  • Elle by YSL, what a luxury experience this weekend was! I arrived with my nose fully loaded and everyone kept asking what I was wearing. It lasted all day and left a delicious trail. It reminds me of Lalique’s Pearls but with a woody touch that gives it more character. Elegant and modern, perfect for the woman who isn’t afraid to shine. Highly recommended!

This perfume is rich, it’s for a modern and yet sophisticated woman. Although on my skin it doesn’t last long, I think so.

  • azuriiita

I sense it’s more similar to Gucci’s Envy Me… lots of peony, lychee, a bit of pink pepper, and not much more. I agree that its longevity isn’t exactly good. Overall, it left me wanting from a YSL fragrance by Jacques Cavallier and Olivier Cresp; but I understand there must be something for everyone’s taste, hehe.

  • Elle is a rich perfume and, contrary to what I read in the comments, on my skin it has excellent longevity and sillage. It’s one of those perfumes that doesn’t leave people indifferent, that makes a presence without overwhelming, leaving an exquisite breeze wherever you go. Very sparkling, sexy, spicy, cheerful, ultra-feminine. For women who are confident in themselves. I don’t see it for shy people or lovers of summer colognes. If you dress with this fragrance, it’s because you want to say: ‘Here I am’… Very good, like all the scents from Yves Saint Laurent, which have never disappointed me.

  • Elle is absolutely delicious, and unlike what people say, it lasts a long time on my skin and projects well. It’s one of those that makes a statement without being overwhelming, leaving an exquisite breeze wherever you go. Very sparkling, sexy, spicy, and cheerful, made for confident women. It’s not for shy people or those looking for summer colognes. If you’re wearing it, it’s because you want to say: ‘Here I am’. Very good fragrance, like all YSL scents, which have never disappointed me.

This is also a perfume I’d call strange. I like it a lot; it smells spicy, sparkling, with a very pleasant and noticeable woody touch. The curious thing is that every time I wear it, it reminds me of the scent left in the air after a storm. Not wet earth or grass or anything like that, but pure, simple air. And I like that smell. I can’t identify the notes, I just manage to distinguish that harmonious and balanced blend of spicy and slightly woody. On my skin, this blend doesn’t clash at all, which makes it a special and strange perfume. On my skin, it lasts quite a while, between five and six hours. I like it a lot for spring and summer, because even though it’s spicy and woody, I don’t perceive it as warm or suitable for winter. But that’s up to taste, of course. I usually wear it in those two seasons and always during the day, although it can be worn at night too; it seems elegant enough for that.

  • sagitaria64

This perfume is a bit unique, but I absolutely love it. It smells spicy, sparkling, with a very pleasant woody touch. What’s curious is that whenever I wear it, it smells like fresh air after a storm: clean and simple, without any earthy or grassy notes. I don’t know what the specific notes are, but that balanced blend is magical. It lasts about six hours on my skin, perfect for spring and summer because, while it’s spicy, it doesn’t feel too warm for winter. I wear it during the day, though it also looks elegant at night.

  • The brand and the perfumers who created this fragrance were very promising. The combination of notes like peony, lychee, jasmine, freesia, and vetiver promised to enchant me, and the pink bottle was tempting… but something just didn’t work! ‘Elle’ is far from being a sensual fragrance… it’s more of a sweet, slightly citrusy scent with a woody touch that doesn’t provoke anger, but also doesn’t appear as an object of desire. Good recommendation for summer days and everyday use. Its longevity is short, and its trail is discreet.

  • Perfumeadicta1982

Summer perfume, fresh, interesting, and it doesn’t go unnoticed. It doesn’t last very long, at least on my skin. But it’s worth trying. It doesn’t give me much sensuality, but it does make me feel more energetic.

  • I just realized that perfumes with cedar base notes aren’t for me. Cedar dominates this one, and it’s a weird scent. It’s not pleasant in the morning and can get cloying and annoying if you’re riding the bus. I’ve had a 10ml bottle for about seven years and still have more than a third left. It’s hard for me to wear. I wouldn’t buy it again.

