Bossa by Granado

Dear Cécile, I forgive you because Epic Woman was yours; I don’t rule out that Bossa is someone else’s work and you’re just signing off for the cash. Everyone loves easy money, I get it. Creed did the same with VIW, trading magic for profits. Estée Lauder turned a gem like Bronze Goddess into synthetic slop. Bossa is a composition seen a thousand times, zero originality. The worst part is the quality: it smells like tropical air freshener.

A fragrance that is purely summery, nothing new on purpose. There are plenty with this vibe, but in my opinion, this is the ideal one for the price-to-quality ratio. My competitors, Malibu and VIW, are ridiculously overpriced. This offers something similar at a much more moderate price. Are the others better? Yes. Is it worth paying the difference? No. Citrus opening, no heavy load, with florals. You can definitely smell the coconut at first. It would be the logical evolution of those perfumes. It comes out brighter and dries down to a creamier finish. A sunscreen, get it? Citrus, white flowers, coconut, and musk. That’s it. Great for beach occasions; reasonable for the price. I’ll use it sparingly and it’s not a profile that drives me crazy. Unisex, moderate performance and projection. I’ve worn it for about 4 to 5 hours.

Total disappointment regarding longevity. It smells amazing and gives off a great summer vibe, but it doesn’t last for the price. I won’t buy it again. I’d only consider it if they released a perfume version that lasted longer. Disappointed.

Same old story: hype from a few ‘experts’ on YouTube and a fragrance that doesn’t last more than an hour on skin (confirmed). Designer-level price when it should be supermarket-level given its performance and sillage. Does it smell bad? No. Does it stand out enough to justify the purchase? Not really. It’s a pleasant aroma that would be a steal if Mercadona sold it, or if Lidl bottled it for ten euros. But at this price? No. It’s just misleading others. I’m tired of reviews that sell smoke instead of perfume.

In my perception, the top notes are citrus, and soon the monoi scent takes over the coconut; in the base, there’s musk. As for performance, I expected more. Over the two days I’ve worn it, it hasn’t lasted more than 45 minutes. One hour of moderate projection, then it fades to a personal bubble that lasts about 5 hours. I feel it’s meant for personal enjoyment, not to make a statement. The aroma is very rich, though.

Additionally, the bottle doesn’t give very good vibes. On the other hand, the price is quite reasonable at 55 EUR including shipping, and they had the decency not to raise it after the fuss. I regret (relatively) buying it, but only because I already had VIW and this is a slightly inferior version. Nevertheless, it is a fully recommended alternative for those who don’t have VIW in their collection.

A great proposal from the Brazilian house. A citrus/marine opening that gives way to frangipani, tiaré, and coconut milk. Sunscreen-type aroma, totally vacational and fun. Lasts about 7 hours on my skin with moderate projection and trail. Unisex, informal, and for the heat, a very enjoyable fragrance. Excellent value for money thanks to C. Zarokian. Highly recommended.

100% tropical. I really liked the opening, but the dry-down turns into a sunscreen scent that sounds more like feminine perfumes. If the opening lasted longer, I’d wear it, but the finish doesn’t convince me. It’s a well-constructed, quality fragrance, just not for me in terms of development.

Summer and cheerful fragrance, suitable for wearing casually on hot days. It opens fully citrusy (lime) and is diffusive thanks to coumarin. After about 20 minutes, you can appreciate the C18 aldehyde that gives the coconut scent to the blend, though over time it will fade into the background. Meanwhile, timidly, slight marine and yellow floral notes appear. The musk takes on a leading role, being present throughout the fragrance’s duration. In my case, it lasts about 6 hours, with moderate trail and projection. After an hour and a half, it reminds me quite a bit of Adolfo Domínguez’s lime-tonka fresh water, except that in this one we don’t find the slight coconut touch that Bossa has in the dry-down. The fragrance feels high-quality, although it’s true that the essential oils and chemical aromas used are not especially expensive (frangipani and tiaré are a bit pricier, but nothing exorbitant). This is why I think it’s slightly overpriced (60€ for 100ml) for the type of casual fragrance it is. Personally, this Bossa is completely dispensable for me, as the dry-down is very similar to Lima-Tonka (which cost me less than 20€ for 200ml), and it would also be similar to the inspiration I have for Creed’s Virgin Island Water.
