Descripción

Aqva Pour Homme Marine by Bvlgari is an aromatic aquatic fragrance for men. Launched in 2008, the nose behind this composition is Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. The top notes unfold with grapefruit, neroli, mandarin, and petit grain; the heart reveals aquatic notes, sea algae, and rosemary; while the base notes settle on Virginia cedar and amber.

  • Personally, I prefer sticking with Aqva Pour Homme, Atlantiqve, or Amara… This one feels very acidic on the opening and too linear. Over time, you feel the algae and the sea, but the citrus remains and never disappears. So much grapefruit, mandarin, etc., tires me out. I think the base notes could have used a patchouli or vetiver. It’s not a bad perfume, but to be honest, I stick with its brothers.

  • Very fleeting. The fragile, shy brother of Homme. It’s a combination of Bvlgari Homme and Light Blue by Gabbana. Very rich since it shares the best of both: fresh, harmonious aquatic, versatile, and not boring. I acquired the kit with the Eau de Toilette, shampoo, and cream. The downside: impossible to last past 4 hours. Maybe that’s its normal performance? I don’t know, but it was another disappointment. Anyway, it was a rich proposal. Thanks and greetings.

I bought it as a novice and didn’t know the stages of a perfume. I loved its fresh, clean opening, the everyday perfume… But after a few minutes, my skin smelled like egg white with something marine underneath, disgusting; I always associated it with algae, or maybe it was my pH. I gave it away. The positive is that it has good longevity, but it wasn’t for me.

  • alvaro_Dplo

I haven’t used it much, but so far, it doesn’t surprise me. The opening is fresh, pleasant, and you can smell the algae (something many people detest), but the performance is quite poor. I don’t know if it’s due to the sun or if it’s normal, but it disappointed me. If it lasted longer and nothing else was noticeable except at skin level after an hour, it would be a standout perfume.

The mandarin takes all the attention. It’s fresh, citrusy, and marine. Its trail and longevity aren’t its strong suit, though the initial opening compensates for those shortcomings. Summer days are the perfect setting, even better if you’re at the beach. Compliments won’t be missing. As a bonus, the bottle is stunning.

  • svazquez7

Smells good, aquatic, and refreshing (only for the first 5 minutes), but then in its dry-down it ends up smelling like rotten eggs or spoiled seafood.

  • Another of my loves on second sight… The first time was a couple of years ago, and I didn’t like it at all, but yesterday I ordered it, and what a surprise. I regret not buying it months ago with the 30% discount 🤦♂️. Anyway, refreshing scent and less salty than Atlantiqve. I didn’t smell algae or rotten eggs, just a nice, soft Neroli mixed with rosemary and woody notes. On paper, the aquatic notes didn’t last long; it would need to be tested on skin.

I’m new to perfumery, and this one caught my eye. I went to a store near home to test it. At first, everything was fine; it smelled like someone with lots of money on a yacht, and I thought I’d buy it the next day. But after about 3 or 4 hours, a disgusting smell hit me, like rotten eggs, quite nasty. Luckily, the projection was low; I only smelled it if I put my nose very close. What a pity; it seems my pH isn’t good for this. Curiously, I tried the Pour Homme again, and it stayed for 6 hours with that ‘yacht’ smell. I’m definitely going for the Pour Homme soon. This one is out of the question. A perfume that MUST be tested before buying.

  • Fresh, masculine, energizing, and clean. Although it has a citrus opening, it’s not sharp like lemon or grapefruit, but well-balanced with body. The algae and aquatic notes give it an elegant, addictive masculinity, with a sweet amber base that isn’t cloying. Unique and highly recommended to buy blind. Ideal for the office, formal or casual outings, very comfortable. I think it’s ideal for daytime, but I’d wear it without hesitation at night. The projection isn’t beastly but noticeable. What a great fragrance!