  • It’s a nighttime and cold-weather perfume. Not suitable for summer or daytime. Beautiful fragrance, sexy, vibrant, and alluring. It’s not for just any woman to wear. It has character, as one should when carrying it. Very good. I recommend it to those who like attractive and different scents.

  • I just realized that perfumes with cedar as a base note aren’t for me. Cedar is dominant in this perfume. It’s a strange smell, one that doesn’t work in the morning and can become cloying and unpleasant if you hop on the bus. I’ve had a 10 ml bottle for about 7 years and there’s still a bit more than a third left. I struggle to wear it. I wouldn’t buy it.

  • beatriz cisneros

From the very first time I smelled it, I fell in love; it’s very mysterious 😉

  • I’m sure it’s a sexy perfume and I love its scent, but on my skin it comes across as very woody. I’ve tried it several times and it just doesn’t fully win me over; I think without the cedar note it would be perfect. It’s super feminine and elegant. Maybe it’s just that woody scents don’t work for me, which is why I haven’t bought it—what a pity! Maybe I’ll give it another shot later, as olfactory tastes change over time. Who hasn’t had aromas they used to hate end up in their collection? But I can’t stop saying it’s an excellent perfume for lovers of this type of scent.

  • Elle by YSL is, from my male perspective, a must that every woman should try… even though many ladies here have given unfavorable opinions. At first, Elle has a clean, beautiful ‘lychee’ colored bottle with gold lettering and the YSL initials that denote glamour, sophistication, and sexuality. Unlike Envy Me by Gucci, Elle feels deeper and rounder to me. Its opening is nervous, almost dirty, but after 5 minutes the beauty of this wonder emerges. A floral-fruity charge develops over a pillar of patchouli and cedar, creating feminine images that result in elegantly sexy vibes. Its longevity hovers around 8 hours with high projection for the first two hours, followed by a very beautiful descent to its rich skin trail. Discontinued, my wife and I treat the remaining 30ml as if it were liquid gold.

  • darlenerock

I love, love this perfume. Years ago it was my daily fragrance, my signature scent. It was discontinued in my country, but luckily I managed to get it back. I’m so happy to have it in my collection again. Sophisticated, intense, mysterious, with incredible fixation and trail. The peony, pink pepper, and patchouli are very noticeable. A beautiful combination that will leave you breathless.

  • darlenerock

I absolutely love this perfume! It was my daily signature for years. They discontinued it here, but luckily I got it back. So happy! It’s sophisticated, intense, and mysterious with incredible longevity and sillage. You can really detect the peony, pink pepper, and patchouli. A gorgeous blend that leaves you breathless.

  • Manuela Monteiro

It’s an excellent perfume, not for every occasion; I think it’s ideal for going out at night or dining with your partner on an anniversary. Absolutely elegant. Maybe with some masculine touches, so it might not be everyone’s cup of tea. It reminds me of Midnight Poison (discontinued). It has excellent development, trail, and fixation, lasting about 8 hours. The patchouli with pink pepper and jasmine give it that glamour every woman should feel at least once.

  • Hello, I love that perfume; I used it for years. It’s super elegant, and I agree it’s more of a night scent. Unfortunately, it’s out of stock in my country, Costa Rica. Does anyone know where I can get it? I saw that darlenerock bought it recently; where did you get it? Best regards.

  • Natalylopez

I tried the limited edition from 2011 and fell in love with the scent; the next day I tried the original and I really like it. It’s sweet and intense due to the musk, floral-fruity because you can tell the rose, peony, and lychee. I detect a spicy touch from the pink pepper and a woody-mossy note from the vetiver and oak. It seems very feminine and sexy.

