I don’t know who reformulated Azzaro to be similar, but they nailed it. It’s a steal, and I think it even beats the reformulated Azzaro. If you like the reformulated Azzaro, buy this for a third of the price.

It’s almost identical to Azzaro, but with a more ‘old man’ vibe, like Old Spice. When I was 16, nothing ever happened with Azzaro, but with Cuba Black, everyone told me I smelled like a grandfather, so I put it away.

  • Smells good, sure, but it’s typical for Cubas. You can tell it’s Azzaro, just much softer. In my home country, there’s a lavender soap called Le Sancy, and this perfume smells exactly like that: clean, like just out of the shower. The downside is it doesn’t last or project much.

  • Smells good, yes, like most Cubas. It resembles Azzaro, but much softer. In my country, there’s a lavender soap, Le Sancy, and this is what it smells like: clean, freshly bathed. The downside is it doesn’t last or project.

It should be clarified that Cuba Black resembles the reformulated Azzaro Pour Homme, not the original (I’ve been a user since the 80s, almost since its launch). Here in Venezuela, we have a national fragrance called HOM with the same characteristics as the reformulated Azzaro, but no one has been able to imitate the original.

  • Very rich fragrance. Despite being woody, it projects a lot of cleanliness. It has similarity with Azzaro, but I also found a resemblance to the discontinued Versace Black Jeans. For its excellent price, it’s worth getting a bottle of this delicious fragrance.

  • Very cheap, but the fragrance quality is terrible. I don’t quite like its aftershave scent; it’s a bit rough and outdated. Poor longevity and weak projection. Maybe it’s not to my taste since I don’t even like Azzaro, although I prefer this one. On the other hand, Rive Gauche surprised me by being more sophisticated. I’m not saying it smells bad; it will have its audience. But it gives me a headache and lasts on the skin about a breath.

  • Very cheap, not just in price: the fragrance quality is terrible. I don’t quite like its aftershave scent, something rough and outdated, with poor longevity and weak projection. Maybe this type of fragrance isn’t my cup of tea, since the original Azzaro Pour Homme doesn’t convince me either, although I prefer that one. On the other hand, Rive Gauche pour Homme surprised me with its ‘classic barber’ scent but with sophistication. In summary, I’m not saying Cuba Black smells bad; it will have its audience. It just gives me a headache and lasts on the skin about as long as a sigh.

Smells better than the new Azzaro Pour Homme, but it’s a pity that the longevity and sillage are a breath. You can reapply every 3 hours and you’re good to go, smelling of fresh woods and anise again. And it costs a third of the other one.

Smells better than new Azzaro, pity that its longevity and sillage are a breath. But if you reapply every 3 hours, you’re good; you’ll smell like fresh, anise-toned woods again. And it costs a third.

  • Seems like a fragrance for mature people, forty and up. I don’t see it as recommended for a young person.

  • For mature men, 40 and up. Notes of jasmine and very ’80s lavender, quite baronial. It smells good, but it associates you with an experienced person who doesn’t want to stand out. It has the DNA of ’80s perfumes. Moderate longevity, 5-6 hours, projection 1-1.5 hours. Very good for a budget option.

  • For mature men, 40 and up. Notes of jasmine and super-eighties lavender. It smells good but is very old-school; it associates you with an experienced guy who knows how to smell good but doesn’t want to stand out. It has the DNA of all 80s perfumes. Moderate longevity of 5 to 6 hours, projection of 1 to 1.5 hours. Great for an economical perfume.

One of the most horrible things I’ve ever smelled. It smells synthetic and cheap, almost makes you want to vomit.

  • A rough, sober scent that doesn’t deceive anyone. Tobacco dominates, with lavender and woody base notes. I remember this Cuba Black from about 8 years ago with decent intensity (7 hours of longevity and good projection). It seems they reformulated it because now it lasts only 3 or 4 hours, almost skin scent. What a shame that cheap fragrances get downgraded like this. Waiting for my second bottle to compare.

  • It’s rough and sober, not trying to fool anyone. Although tobacco dominates, lavender and woods stand out. It reminds me a lot of Azzaro, but it’s not an exact copy. I used it 8 years ago with good projection, but now it seems reformulated. It lasts 3 or 4 hours on the skin. What a shame that the budget ones are also being downgraded in quality.

The resemblance to Azzaro Pour Homme is undeniable, but this one has evolution and quality. In the original, it lasts about 6 hours and evolves from citrus to spicy wood. Cuba Black is linear, more usable for younger people. It lasts 1 to 2 hours, and the sillage barely reaches half an hour. I recommend it for those who want to explore classics and have a reference point.

  • Spectacular. Where do they get the idea that it resembles Azzaro? It must be the reformulation; I used the original in ’88 and they have nothing to do with each other. This Black is a great fragrance. With better performance, it would crush many designers. Tremendous price, 35k pesos in Colombia.

  • , Brutal fragrance. Where do they get the idea that it smells like Azzaro Pour Homme? I wore the original in ’88 and ’89, and there’s not a shred of similarity. This Black is a beast; if it had better performance, it would crush many designer scents. And the price… 35k pesos in Colombia, what a steal!
