  Bapteme Ambre has two very distinct facets: an almost mentholated freshness that clashes with an amber and resinous base, balanced with just the right amount of sweetness. The result is rich; the rose is spicier and darker, while the cinnamon adds creaminess. The resins (benzoin, opoponax) are noticeable but always blended with that initial spicy kick. Although original, it smells a lot like Amouage’s Enclave (which came out a year earlier). Pierre Guillaume, who created it, already has similar accords in his brand. Compared, Enclave is more complex and higher quality, but Bapteme Ambre is a great perfume and much cheaper. I like it; it’s perfect for cold weather, semi-formal or formal events, works for everyone, and has great performance. A unique and worthy example in the amber perfume category. Rating: 7.5
