Alien Eau Sublime by Mugler

It’s the freshest version of Alien, though it remains a recognizable flanker. At first, it smells of narcotic white flowers on the verge of decomposition, with indole, but it’s less invasive and carries a touch of creamy lemon. I don’t detect any specific white flower, but rather a blend of jasmine and orange blossom. The drydown is very similar to the original (cashmere and amber to musk), but with an extra touch of vanilla and lemon that gives it a gourmand vibe. The projection is good, though not as invasive as the EdP; the longevity, however, is just as potent. I’d place it between Alien EdT and Extraordinaire. I already own the latter, but Sublime appealed to me more for being creamier. It’s a very feminine and youthful perfume, with a flirtatious twist, suitable for any occasion and mild weather, though perhaps too dense for the hottest summers. This Alien is a chill guy, less intense than the original and super friendly; you can wear it without thinking about how exotic it can be. It’s a bath of radioactive light, luminous and floral with a citrus touch at the beginning. It’s not tropical, it’s radioactive. It doesn’t invade, but it captivates. On my skin, the white flowers linger with vanilla and amber; honestly, it smells like amber and heat. Moderate longevity and a medium-low sillage. I would buy it again: an alien with whom to maintain friendly contact without fear of abduction.

Eau Sublime reminds me a lot of the Alien EDT, though with new floral notes that set it slightly apart from the original. It opens very citrusy with lemon and tangerine, which mixes well with the white flowers and classic jasmine. It’s the fresh and juicy version of Alien; it balances the acidity of the fruits with the sweetness of the flowers very well, it’s rich, and being citrusy, it has good performance. Sometimes I spray the EDP and then more Eau Sublime; they complement each other perfectly: the latter is lighter for certain moments, especially in summer. It’s a citrus Alien, with familiar DNA, good fixation, and worth it for those days when you need freshness and energy.

Honestly, I expected more. Seeing the notes and knowing Dominique Ropion created it, I didn’t hesitate and bought it blind. I’m not regretting it, but if I had tested it first, I’m sure it wouldn’t be in my collection. It doesn’t resemble the original Alien at all. It has low persistence and sillage. It definitely smells like summer. I’ll keep testing it, but so far, we haven’t fallen in love. EDIT 08/26/22: After years of abandoning it, I decided to give it another chance. I don’t know if my nose is more educated or my skin changed, but now it captivates me a lot. It has good longevity, and after hours, you can feel the DNA of the original Alien, but softened with a slight citrus touch that makes it ideal for summer.

It’s very similar to the first Alien (that powerful one), but with citrus notes and a jasmine that takes more prominence against the traditional amber. It’s the flanker I’ve liked the most, versatile for day and night, I love it. Now that I received it as a birthday gift, I can enjoy it, and it has great value to me; I received it from the hands of the boy I loved. Alien Eau Sublime, our love story will be infinite, little sparkler.

I’m using it. Being a Mugler, it smells different and isn’t their typical vibe. At first, it gave me a slightly salty, figgy scent, similar to Womanity, but then the citrus notes came out, followed quickly by heliotrope. I love those solar notes that give the brand’s perfumes such an interesting twist. It dries down floral with jasmine and vanilla. Overall, it’s soft with moderate sillage, feminine, and I think most people will like it, though not as much as Angel or Alien.
