Divine Decadence by Marc Jacobs

I bought this blindly based on the good reviews. At first, it didn’t convince me at all, but I gave it another shot and now it’s my favorite. I wore it to the office and loved how it smelled that spring morning; I got tons of compliments, and honestly, it ended up being a real hit for me.

For me, it was a disaster—I just can’t handle florals. It smells like yellow flowers to me; I’m not sure if it’s the honeysuckle. The same thing happened with Perfect Intense; I sensed a similar DNA with that artificial banana note. It’s a powerhouse in terms of potency and projection, lasting about 6 hours.

What a beautiful perfume! Marc Jacobs has its own DNA. Some people can’t stand their fragrances, but in this one, I can identify that little banana scent we found years later in Perfect Intense. To me, it smells vanilla with a fresh yet sweet touch. The dry down is pure banana 🍌. As for versatility, I skip that topic with all perfumes; I wear them whenever I feel like it, I don’t think about whether they match my clothes, that would be the ultimate 😆. It doesn’t matter if it’s winter or summer, that’s where the number of sprays comes into play. It’s quite wearable, it doesn’t overwhelm or fog anyone up. Anyway, if I think of anything else, I’ll edit. Go grab one while it’s still available on Vinted.

Can anyone explain why it took me so long to buy this? I couldn’t find perfumeries with testers, so I decided to go by the reviews (thanks, Ori Russo) and this website. It’s gorgeous, very particular, and adapts to any season or occasion. At first, I didn’t notice the banana, just sweet flowers (though I usually don’t like them), an exquisite sweetness. I think those flowers with that sweetness create the banana sensation: if I focus on the flowers, they’re flowers; if I focus on the banana, it’s banana. It’s beautiful and could be my forever perfume. I bought the 30ml, but if the opportunity arises, the 100ml is a must.

I tested this perfume many times in stores and always thought it smelled like overripe banana.

I don’t understand how it’s so underestimated and then they stopped making it. It’s truly unique; it doesn’t resemble any other. It smells of warmth, of a confident, independent, and sophisticated woman, very sensual. It projects a lot and lasts longer. I admit that no one has ever complimented it, but it’s my favorite in the world and in history. I keep a bit of the last bottle and treat it like gold. When I’m home alone, it’s cold, enjoying a good coffee, and having my moment, I put it on and it’s pure personal enjoyment. It envelops me, comforts me, gives me security, and serene joy. Edit: I’ve read that many perceive a banana or syrup aroma; I don’t notice it, but not at all. It’s sweet without being cloying, nothing like a fruit punch with sugar or a daiquiri, which are trendy nowadays. It’s warmer; if we talk about fruits, it’s more like rehydrated and baked prune, ripe and juicy. I don’t know why they perceive it since it’s not listed in the notes, but it serves to give an idea. I suppose it’s the amber, orange blossom, saffron, and bergamot notes dancing together in balance along with the champagne. Deliciously so. All its notes blend and fuse so well and balanced that they form a new aroma, so unique, special, and indescribable.

I like it if it’s good! Jaja, but I prefer its sibling, which is a great perfume. I don’t like the banana aroma much, but as for longevity, it’s excellent, and the sillage… needless to say. It’s very beautiful, I recommend it.

I love it! I’m not entirely sure how it’s made, but after the initial champagne sparkle fades, what you smell is banana with woods, a touch of amber, and saffron. Could it be the floral blend creating that banana accord? On me, the trail is noticeable and lasts about 10 hours on the skin, much longer on clothes. It’s a seductive perfume I wear for dinner with my partner. It stands out as original in my collection. Although I hate bottles shaped like everyday objects, like the shoe from Good Girl or the glass from Pepe Jeans, I adore this one. What a shame they’ve discontinued these jewels! Scent 8.5/10, Longevity 10/10, Sillage 8/10, Value for money 8/10, Versatility 6.5/10, Packaging 9/10. Would I buy it again? Yes.

It’s sweet but different from the sweet perfumes on the market because it smells like a delicious, subtle banana. In my opinion, it’s wearable all year, day and night. I’m informing @ICL that they have indeed pulled it from the market. What a pity.

Divine Decadence, so rich!!! I bought it a couple of weeks after looking for the original Decadence, but here in Chile it’s scarce (if anyone knows if they discontinued it, please comment). When I tried it in-store, I expected the banana scent and it was exactly that (gold liquid bottle and it’s an EDP). I don’t know any other fragrance with this scent and that’s what I love; it makes it delicious and unique, it’s one of my favorites. I don’t use it every day so I don’t get bored, but the aroma comes to my mind frequently. On my pH-destroying skin, it lasts between 4 and 5 hours, which is a lot, so I’m happy. Medium sillage. I think it’s versatile for any occasion all year, although in this heat it looks better at night. I love it!

A unique aroma; when it dries down, it resembles the original Decadence, but it has a fresher, sparkling opening. It’s softer overall but still powerful because it leaves a trail, and after hours, you notice it when moving, and it lasts longer on the skin, although it’s good longevity. It’s musky, with a sweet touch and something fruity. It’s a difficult scent to compare, distinct, formal yet versatile.

I don’t know why I keep insisting on trying complex perfumes if I can’t enjoy them. I also don’t know why the champagne note smells so weird on me; I’ve tried several and it’s always the same. What do I smell? I looked up the notes to see what it resembles: I smell hydrangea, with very strong saffron, banana gummies, and cut grass. It reminds me of the days my dad was cutting the lawn. Do I like it? No and no. I used it on very hot days and the result was bad. Today I used it at 25 degrees, cloudy and humid, and it still smells bad. I’ll wait for winter to see if the miracle happens there. Otherwise, I need to get rid of it.

I bought this perfume thinking it would be a much more wearable version of the original Decadence, which I love. I thought I could wear it during the day without issues with the same scent. But I was so wrong; this has nothing to do with the original, I didn’t like anything about it. It turned out super sour on my skin and very sharp; I don’t know which note causes this, but I couldn’t handle it. I had to sell it, and now I’ve bought the original, although I can only wear it at night.

To me, this is the daytime version of the original DECADENCE. It follows the same line, very similar but not as overwhelming. It’s still intense, for women with character, not for young girls. It’s feminine but with a lot of attitude. Whoever wears it knows what they want and doesn’t hesitate. It’s a bit more citrusy and softer than the original, so for me, it’s the daily wear from that line. The trail is big but not too much, and it lasts about 8 hours on my skin. I’m so HAPPY they released this version following the same scent as the original that drives me crazy!!!
