Cherry Fever by Lunio

Second perfume of the perfect symbiosis between Antonio as the visible face of Lunio and master Daniel Josier. I’ve spent several days dissecting this magnificent beast that is Cherry Fever and I can say I’ve enjoyed every revealed layer every nuance and every unexpected twist. Cherry Fever is alive: it changes dances hides and even winks at you between mocking and lascivious. So alive that I swear I saw the bottle breathing out of the corner of my eye. In its initial opening I receive a hit of pure sweet cherry of a childish lollipop but very far from the innocence it should possess: a little red cap enjoying her candy while staring fixedly at the wolf to see if she eats her instead of the grandmother. That sensation lasts a minute two at most but it’s a guilty sensuality that cuts the breath. Then the heliotrope the modest violet flower that dreamed of being a fruit orchid with its vanilla-embedded cherry scent unfolds beyond that start: the vanilla is not synthetic or plastic but creamy and airy yet with a sweetness that remains corseted by a palisade of toasted cinnamon not ground but crunchy bark and woody even with a spicy hint of pepper which rescues the entire opening from any trace of excessive cloying. The agarwood is not intrusive or animalistic; in fact it’s imperceptible and it acts as a support holding up all the ethereal giving it body and density. That mixture generates an unexpected and delicious alchemical accord of sweet almonds which will always remind me of the destiny of reciprocated loves correcting Juvenal Urbino’s misgivings and will remain sewn to the skin for the entire life of the perfume. An opening in short that skirts the gourmand without crossing the line of a feline lustful and elastic sensuality like the light caress of juicy lips outlined with dense sticky caramel those that get tattooed on the neck as a reminder of a reckless kiss. And comes the magic in the dry down; a first part appearing around the hour where the true fruit finally embraces the heliotrope and gives it a point of acidity that amalgamates against a subtle fine leather very far from the well-groomed young man’s suede but a rogue leather of a fine jacket well-polished and shiny left to the elements over cherry trees laden with flowers and fruits. At this point around 3-4 hours they join the chorus: a kaleidoscopic amber those that gild the transparency of light over which smokes a benjoin resin oily reddish and primitive reminiscent of shamans with weathered faces and bonfires of wood roasted to a bright red where their love sparkles crackling with the leaves of a liquorish and earthy patchouli forming a sort of smoky and feral kirsch. Here the perfume transforms into an animal on the prowl: it envelops you seems to abandon you and when you move you get clawed by intense aroma sometimes sweet other times smoky and even alcoholic but always cherry in different parts of its journey that ends on my skin at 7-8 hours from its start. Cherry Fever is a Red warm and hot perfume of a dark terracotta wet sensuality in different layers that change like a loving heart with an insulting and guilty sexuality of a rogue look with the bride on her way to the altar of liquid cherry dripping down the inner thigh of a leg seeking to be licked to its very root a children’s story in full adolescence wolf with sheepskin shared liquor lip to lip warm and pungent. Hummingbird tongue fleeting soaked in nectar. Cherry fever is guilty love more desire than love more love than lust depending on the day and its heartbeat. It’s a perfume that kidnaps. I warn you if you wear it call the police already. I am already lost.

This is my second perfume from this brand by the same perfumer, Daniel Josier; Lunio certainly doesn’t have bad taste. I won’t deny the obvious: yes, it opens with a Kojak lollipop-like scent, but on my skin, it lasts about five minutes. Soon, a suede and a beautiful leather note emerge, followed by wonderful woods, always with a hint of caramelized cherries underneath, eventually turning into something sweeter while keeping the suede and wood. It’s like an old wooden box of noble quality, lined with leather, where ripe cherries were stored in the suede, and the scent lingers. The dry down is caramel, amber, resinous, woody, with just the right sweetness and the proper dose of sun-ripened cherry. It lasts the whole workday without issues and without over-applying. Its projection and sillage are not excessive, respecting what the creators say: close-to-skin fragrances for enjoyment by those accompanying you, not for everyone in a restaurant or an auditorium, and I agree with that. Congratulations on this perfume, very versatile for autumn-winter, which I like and find as comforting as Ambre Tabac by Josier. Perfect perfumes for those who enjoy warm, amber scents with a certain sweetness but without cloyingness. Great work by Lunio; I wish them a long life as long as they continue to take care of the perfume, the creative line, the quality of the juice, and the high-level packaging without ostentation. BRAVO LUNIO, BRAVO ANTONIO AND DANIEL, KEEP UP THIS GOOD WORK. P.S.: I’m surprised that yesterday my rating was 4.7 and today it dropped to 3.58 with less than double the votes. It seems the voters today either didn’t like it at all or unleashed their haters from their dens… Fragantica is a mess.

