C for Men by Clive Christian is a woody oriental fragrance for men. Launched in 2010, the nose behind this creation is Christian Provenzano. The top notes are saffron, elemi resin, thyme, and mandarin; the heart notes combine jasmine, rose, iris root, labdanum, yerba mate, and lotus flower; while the base notes reveal leather, oud wood, tonka bean, amber, tobacco, frankincense, styrax, gaiac wood, cedar, musk, and vanilla.

Today’s the day to try this fragrance, and I’m not sure what to make of it. Maybe I need to give it another shot because it has a reputation, and that must mean something… But honestly, it just smells bad to me. I can’t imagine any situation where it would work for me. It’s very similar to Tom Ford’s Tuscan Leather, at least at the start, but this is way more intense, dirty, and animalic. For my taste, the oud with that fruity leather just doesn’t work. It lasts for hours… but it smells really dirty, sometimes reminding me of rotting hay in a barn… I don’t know… Not for me. Still, for quality and performance, it gets a solid 10.
Wearing this fragrance today, which has been super trendy lately—Tuscan Leather. I absolutely love it, even if it doesn’t surprise me as much as before. Unlike the comment below, I don’t find it that animalic; in fact, it feels lighter, especially at first with the mandarin. The trail and longevity are top-notch.
