, the smell, or anything else. If you buy three Escada perfumes, you’ll think you accidentally bought the same one three times.

Escada Magnetism has the essence of the 90s and 2000s. It’s multifaceted, sweet, herbal, fruity, vanilla, and talc-like. The basil note is noticeable, which is why some unaccustomed people might find it strange. But it’s like a cocktail; mixing green notes with red fruits and sweets creates an interesting balance that gives it versatility, a spark, and sophistication. It’s a different kind of gourmand—imagine a red fruit gum with a mint filling, that’s my take. One of Escada’s best; the best part is the price. It seems discontinued since it’s not common to see it these days. If you spot it, give it a chance if you like different sweet scents.

  • Victoria90

It’s a good perfume with excellent longevity and great value. The opening is the richest part, with a fresh green vibe, then those sweet fruity notes with caramel and vanilla are very delicious—ideal for daily wear.

  • It smells good but lacks performance and longevity; it stays right on the skin. You’d have to reapply constantly for others to catch the scent, which is rich but poor in projection. It’s hard to find and not cheap, yet it doesn’t offer good performance.

  • Araceli S.

Who on earth put basil in this? Within two seconds, it smelled like rotting lettuce on my skin… what a pity because the sweetness wasn’t bad, but those green notes… ew… a real downer. My husband gifted it to me, and I had to give it to someone else; I just couldn’t stand the rotten smell.

  • My mother bought this when I was a teenager, and it smelled divine. It’s a sweet, intoxicating, intense fragrance typical of a seaside summer, but for me, it’s too much. I can’t stand it; it doesn’t just make me dizzy, it makes me want to vomit. I learned here that two people with the same blood can react to a perfume in completely different ways. It made my stomach acidic just spraying it on—what a nightmare. Although it has an interesting composition, on me it projects all the scents I hate. It’s simply vomit-inducing. Maybe I’ll change my mind when I try it again at 28 and edit this review for the final verdict.