  • My absolute favorite in the line, the queen of aquatic scents. It transports you straight to the beachfront thanks to its algae base, though as another reviewer noted, the mandarin is the star alongside the petit grain. It keeps the DNA of Aqva but takes it a step further: it’s sparklier, fresher, and more citrusy. I own the original and like it, but this one surpasses it. Better longevity than projection; it doesn’t seek attention, just for enjoyment and to remember the sea. You look good in it, and it’s hard to dislike if it suits your skin. Ideal post-workout, after a shower, or for a morning walk. It brings well-being. Regarding the rotten egg or seafood critiques: I don’t perceive it, but every skin is different, and it’s a curse that for some it smells so bad. It’s not a beast; its main flaw is low versatility. Wearing it in winter, at a club, for formal dinner, or at the theater would be a mistake, just like wearing board shorts and flip-flops to a funeral. This is for the beach or heat. It’s unbeatable there. It’s one of the few I’d sleep with on, and I apply it to my wrist just to enjoy it. My partner loves it and says it’s the one he recognizes least because it’s so different. A rarity and a hit; it can’t be missing from my wardrobe.

  • Tapatio.PacificWave

That rotten egg scent that some people notice could be the smell of algae, dampness; it’s like pulling a stone from under a reef and smelling that mix of algae and salinity along with the notes that make it up. A lighter blue, more Pacific compared to Bvlgari Atlantique.

  • I’m not sure if it was the algae, but at first I thought it smelled rotten. No, it was the mint with that note. I tried it years ago, gave it another chance in the end, and it has become a love. Moderate performance (5-6.5h) and a good price. The bottle is stunning, it looks perfect on the vanity. I’ll use it again in summer and hope it doesn’t turn out disastrous with the algae note. For now, it’s one of my favorite aquatic scents. Bvlgari makes sophisticated fragrances with personality.

  • josemarodribaez

The first time I sprayed it on my skin, it smelled like rotten eggs directly. But after trying it several more times, the scent changed; I felt a more compact fragrance and the marine notes convinced me for hot days. Women seem to like it quite a bit based on the reactions I’ve seen.

  • I’ve been testing a decant for a few days and I absolutely love how it smells. It has a marine, fresh, and clean touch. The downside is that on my skin, the sillage is non-existent and it doesn’t last long. If it lasted longer, it would be an amazing perfume.

  • I loved it in decant; it smells refreshing and marine, very delicious. The problem is that when applied to my skin, it’s fine at first, then it develops a very unpleasant egg-like scent that lasts almost the entire life of the fragrance. Definitely not something to buy blind, as it depends heavily on how it reacts to your skin.

  • I don’t own it, only tested it on my skin once. Among designer scents, I think this is the most aquatic of all. It recreates an aquatic landscape so well it even adds seaweed notes. As a landscape, I like it; it’s distinct and doesn’t smell bad, but I wouldn’t wear it on my person. That seaweed note doesn’t smell rotten, but I couldn’t stand it all day. Never buy blind. 4/10.

  • Rich scent that transports you to the sea in summer, citrusy, marine, with a hint of salt. Average performance. I bought it blind and I don’t regret it.

  • Pablo-Andrés

Marine, fresh, and salty… for me, this isn’t masculine; I much prefer Shade of Sea by Issey Miyake.

  • Super rich fragrance, marine and citrusy, perfect for hot weather. It instantly transports me to the ocean, visualizing that beautiful blue sea. Definitely one of my favorites; I’ve had it since 2014 and almost a decade later, I bought it again for college and the beach.

  • Gentil vagabond

Excellent fragrance, with a balance between maritime and elegant, summery and fulfilling. This line is the best in the aquatic field for having good projection and sillage. Recommended.