  • One of my blind buys, and this time it went wrong. I went along with the positive reviews and took advantage of the Hot Sale for the 50ml version. What a mistake. I won’t explain techniques; simply put, on my skin it smells like a man’s perfume, overwhelming, headache-inducing, and cheap. If you live in Argentina, it smells just like Átomo Desinflamante (sports balm). I’ve already had a bad experience with this brand, although I still have a bit of Black Opium left. Even though its fragrance is intense, I sense something feminine in its style, but not in this one. Maybe I’ll let it rest and give it another chance 🙁

  • One of my many blind buys, and this time it failed. I went for it based on great reviews and took advantage of the Hot Sale to grab the 50ml bottle. What a mistake! I won’t explain the chemistry, just say that on my skin, it smells like an overpowering, headache-inducing, cheap men’s cologne. If you live in Argentina, it smells exactly like Atom Desinflamante (the athlete’s balm). I’ve tried this brand before and still have a bit of Black Opium left. While Black Opium feels at least somewhat feminine on me, this one feels like nothing. Maybe I’ll let it sit and try again later 🙁

  • A few days ago I bought a 50ml bottle from 2015 at a perfumery in the Canary Islands. I thought it was discontinued, but it’s sold everywhere. Sellers say they only get Elle in large bottles. It doesn’t show up on the YSL website. The question is: who actually produces it?

  • Elegant and sophisticated, I see this for all ages—it’s very original and nothing common. I recommend it 100%. The trail and longevity are moderate, but it’s one of those perfumes where when you smell it on someone, you can’t stop smelling it.

  • I’m obsessed with Elle; it’s so original and I absolutely love it. I can’t pinpoint the notes exactly, but I notice the patchouli at first, which later blends perfectly with everything. It has a masculine touch that gives it real character. The trail and longevity are moderate, but it lasts quite a while.

  • A perfume with personality; I won’t say character due to the longevity (about 4 hours on me), but it is a scent that stands out from the repetitive sweet ones. I just applied it to my wrist; its opening is a bit intimidating because it’s a fresh, masculine initial aroma, then it settles and reveals its feminine notes. I don’t see it for teenagers, it’s for a woman, but not just any woman, one who doesn’t need to be rescued, she is a warrior in herself. Despite loving this scent, its longevity isn’t spectacular, about 4 hours. But anyway, it doesn’t matter, its composition is so beautiful that it’s a pleasure to reapply during the day.

  • Thanks to a friend, I tried two bottles of Elle: a 2010 tester and a regular 2011 version. I sprayed one on each arm at 1:30 PM. The 2010 smelled like the ripe, dark rose of Dior’s Midnight Poison, held together by patchouli and vetiver. The 2011 was much more floral and sweet, almost lacking that woodiness. By 7:30 PM, the 2010 was still there with its woody base, while the 2011 had barely faded. The 2010 lasted almost an hour longer. It seems they reformulated it and removed the patchouli, which is a pity. Maybe mixing the new version with some patchouli from Soinotes or Reminiscence would fix it. The 2010 is simply beautiful, just as rich as Midnight Poison.

  • Thanks to a friend who let me borrow hers, I have two bottles of Elle. One tester with a 4-letter batch code, dated 2010. The other regular with a 6-character batch code (2 numbers, 2 letters, 2 numbers), dated 2011. I tested them simultaneously, one on each arm. The 2010 version is tremendously similar to Dior’s Midnight Poison: a mature, fragrant rose adorned with darkness by the patchouli and vetiver. The 2011 version barely resembles the Dior one, staying more floral and sweetened; if it has patchouli, they spared no expense. Applied at 1:30 PM and by 7:30 PM, the 2010 one is still present (base woods with floral hints), while the 2011 one is barely noticeable. The 2011 had more projection at the start, but the 2010 wins hands down in longevity (I stopped smelling the 2011 almost an hour ago). It’s clear there was a reformulation… What a shame, since as far as I know, patchouli was never threatened by health regulations. I told my friend that if she mixes the 2011 with the patchouli from Solinotes or Reminiscence, maybe they’d be similar… The 2010 is so rich, just as rich as Midnight Poison, beautiful.

