Awake proves that not everything is what it seems: if you’re looking for a sweet Starbucks-style coffee, you’ll be disappointed. Instead, it smells like freshly cut beans with that initial lemon note—fresh and vibrant. It then evolves into ground and roasted coffee, with woody and boozy hints that evoke a cabin in the woods brewing a drink, not the final result. The longevity is brutal, though the sillage is short, making it sexy, modern, and perfect for dates; in the office, it goes unnoticed, as if you just spilled coffee on yourself (9/10).

Enjoying a good cup of coffee at home or in a café is a pleasure, and Awake by Akro conveys that with comforting warmth. Coffee takes center stage, surrounded by chocolatey nuances reminiscent of cookies or pastries. The opening features citrus notes of lemon, followed by ambergris and finally a woody base with vetiver and cardamomo accents. It’s the perfect perfume for coffee lovers: realistic yet elegant, sweet without being cloying, and versatile—ideal for cold or rainy days.

It could be one of the best coffee fragrances I’ve ever tried.

Imagine waking up in a paradise hotel with the scent of freshly brewed coffee from your partner everywhere. You step out of the bathroom smiling, shaved, and calm, ready for a peaceful day. Awake is a totally authentic coffee aroma. At first, it’s very noticeable, but over time it becomes sweeter and softer, with a linear development. The intense coffee note transitions into a strong, tasty cappuccino, accompanied by citrus and cardamomo. The performance is acceptable: neither too long nor too short, perfect for relaxed moments where there’s no rush.

It smells of freshly roasted and ground coffee beans, a genuine morning energy boost. In the opening, lemon and cardamomo make it fresh, but as it dries down, it becomes sweeter with brown sugar, floral touches, and a lactonic hint. Although it’s gourmand, the spices give it a light and distinct character. For me, it’s a cortado: not too bitter like black coffee, nor too creamy like with milk. I see it as 100% unisex, ideal for autumn/winter, and it’s irresistible even to those who don’t like coffee. Longevity is over 10 hours, with high projection at the start that becomes intimate after 7-8 hours. It’s the best coffee-scented fragrance with nuances I’ve tried, better than Coffee Addict, and its quality-to-price ratio is 10/10.

Super realistic roasted beans. It’s my favorite from the Akro discovery kit so far.

It pulls out a super realistic coffee, but luckily (and not because I don’t like coffee, but due to the olfactory experience) it mixes with lemon and cardamom to create something distinct: black coffee. As it dries down after several hours, it is identical to Montale’s Chocolate Greedy. Bestial longevity. I recommend it only for winter mornings. Tested and approved. ✌🏾✅🤝🏾

It’s a very sugared black coffee that I found very pretty. The lemon and cardamomo add freshness so it’s not as obvious or realistic as my beloved Coffee Addict by Theodoros Kalotinis (which I actually like more than Awake). As it dries down, it reminds me of roasted coffee beans with a woody base. It has moderate sillage and over 10 hours of longevity on my skin, leaving a delicious scent that lasts days on clothes. I’ve liked it quite a bit, but it hasn’t captivated me quite like Dark, which was an immediate buy after testing. For now, I won’t keep it. Scent 7.5/10, Longevity 10/10, Sillage 7.5/10, Value/Price 7.5/10, Versatility 7/10, Packaging 6/10. Would I buy again? I didn’t end up buying it.

I first encountered this perfume via a small sample. Since I’ve never been interested in coffee notes in fragrances, I didn’t pay much attention to it. I applied it without expecting anything, wondering what scent I’d use later once this aroma faded, but I got a lovely surprise. I loved this coffee scent at first sniff—a well-sugared bean coffee, very simple but also very pretty. I liked it so much that I bought it on the spot, taking advantage of a good deal. The aroma is quite realistic; I can’t see who wouldn’t like this sweet coffee, though I’d still suggest testing it first. As for performance, I only applied about 1ml and it projected for half a day. Based on what I’ve read, it has good performance, so I’m more than happy with this first introduction to Akro and coffee perfumes.

Amazing perfume… distinct and distinctive without falling into the grotesque, very pleasant… as recommended as having a cup of coffee to start the day. For someone with many perfumes, thinking of a signature fragrance is impossible and discarding the rest is a Herculean task… well, this one would be among mine…

Creamy, spiced, and sweet coffee aroma… it can get cloying for those who don’t like sweet things. Good fragrance, but I don’t recommend buying it blindly; it’s peculiar.

It’s a pretty gourmand, but nothing cloying or typical of ‘feminine’ scents. Its notes are very literal: coffee with lemon, slightly sweetened, and with spices. The curious thing is that it doesn’t smell like warm coffee, but rather cold coffee. It must be the vetiver and my personal association, since at a local coffee shop they make that drink (coffee, milk, lemon syrup, ice, and cinnamon sprinkled on top of the foam). On a male skin, it stays fresher; on a female skin, it sweetens a bit towards the dry down. Longevity is 6-8 hours, with moderate sillage.

Everyone knows where they first fell in love with coffee. That’s exactly how the description of Oliver Cresp’s masterwork ‘Awake’ reads from his house ‘Akro,’ where he has attempted to capture various human vices in scents. And yes, here he has exceptionally reproduced one of mine: coffee. Those who love coffee know the abyssal differences between a substitute and real bean coffee; they can also distinguish between different roasts and the freshness of the roast. ‘Awake’ is a real bean coffee, medium-dry roast, with a dusty top note. Imagine turning the coffee grinder; grain by grain, it begins to be crushed by the grinder’s teeth. That smell is the first thing you’ll perceive with ‘Awake.’ I insist, it’s not espresso bean; it’s the medium roast, the one ideal for Chemex or V60. This coffee, overflowing with depth, strength, and robustness, is wonderfully accompanied by a sweet aura in the dry down where very lively citrus notes appear, generating an almost salivating sensation. This facet gives way to a warm heart, like being in a coffee shop: roasted bean aromas, not just coffee, but nuts, hazelnuts, even wood. It is a full-on gourmand, yet far from being cloying, and at the same time not bitter. There are facets of the perfume that become slightly acidic (yes, exactly like the flavors of filtered coffee). Cresp masterfully achieves a difficult balance for those recreating the coffee accord. ‘Awake’ is, without a doubt, the best coffee perfume I’ve ever smelled. Highly recommended.
