This is my second review of the Molyneux house, focusing on the Captain EDP. It’s a men’s fragrance that opens with lavender and citrus, resulting in an exquisite scent. The projection is acceptable for the first hour, but the scent fades over time; after four hours, it’s barely detectable up close. It’s best for formal use, ideal for the office; it’s not a compliment getter, but it does its job. Throughout the day, oakmoss, sandalwood, and anise stand out, giving it a masculine and sober vibe. The ideal seasons are winter and autumn, especially in the morning. In short, it’s a sober, masculine fragrance for formal morning wear that will feel right at home in your daily work routine. Smells like barbershop lotion. The aroma is quite linear; citrus notes of bergamot and orange blossom stand out, followed by oakmoss in the background, which adds a certain bitterness. With careful sniffing, you can detect a shy lavender, anise, and sandalwood, but I can’t perceive the guaiac wood, which in other fragrances tends to be very recognizable (smells like an old dentist’s office). I think it resembles Tabac Original but without the dusty vibe. It suits adults better, from 40s onward, for daily wear, since it doesn’t smell elegant.

Batch 497IF2: pleasant, simple, and easy to wear. It’s a well-rounded scent that doesn’t stand out; occasionally someone will compliment it without making a scene. I finished this bottle today and’m already looking for a refill because I can’t find a replacement. It has something that reminds me of the Sauvage scents I’ve sniffed but never owned; this one’s worth a third of the EDT price.