  • Lately, I have a ‘problem’: I’m diving into niche perfumery, which is ‘love it or hate it’; at first, they smell weird, but once you get used to them, they’re like a good wine, and once you’re hooked, nothing else compares. What I can’t get used to is my wallet; the prices are brutal. What does this smell like? I agree with many opinions: pink pepper and patchouli stand out. But this patchouli is domesticated, leaning fruity, not the one from Indian accessory stores with incense sticks. And woods. I can’t distinguish the jasmine and freesia separately, but I do smell the lychee, which gives it a feminine twist. It’s not a lychee like Delina, neither in formula nor composition. In short, if you don’t like fruity perfumes topped with pink pepper, it’s a risky purchase. It feels like the early 2000s when perfumes had a strong brand imprint. It has character, is intense, and potent at the start, although it doesn’t last forever (almost a relief). It’s aimed at a woman with a strong personality. In my opinion, it’s more nocturnal than diurnal, winter-appropriate, a bit heavy and cloying despite having no added sugars. It has a cloying effect similar to Cinema; although they don’t share notes or resemble each other, they share that repetitive common background that sometimes makes you abandon the bottle halfway through out of sheer fatigue.

  • Original perfume with masculine touches. On me, it smells like lychee and woods, but not opulent, rather chic. Perfectly unisex. Its opening is sparkling and citrusy, then the woods and patchouli emerge (not herbal or earthy, but with a fruity sweetness). It has a spicy note I like, probably from the pepper. I smell lots of lychee (it’s a fruit like the nectarine). It doesn’t seem like a perfume with grand pretensions, which is a plus: it simply smells good. They say it’s for winter, but I wear it year-round; it’s not strong or intrusive. I think it works well in warm climates too. The longevity is lacking: it lasts 4-5 hours on me, then I have to reapply because it stays close to the skin. The trail is timid, noticeable but not overwhelming. Although they should improve the longevity, it’s a special perfume that stands out from the current sweet ones. If you want to try something different with a touch of sweet and woody, it’s a good option.

  • Elle by YSL sounds super sophisticated to me. Peony and rose dominate, driven by the zing of pink pepper mixed with patchouli. It’s a beautiful union of flowers, fruits, woods, and musks. I love the lychee nuances; it’s a note that’s really hard to balance. In my opinion, it has nothing masculine about it.

  • Elle by YSL is sophisticated. You can really smell the peony and rose, boosted by pink pepper mixed with patchouli. A beautiful combination of floral, fruity, woody, and musky notes. I love the nuances of lychee, a note that’s hard to combine. I don’t see anything masculine in it.

  • Uff, one of the best fragrances I’ve ever smelled. It’s for an elegant lady of any age, speaking of personality and a taste for the complex and deep; that depth comes from the patchouli and vetiver. It’s very interesting, but not loud, rather delicate and measured. It reminds me of Dior’s Midnight Poison, but this one is more intense and herbal; Elle is easier to wear. Simply adorable. The fragrance of a wealthy lady or young lady. That sounded classist, but they understood me.

  • There are no words for how beautiful it feels. It breaks away from the conventional and the sweet gourmand trend. I met it at 15; my best friend wore it and associated it with nights out and clubs. I stumbled upon it a year ago, only three bottles left, tried it, and many memories came flooding back… I realized it’s not just for night, but for day too: elegant, polished, and commanding. Its trail is a cloud that accompanies without suffocating. It lasts 4 hours on me, but others can smell it until 10. It’s strong yet soft. It’s discontinued, and out of those three bottles, I only bought one. I wish it were my signature, but I arrived too late. If you see it, it’s a yes. The bottle is comfortable to carry and very beautiful.

  • I found it in Spain in a 90ml bottle. It’s one of my must-haves for winter nights. Very nocturnal and festive. I love it.

  • Fran seitz

My husband gifted it to me, but it was a mistake for me since I prefer fresh, green fragrances. It’s a nighttime scent, sophisticated. It opens with patchouli and wood, then blooms. Very feminine, leaning towards a mature vibe.

  • darlenerock

Elle is a perfume that leaves a mark, impossible to forget. What a shame they discontinued it; it’s brutally hard to find a substitute for those of us who wore it daily. It was my signature scent for nights out: if I wanted to turn heads, I’d wear it. The compliments never stopped, and the longevity lasted until the shower! The blend of woods, patchouli, and roses by YSL is magical. I still have 10ml left and use it whenever nostalgia calls for a scent that demands presence.