  • Von Bourbon

First off, I’m not an expert. The reviews about the rotten egg smell (the calone molecule smells like that) caught my attention, and I tested AqMa on a store tester; it seemed unremarkable without unpleasant notes. I saw it at an outlet and thought: Bulgari must have something, so I bought it. It’s a 2017 batch with five and a half years of age, and the sprayer is stuck. The first whiff is strange, I notice something ‘maritime,’ presumably the calone, with jasmine and citrus. It could work as a pier scent on a humid day and doesn’t seem synthetic. Then the perception disappears, maybe nose fatigue? But later the bursts are noticeable, and unlike other cheap perfumes, it lasts much longer. Here comes the dominant note that seduces me: a ‘mix’ of anise and chamomile, a fine and elegant apothecary scent that finally sweetens with amber and cane sugar, maybe refined Iso E Super or Timbersilk. Aqva Marine is a good perfume, with personality, soft and elegant, not intrusive or annoying, fairly linear, and with just enough persistence. Perfect for humid days with air charged with ozone and doesn’t clash on a woman who doesn’t want to smell like flowers. It’s been on the market for years and might seem seen and heard to some.

  • JeanMendoza1410

My RE favorite for summer. It might get a lot of hate for saying it smells like rotten eggs, but it’s only like that on some skins due to pH. I also have the classic Aqva, and neither smells bad; on the contrary, for me, it’s SPECTACULAR. Recommend testing before buying because it’s not for everyone.

  • Mauro.A.81

Excellent perfume: salty citrus and sea algae that really remind me of the sea, the breeze, and the beach. The bottle is very pretty and has good longevity. Very good, Bulgari.

  • Love at first sniff. Tried it a few days ago and bought it directly today. It’s my favorite along with Invictus Legend, both salty maritime style, but the Bulgari one is more balanced (not as sexy) and supremely pleasant; nobody will dislike it. It’s like smelling the sea, being inside the water, or on a boat feeling the breeze… They recreated it perfectly. Simply wonderful. 10/10. Edit: I must criticize the performance; it’s not my skin, as it adapts well to maritime aromas. I have a 2022 batch and it’s been reformulated… A real shame.

  • Mr. Baskerville

I liked it. When I tried Aqva Pour Homme, it seemed okay but not enough; I was looking for something more ‘maritime,’ perhaps more challenging. I went to try Aqva Marine expecting that feeling but with the prejudice of being disappointed. Surprisingly, it doesn’t have that challenging aroma I was looking for, but it’s very pleasant with an informal elegance that I loved. @Fedehart’s review is accurate regarding the notes, impressions, and versatility. Smelling the cardboard gave me a sense of well-being that smiled at me in the perfumery; trying it on skin put me in a very good mood. I’d like more longevity and projection, but they’re acceptable. Didn’t buy it this time, but it’s a future purchase. Highly recommend trying it.

  • They add something disgusting to all perfumes to accentuate the beauty. As a doctor, this perfume makes me imagine a well-dressed, groomed man with a sea breeze and very fresh citrus aroma, but who has bad breath from a rotten root when speaking. Before buying, apply it to your wrist and wait an hour to decide if you like it.

  • Mr Landaulet

My favorite from the Aqva line: at first, I hesitated because of that algal note that smells like rotten eggs to many, something I absolutely can’t tolerate. To be blunt, I bought it for the scent on the cardboard. After showering and applying it, the magic began: the aquatic notes, neroli, mandarin, and grapefruit give a delicious freshness ideal for the heat of my city. I never noticed that rotten egg smell. Performance is decent for an EDT (about 6 hours) and sillage is moderate. If you’re looking for something better than generic aquatic scents like Nautica Voyage, even though it costs more ($87 for me), Aqva Marine is a great option.

  • david_leandro88

After Luna Rossa Sport, this is my all-time favorite. I bought it in Chile years ago; they managed to capture the sea aroma and blend it with citrus. On my skin, it has good longevity. I definitely recommend it.

  • Sofisticado

An exquisite perfume, probably the best-crafted and most balanced marine fragrance on the market, but in my case, it’s barely noticeable. I don’t care about longevity, but I want the perfume to be enjoyable for at least an hour and make itself felt. I don’t know how it performed before, but for me, today, it’s not perceptible—the invisible perfume. A real pity.

