Chic for Men by Carolina Herrera is a woody-spicy fragrance for men. Launched in 2003, this composition was created by Carlos Benaïm, Rosendo Mateu, and Jean-Marc Chaillan. Just to help out: if you can’t find certain fragrances in Latin America, look for perfumes in Mexico or outlet stores; there are several importers there, and you can find things hard to get in other countries, like this one, which in my opinion is one of the best I’ve ever smelled and truly won me over. I just managed to get it easily at a perfume store for an excessively cheap price, around 750 pesos, something like $38 here in my city of Guadalajara, Jalisco. Hope this helps, greetings.
I’ll just say: Buy it! You won’t be disappointed, it’s not made to let you down, it’s a masterpiece :D.
It’s a unique fragrance, I think it was really good; they stopped selling it in Argentina, and according to experts, it just didn’t work out. I’ve taken such good care of the bottle, it has great projection, and I always got great compliments; I felt it was something different. From what I’ve seen, they reformulated it, and from what I read, everything came out worse. It’s no longer available in Argentina, one of many that were discontinued.
I was looking for something perfect and special for my partner, different from the usual crowd and trendy scents that fall short and fail to meet expectations. I spent the whole day researching until I found these reviews, and I didn’t miss: it’s exquisite. Soft, masculine, he loved it since he’ll be wearing it, and I love that I’ll get to enjoy it too. Thanks!
Maybe I would have valued it more if it lasted longer; on me, it barely lasts an hour. The little I smelled were hints of cinnamon. The 212 Men is miles better—more pleasant and lasting, easily hitting 6-7 hours.
It’s an older fragrance but well-made. At first, it smells spicy and green, but as it dries down, the pepper and woods come through. A great option for warm weather, and even better if you’re on a budget under $50.
The Carolina Herrera CHIC scent is so good you can’t go wrong. It opens with fresh citrus and watermelon, shifts after about 15 minutes with a hint of pepper and cinnamon, and dries down to a sweet musk. Moderate sillage with a warm base, perfect for spring and fall. I really enjoy the smell.
Absolutely amazing, definitely a must-have.
One of my favorites; I already own my third bottle. Both men and women have given me great compliments. Despite being on the market for years, it’s still in its prime and never goes out of style.
Exquisite fragrance from Carolina Herrera, super versatile and loved by 99% of people, so it never misses. It smells a bit like Antonio Banderas’ Diavolo, the one I used in my youth. Highly recommended.
Carolina Herrera Chic for Men: It’s a signature, one of the brand’s best alongside Herrera Men Privé. Still current, elegantly casual, formal, and informal, versatile in every way. Spicy aroma where pepper dominates the start, then fruity notes and well-executed sandalwood make it one of the house’s best. Sophisticated and beautiful. Not sure if they reformulated it. Scent: 9.0. Projection: moderate. Longevity: 6 hours. Recommended.
Reviewing the 2008 Chic (probably original). I know they reformulated it and the bottle changed (mine had a dark base, now it’s transparent), but mine was amazing. Long-lasting, suitable for any season or time of day, girls loved it, and especially me. I met it through a friend we went out partying with in 2008; before going out, we drank Fernet with Coke at his place, and he wore this gem. After several sprays, he left it on his old TV. I was so amazed I grabbed the bottle to memorize the name. A few days later, I already had the 100ml version. It was my first designer perfume, and for the following years, I bought others to fill the void since I couldn’t find it in my beloved Argentina. I think it’s THE perfume for me, the first of this level that reminds me of my best years. It’s for night, women loved it. I plan to buy it on eBay or internationally, preferably vintage like mine. Worth paying for. 10/10.
I had it in 2011 and it lasted a long time, very versatile. I like it, but only up to a point; it doesn’t feel magnificent to me.
CHIC by Carolina Herrera 🍉🍊💦 Lives up to its name: elegant. The watermelon note is very prominent and pleasant. Tender citrus, woody, and very powdery. Ultra fresh with aquatic tones and clean. A bit old-school, perfect for the office, white shirt, business, and formal occasions. Suitable all year round, timeless, and cozy. Note: could be unisex due to its floral vibe. Longevity: excellent.
