  I used White Musk Splash from The Body Shop years ago and loved it—musky and woody for any weather. When I bought this mist at the supermarket thinking it was identical to TBS, I made a fatal mistake by not testing it on skin. It’s not bad; it has good quality, great sillage, and 5-hour longevity, but the dry-down disappoints me with a note I can’t stand, maybe neroli, aldehydes, or yellow flowers, giving it a ‘lady-like’ vibe. Fragrances follow trends like fashion: aldehydes and strong musks used to dominate, now it’s gourmands and fruits. White musk is synthetic, but here there’s an animalic touch vaguely reminiscent of Paloma Picasso. If you like lordly and musky scents, it’s perfect for you; in short, I hated it, but it’s very high quality.

  Smells like soap and clean—a soft soapy vibe reminiscent of Nina Ricci’s Air du Temps, like the soap in a five-star hotel. Perfect after a shower and before bed.

  I bought three blind-bottles and went for it because reviews mentioned Nivea or Dove-style beard notes, which I’m a huge fan of. Oh surprise, they were right: creamy, soapy, clean, and ethereal, totally unisex. Maybe its delicacy makes it seem feminine, but I feel comfortable wearing it, loving that Dove bar creaminess. It lasts long; I douse myself before bed to feel secure, and I catch hints of Chanel No. 5 that also remind me of Dove.