Antonio’s groupies are so committed; writing reviews just to defend a product is so sweet. But I’m not a fan of reviewers, nor do I buy a brand just because the guy selling it is likable. So let’s give it a go. This perfume arrived in Mexico a couple of weeks ago, and being smart, I bought a decant instead of a full bottle, like I did with Neroli Nostrum (which I like but wouldn’t wear, it’s too feminine, especially when dried). This cherry shit doesn’t even deserve to be a gift. Here in Mexico, there’s a caramel cherry palette called Tutsi, and this perfume reminded me of the Tutsi cherry booties from Christmas. That nostalgia is nice because I hadn’t remembered that smell in ages, but wanting to smell like that all day long seems ridiculous. Plus, the sweetness doesn’t add much versatility: it’s a candied cherry and vanilla scent that’s cloying. Does it improve as it dries? Unfortunately, it gets worse; the sweet, grating cherry that assaults you at the start fades, and the worst facet emerges. It’s a gourmand perfume, a vanilla cherry with heliotrope that I absolutely hate. It lasts forever, to the point of being annoying; I sprayed it maybe 4 times and could still smell it for hours, unfortunately. BUY A DECANT, DON’T RISK A BLIND BUY, THIS DOESN’T DESERVE IT.

I’ll be the first to write about Cherry Fever… The opening is a powerful lollipop-style cherry scent that gives way to a darker phase, softening the initial punch, followed by cinnamon and amber. Projection is wide for the first hour, then settles closer to the skin, making it ideal for dates or dinner. It prefers cooler weather; while not impossible to wear in summer, you need to apply it sparingly. Longevity on me never drops below 9 hours. After trying many perfumes, I can say this is one that basically everyone likes. At first, I think it might even be more appealing than Neroli Nostrum among the cherry perfumes I’ve tested. It doesn’t remind me of any specific scent, though I haven’t tried every cherry fragrance out there. What does remind me of are the first 5 minutes of Zuccarata, which is curious since it lacks almond, but the heliotrope note achieves that similarity. For me, Cherry Fever is very worthy, highly evocative, and delicious. The notes change and evolve perfectly.

I heard about it by chance when a friend brought me a decant (I already had it reserved). I can’t wait to try it in full and will post a detailed review later. I liked the scent; the opening is indeed a certain kojak-leather, but soon the woods and skin notes emerge, making it absolutely delicious. Although this post isn’t much of a review (I’ll do that later when I’ve tested it thoroughly), I’m joining Juanjiniko’s opinion: just like with Jeremy’s fragrances, there’s a backlash of negative votes from haters against this one from a YouTuber. People who haven’t even tried it and vote ‘I hate it.’ What a shame that this fantastic hobby gets tarnished by hatred toward the person or perfumer, instead of focusing on what unites us: the appreciation of scents. I can’t imagine diving into a fragrance with a note I hate, like bitter almond, just to complain. If it’s something I hate, I simply don’t try it because it’s not for me.

Despite the heaviness with which its detractors try to talk us out of it Cherry Fever is not a bad perfume. It’s a nice scent I enjoy quite a bit with excellent performance. The opening is fantastic with lots of cherry that reminds me of lollipops or the Chupa Chups Kojak with a slight fruity note. As it dries the smell becomes a bit darker with soapy and smoky aspects and a base that remotely reminds me of Ambre Tabac but without losing the cherry scent. Although I like its evolution I’d love if it stayed in the opening. It’s completely unisex on my skin it has moderate sillage and lasts about 10 hours. I see it as perfect for night outings and will wear it with short dresses boots and a leather jacket. Scent 7.5/10 Longevity 10/10 Sillage 7/10 Value for Money 8/10 Versatility 7.5/10 Packaging 7/10. Would I buy it again? Maybe.

I’ve worn over 300 perfumes, and whether due to bad taste or bad luck, I’ve only received compliments on perfume three times in my life: Ralph Lauren Green, Bois Imperial by Essential Parfum, and Cherry Fever by Lunio. It’s an aroma that is hard not to like, with a feminine opening that dries down to something gender-neutral. It smells like Mr. Pepper, that British cola drink, and has a Penhaligon’s-like aura (this is pure olfactory memory). It’s very long-lasting with a notable but not intrusive or offensive sillage. It’s a wardrobe staple you can buy blind.

I bought the Lunio discovery set excited about the beautiful trinchina and indigo suede, but I approached Cherry Fever out of curiosity. The opening was an expansive candy floss sweetness, just as I expected. The surprise came during the dry down: delicious and elegant. The cherry melted into a very well-orchestrated woody and amber base. Hours later, even though the cherry faded, the resins and woods remained. It’s the second fragrance from this brand I’ve loved; I’ll get a larger decant.

Good fragrance. It has a cherry lollipop opening that I hate but disappears in a couple of minutes to settle into a compilation of floral benzoin with cinnamon. Everything is very balanced. The final dry down is what I like the most where you notice a hint of vanilla accord and always with the cherry in the background. It’s a pity that at that evolution point it stays close to the skin. It lasts about 8 hours well with contained projection but it has good sillage.

Cherry takes center stage from start to finish. Although the oud and leather try to darken it, it still feels more feminine. It leaves a caramel impression, but wearing it frequently smells like too much cherry. At 110 euros, filling a 100ml bottle is a tough sell. I’ve read that Daniel Josier submitted a similar proposal to Tom Ford that was rejected; now I see similarities with Cherry Smoke. Either way, it’s not bad, but I think it’s very expensive.

I agree with Karpinsky. I bought it based on YouTube reviews, and honestly, I didn’t like it. It smells sweet and dusty. My girlfriend didn’t like it either; she said it smelled a bit feminine on me and even asked if I’d been with another lady that day. I like Antonio, but this perfume isn’t as good as Neroli Nostrum; that one is truly something special.