It can definitely be a signature scent: versatile, different from current trends, and 100% timeless. What does it smell like? It’s not sweet watermelon; it’s fresh green watermelon with cardamom and creamy masculine sandalwood that adds elegance. Pleasant, overlooked, and underrated. Safe buy because it’s neither complex nor challenging. Normal performance: 6 hours with moderate sillage.
Another one I absolutely loved because it keeps the 90s DNA alive. It’s like reliving late 90s MTV: that forgotten band that returns with the same vibe. Appetizing opening: fresh limes and juicy mandarins yielding to warm, powdery cinnamon. Development features spicy pepper, sweet cardamom, and woody cedar that makes it mature and old-school, but like Deftones, the best comes at the end. Warm amber base with fruity sweetness (watermelon) and sparkling musk. Underrated in Mexico. Energetic, fresh, sweet, and comforting. Ageless, radiating joy and confidence. Exquisite, elegant, and fun. Versatile and affordable. Lasts 5 hours, better for night. Heavy square bottle with black cap and golden liquid. Reminds me of leaving school for pizza, video games, jokes, and cute girls. K.
Contrary to all reviews, it only smells good at the start; it doesn’t last, has no sillage, and by the end of the day it smells like nothing. My bottle arrived with a broken spray; terrible materials. Sad to be stuck with the Antonio Puig distributor. Hope this helps anyone considering buying it. Batch 12011 from 2021.
CHIC is an underrated and forgotten gem, what a shame. It was my favorite back in 2004; maybe they reformulated it? It smells very friendly, nothing intrusive, with formidable sillage and contained projection that still leaves a mark. After collecting, I confirm it was always my top pick. The best part is its warm amber-fruit base (watermelon) over woods, where the sandalwood is sweet and creamy, tonka bean adds smokiness and darkness, and cinnamon closes it off powdery.
Not for everyone; better to test before spending. It feels a bit intrusive to me, with an air of old-world formality that just doesn’t suit my style.
A timeless classic. The opening is spicy with pepper and citrus, then dries down to an amber-woody scent with a touch of synthetic watermelon sweetness. Lasts 6-8 hours on my skin, moderate but heavy sillage; I’ve gotten tons of compliments. Great for daily wear if you’re going semi-formal or formal.
Definitely excellent; I recommend it blindly. Longevity is poor for the price—you have to apply it more than 12 times to make it last. Scent: 9/10, Trail: weak, Longevity: 5/10, Overall: 7/10.
Even though I hated it, I always recommend trying new things. It smells like spilled and dried grapefruit soda with way too much sugar. For me, it was just too unpleasant.
Excellent scent; I used it at 15 and loved it. Now it’s hard to find, and I wouldn’t buy it again because it smells like a distant chapter of my life, but it’s one of Carolina Herrera’s best. King of compliments.
I hadn’t tried it in 20 years until a friend passed it to me today. The bottle was almost empty; I’m not sure if it was from use or age. It brought back immediate memories. It still holds up without being cheesy. Its name defines it: Chic. Fresh, spiced with a touch of sweetness. If I try it again, I’ll analyze it better, but I already want my bottle back.
One of my favorites in terms of base notes, though I have mixed feelings about it.
No way; the watermelon opening is nice, but the cardamom is too strong and dominates the dry-down. Very masculine; don’t buy it blindly if you don’t like that note.
Forget it; it’s cloying to the point where I can’t recommend it.
This perfume is crazy good—elegant and very current. The watermelon note is delicious. Too bad they stopped making it. Goes well with everything, but looks best with formal wear.
I love it; super versatile and soft for daytime, leaves you feeling clean. Lasting power is decent, perfect for the office.
Top notes, scent, and longevity are 90% for 212 Men.
