A work of art that reinvents sticky, spiced, dark, and dry oud, blended with smoky tea, dark licorice vanilla, leather, cedar, and an indescribable habano note that leaves you speechless. A beauty that feels like a mix of several perfumes yet surpasses them all; I can only compare it to Black Orchid mixed with Midnight Paris and touches of Chanel Allure. It’s unisex, as I noticed a different and extraordinary performance on both men and women.
A work of art reinventing the gummy, spiced, dark, and dry oud, alongside smoky tea, a darker and syrupy vanilla, leather, cedar, and a habano note not listed in the description that leaves you speechless. A beauty that could be a blend of several perfumes, but it would still fall short of reaching this masterpiece. I can only give a reference like Black Orchid mixed with Midnight Paris and touches of Chanel Allure. It’s unisex, as I felt a different and extraordinary performance on both men and women.
It smells oriental, but in an American style with that vanilla touch perceived alongside the agarwood (oud); it’s contemporary, suitable for any age and leaning towards casual/formal, ideal for semi-temperate climates, though it works in the cold too, only that the scent becomes softer. The woods smell soft and the clove is sweet; it reminds me of a dessert; in my country, Venezuela, they call it arroz con leche. It’s sensual, but not too much for my taste. You can smell the black tea, and it smells very real, though it doesn’t stand out. The truth is, after five hours, the projection drops significantly and it becomes super sweet (bad phase, very bad for my skin). The leather is subtle but there. I recommend not buying blind, but for lovers of contemporary orientals, it would be worthwhile to try it. Projection: 8/10, Longevity: 7.5/10, Scent: 7/10, Quality: 8/10, Projection: 7/10, Fixation: 8/10, Originality: 8.5/10, Total: 8/10.
I received a free sample and I have to say, I loved it. It’s a different oud, not the typical pink/oud/vanilla combo that all brands exploit to the end. Here, the oud is noticeable but blends with green notes and other woods that soften it and give it character. The opening didn’t suit me much; the first half-hour smells excessively strong, exactly like black licorice. But as it dries down and the tea with that soft vanilla background appears, it becomes irresistible. It’s a totally versatile oud. Although it’s marketed as masculine, I see it as unisex. It’s not an oud for everyone, so I recommend not buying blind: what was a positive surprise for me could be a disappointment for someone else. Scent: 9, Longevity: 9, Projection: 8, Value: 7, Versatility: 8, Originality: 9, Overall: 8.5.
Hi, this is my first review on Fragrantica, where I keep learning (thanks to everyone, especially Darkbeat for his advice and samples). I wanted to start my journey by reviewing this fragrance because I’m excited about it and got it at a good price; it was my first serious purchase after my Egoiste bottles (I fell in love with its opening and got disillusioned lately. It was my signature and only scent, aside from a few gifts or later attempts). Anyway, His Majestic the Oud by Atkinsons was a Russian roulette and a 50% indulgence. I was craving the vanilla (along with the cinnamon, which I’ve been chasing since falling for Egoiste) and, at the same time, wanted to dive into the world of oud with a light touch. Full hit! To my taste, it’s a scent I can summarize in two words: elegant and prudent, with good longevity and projection. I don’t think the recommended retail price is realistic, at least for an untrained nose like mine. Maybe it’s the raw materials. When I see fragrances that exceed €300 and drop to €180-200, I suspect it’s more about elitism and exclusivity than reality (like owning a Ferrari or a Rolls-Royce). I can’t imagine rating it with so little experience, maybe later on.
The bottle has a bright gold color; it’s gorgeous. The scent is an ode to Great Britain. It’s not unisex; it’s designed for people over 30.
A treasure. It lasts forever; I already own one and want another just to have a backup.
Excellent fragrance, though I’m selling it because it smells too much like Oud Save the King from the same house (and I prefer the latter). Also, in my city, the cold doesn’t last long. Projection 8/10, longevity 9/10, scent 8.5/10, and price 9/10.
An excellent fragrance, though I’ll be selling it because I find it too similar to the Oud Save the King from the same house (and I have more affection for that one). Also, winter in my city is short. Projection 8/10, longevity 9/10, scent 8.5/10, and price 9/10.
Amazing perfume! If you like sandalwood, you’ll love this because it’s present from the very first moment. It’s a rounded sandalwood that doesn’t suffocate, vanilla-scented, and incredibly rich for cold weather; it wraps you in a warm smell. It has good projection: if you apply it to your wrist and walk, you can smell it without touching your neck. The longevity is good, just like in Other Side of Oud or Oud Save the King: about eight hours without issues. High quality in this Atkinsons series, for sure.
Amazing perfume! Just make sure you like sandalwood, as it’s present from the very beginning. It’s a round, non-overpowering sandalwood, vanilla-scented, and perfect for cool or cold weather, wrapping you in a warm aroma. It has plenty of trail; if you apply it to your wrist, you can smell it as you walk without needing to dab your neck. The longevity is also great, similar to Other Side of Oud and Oud Save the King, lasting about eight hours without issues. High quality in this Atkinsons series, for sure.
It keeps its promise: elegant and dark, but with a caveat. The oud smells like roasted coffee, spices, and dusty woods alongside the sandalwood. That kind of oud reminds me of coffee, but in the end, it gets overwhelming, perhaps due to the sandalwood. Not for me.