  • Maverick Jessu

Buff, what a delight! Starts citrusy with an algal touch and sparkling mandarin, finishing in ambered wood. It’s a work of art with great sillage and longevity. If you like fresh, citrus, and aquatic scents, this is a must-have. Love at first sniff for me. Buy blind.

  • AQVA POUR HOMME MARINE BVLGARI: In the search for blue fragrances, this Aqva line stands out with a perfect balance of freshness and aquatic notes that blend beautifully. It has the ability to make you feel the ocean right in front of you, with its magnificence and endless waters moving with the sound of waves. It evokes nature, its movement, and its effect on us; when you wear it, you feel light, as if you’re flowing with the environment—a very natural and very blue fragrance. As if there were no pollution or trash in the world, as if it were always a sunny day with clear skies. Everything is crystal clear, wet, white, clean, and alive. A perfume that, when worn, leaves a trail and a cheerful demeanor that you don’t just smell but feel. If you’re looking for a fragrance that brings a positive, cheerful, and youthful character to enjoy, you can’t go wrong with this. Its performance is normal—not too weak, not too powerful; let’s say it stays there, present without being loud. A versatile fragrance for any weather, time, or situation; it’s always a pleasure to wear. Given its price and aroma, it’s a safe purchase. Scent: 10. Projection: moderate for 2 hours. Longevity: max 6 hours. Recommended.

  • I love this perfume; I think it’s one of the perfect ones. Everything works, and it has a very particular aroma, nothing typical. That marine note and the mandarin make a perfect match. Good quality and longevity, and it suits any occasion.

  • A very well-crafted fragrance; it smells like a summer day at the pool, ideal for hot days. It has an addictive marine touch; it’s rare to find someone who doesn’t like this scent.

  • A beautiful discontinued fragrance… If you can get it, it’s super expensive in Uruguay… I spent years looking for it… Fresh aroma, slightly soft yet sharp… The dry down is wonderful… You can detect neroli with citrus and marine notes with algae… It lasts well, moderate sillage, but it’s one of those perfumes that throws out bursts and you really enjoy it… Safe for compliments… I’d wear it any time except in cold weather… I don’t know what people mean about the egg smell; for me, it’s very subjective depending on skin and olfaction… For me, it’s exquisite… Pure sea… You can wear it on any occasion and in any place…

  • GuillermoGM

Aqva Pour Homme Marine smells like the sea, but it’s unpleasant and far from the freshness you expect. It’s too strong and penetrating, with that marine vibe that feels like the worst kind—like decomposition. Without a doubt, it would be one of the worst options when buying a perfume.

  • If it’s not the best marine fragrance, eat it up, you loser. Citrus opening that doesn’t explode with green notes. Always fresh; the first spray feels like the temperature drops around you. As it dries, the marine notes shine through, ending with a sweet amber close to the skin. Simply beautiful, perfect…

  • I’m obsessed; it’s my current signature. Fresh, youthful, marine, and masculine, but with an attractive vibe—like a guy who hits the gym and takes care of himself. I love it. I owned a bottle from 2011, and now I have one from 2018; this one absolutely fascinates me. It no longer smells like rotten eggs like the older versions. I wear it in spring, summer, and mild autumn days. It’s a daytime scent. It’s a compliment bomb at work; I’m constantly surrounded by people. Decent longevity, brutal projection for the first 30 minutes, then it fades, but it lasts days on clothes. Sometimes I spray a sweater and it still smells good a couple of days later. 11/10. I haven’t found anything that hits me this hard in a long time. It feels like it’s being overlooked nowadays; you have to try it. Bonus: I love the bottle design.

  • My brother used to wear this, and girls couldn’t stop hitting on him. Sometimes I’d wear it, and everyone at school would ask who smelled so good. It’s super masculine, but I adore it for how fresh it is and how long it lasts. It smells like a young, impeccable, active guy in white clothes. Don’t hesitate, buy it.