I have mixed feelings about this fragrance… while it’s not one of my favorites, it does have a quite pleasant, wearable scent. Personally, I think it works better in cool climates, not cold ones; in summer, it can become cloying. It’s an elegant fragrance with prominent notes of pepper, cinnamon, and cedar, which personally feel very warm to me. Ideal for the office if you control the sprays. It doesn’t stand out for a unique personality, as there are better options on the market, but it won’t leave you indifferent.
Similar to traditional 212 but more masculine, sexier, and semi-formal. You can really taste a rich, slightly spicy watermelon. Longevity is 7 hours with good projection. I love this fragrance because it’s suitable for everything, though better for dates and semi-formal events. Buy it—you won’t be disappointed.
An all-rounder, very versatile. Sweetish watermelon opening that shifts after two hours to become creamier. Honestly, for the affordable price, it’s great. Very happy I bought it.
A sensual scent where a fresh and warm symbiosis combine to create a unique essence. Leaning towards unisex-male, I find it versatile for semi-formal occasions or dates in any weather. However, certain notes shine best in one season while others excel in another, giving it a mysterious, chameleon-like character—that’s its originality. This is an underrated fragrance for the sensations it evokes and the quality of its composition. The evolution is very marked; there’s no linear perception, and each facet reveals the high quality of its ingredients. Despite not being an expensive fragrance, this denotes why it’s a classic of the 2000s. Watermelon, cinnamon, and sandalwood give it a balanced, subtly sweet, and very attractive touch for women. It’s a fruit-and-spice blend perfectly balanced, making it a unique, easy-to-love scent that wraps the wearer in a distinct character unlike the rest.
Exquisite fragrance, sexy, semi-formal. Although discontinued, you can still find it in some perfumeries. Keep in mind that the latest batches no longer have the same performance as the first ones. While every skin is different, on mine the recent batches lasted around 3–4 hours, whereas the original ones reached 6–7. It’s not a perfume known for strong sillage or projection, even with the early batches. Still, if it’s your signature scent, just reapply. I disagree with the idea that perfumes must last 8 hours; there are plenty of niche examples that don’t even reach 4. That said, if you can find it and don’t mind reapplying, go for it—it’s becoming harder to find, and its aroma is masculine and sexy.
It’s a rich, fresh, slightly sweet scent, but I don’t detect any watermelon note at all. It has the vibe of a perfume from the early 2000s.
Chic for Men by CH… I owned this fragrance in mid-2005; the bottle was almost black and the quality was spectacular… back then, when I went out to clubs and wore this, I felt like I was surrounded by a cloud of rich aroma all night, powerful with an exceptional trail! Compliments never stopped!!! The scent centered around spiced watermelon, with cardamom and cinnamon lingering in the base… Simply spectacular… In 2025, I managed to grab a couple of bottles from the 2025 batch (I didn’t know they were still making it, or maybe they relaunched it)… Regarding this batch, the opening feels a bit more citrusy than before… I also notice the performance leaves much to be desired. The scent resembles the original 212 a bit. In the dry down, it’s similar to the early batches but 10 times weaker… It’s a spectacular fragrance, too bad it went through so many changes… I bought two bottles and I’m evaluating whether to sell one… A real shame, honestly. I don’t recommend buying the new batches; they weren’t the same as before. Cheers.
It smells like 212 but… much better. I think it’s that spicy watermelon note paired with pepper. The opening declares many citrus notes, but what really stands out is the watermelon. I wouldn’t wear it in autumn, let alone at night. It’s a completely summer and spring profile. Beach or sunny garden, you’ll stand out. The presence of sandalwood and musk creates harmony, giving it a creamy, slightly powdery touch to a fresh, citrusy scent that offers charm and earns you compliments. As for longevity, about 6 hours; excellent projection for the first 2–3 hours, then it becomes more intimate. Even though it’s discontinued, you can still find it, and I wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase.
A delicious perfume, extremely versatile, with a sexy touch—fresh, warm in the dry down, and so on. An absolute must-have all-rounder.
It’s the 212, with minimal changes…
