Descripción

Alchimie by Rochas is an oriental floral fragrance for women. Launched in 1998, this composition was created by perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. The top notes reveal a lush fruity and floral opening with peach, plum, lilac, pear, black currant, cassia, hyacinth, mandarin, grapefruit, bergamot, and cucumber. The heart is built around black acacia, wisteria, coconut, heliotrope, jasmine, rose, and valley lily. The base closes the olfactory pyramid with a warm, woody accord of caramel, vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood, amber, licorice, and musk.

  • It smelled amazing, right? The same thing happens to me with Alchimie and Absolu, both by Rochas, and I think that’s the problem: Rochas perfumes don’t sell much, so they pull them. I don’t get it because some are unforgettable.

  • The bottle design is a true work of art; in a fairy tale, it would be our friend Cinderella carrying it to the ball (hence the pumpkin). And any prince would go crazy over this essence. I used this exquisite, distinctly feminine perfume about twenty years ago. I can’t understand how they could have pulled it from the market.

  • The opening is exceptionally luminous and sparkling; then it turns into vanilla and caramel. I want a perfume that always smells like the opening of Alchimie 🙂 Edited: 4 out of 5.

  • Sometimes wishes come true, sometimes miracles happen. Today what I wished for in my first review has come true; I’ve found Alchimie again, exact and perfect, and with a much better bottle, at Le Parfum de Lalique. I’m so happy.

  • I love this perfume, but I can’t find it anymore. I still have half a bottle that I take such good care of.

It was my favorite perfume, but they discontinued it!!!!!! Why do they do that?? I can’t find it in perfumeries anymore, and the worst part is that on Amazon and eBay a 100ml bottle costs $350!!!!!!!….. This perfume was so lovely, so strong, so sophisticated, leaving a beautiful trail full of compliments.

  • Why do they pull the good perfumes and leave the generic ones that sell the most????? What I remember most about this is the coconut and jasmine note… a sweet, floral sunscreen scent… marvelous.

  • Once they brought me a sample when it was just launching in a magazine my mom bought. We both fell in love with it. Delicious, delicate, intense, sexy, a work of art. I was eight years old, and my mom never bought it for me. Now that I can afford it, it’s been discontinued. What a pity, because it was an excellent fragrance.

It happened to me just like it did for Nadiac; I’m sure it was the same magazine. My mom used to get a fashion magazine, and on a dark page, there was this little paper bottle that peeled off and released the liquid perfume. I was blown away, as if I’d been transported to another dimension; from that moment on, I understood the value of a fragrance. I don’t have it or own one, but if I find it, it’s mine… I never forgot its name, even though almost 20 years have passed.

  • Incredible! There are no chemical notes, nothing unpleasant to enjoy this composition. I perceive citrus and peach notes that give this sparkling sensation. Vanilla and caramel form the base, but the top notes don’t disappear, and the mix of different facets creates the magical feeling.

  • Once I read that there isn’t a great perfume without vanilla, and this is one of them, of course carrying it. I got my first kiss while wearing it one Halloween night, so for that and its name, it had something magical for me.

I still have a full bottle and don’t want to wear it anymore because it’s hard to find, and if I finish it, I don’t know how to get another. I bought it in 2000, and it’s still in my vanity. It’s overwhelmingly exquisite, enveloping, enchanting, and magical; a sensual elixir that transports, as its name says, to a bewitching and charming potion. I adore and venerate it. Here in Mexico, there’s a brand that makes imitations, FRAICHE. I know they’ll tell me I shouldn’t compare, but believe me, they make them very similar to the originals, and in that line, they had Alchimie that smelled identical, but they discontinued it. For those who love something sweet, powdery, seductive, and elegant without being annoying and very delicious, this would be a wonderful option.

Alchimie is a giant beauty, almost gourmand-powdery and merciful. In 1998, Rochas released one of the greatest works in perfumery, now extinct and a huge shame. Rochas’ greatness won’t be recovered without reissuing this gem; today it would be a sweet, classic beast that would sweep away thousands. It opens with an incredibly rich, juicy fruity citrus note, with body but always light. It’s a beauty like ‘dragon scales’: not heavy but powerfully fierce. There’s perfect alchemy between peach, caramel, heliotrope, and glycine, creating a sweet, bright, and satinous dry down. The synthesis is pure magic. I imagine a Biagiotti Venezia with wings due to its powdery touch, a calibrated sweetness that doesn’t overdo it. The blend of fruits and flowers is brutal, without being over-amplified, the perfumery perfection where Cavallier left his mark. It’s the alchemy of love for things well-made, to be enjoyed with passion. It has the shine of a magical Christmas winter from the millennium; everything is possible.

Alchimie is a beauty of gigantic proportions, a mercifully gourmand-powdery masterpiece. In 1998, Rochas released one of the best works in perfumery, if not in the industry; today extinct, it’s one of the biggest regrets for this house. You can’t restore Rochas’ greatness unless they reissue this jewel; today, it could be a sweet yet classy beast that effortlessly outshines thousands of new releases. It opens with an incredibly rich, nuanced juicy citrus fruitiness, showing substance the moment it appears but always remaining light. This piece is one of those beauties I’d call “dragon scales”: not heavy, but potently fierce. There is indeed alchemy: the perfect blend of peach, caramel, heliotrope, and glicine making the heart sweet but bright and supremely satin. The synthesis of what it feels like is magic. I imagine a Biagiotti Venezia with wings due to its powdery touch, a very calibrated sweetness that isn’t cloying. With the brutal amalgamation of fruits and flowers without boosters, it’s perfumery perfection, and Cavallier left his mark. It’s the alchemy of love for well-made things to be enjoyed with passion. It has the absolute shine of a magical winter and Christmas at the turn of the millennium; everything is possible, and everything is to be seen.

  • After reading the previous reviews, I decided to hunt for this jewel, and that’s where the spell began, because I got lucky: two days later, I traded a 50ml DKNY Be Delicious plus a difference in dollars for a partially used 70ml bottle of the 1998 version of this magic. I have nothing to add to the previous reviews except that it’s impossible to know what to expect from the description because the notes manifest differently than what we know today. The peach is one thing, the vanilla another, and the powdery notes are also distinct. It’s very special, and it saddens me that I found my signature scent only to have it discontinued. I feel that if it were still on the market, it would be on par with Mugler’s Alien: a trend with a twist, perhaps woody, or simply well-made. I won’t dare call it vintage: after 22 years, it hasn’t aged a day. Given the contrast between its sparkling opening and elegant dry-down, I imagine I can wear it by day and stay in tune at night. Its longevity isn’t beastly but is that of a good perfume. It’s spring in Argentina, and I feel it’s ideal. I think I’ll still use it in summer out of pure fandom, though I’d recommend it for cooler climates. Only for special occasions, nothing extravagant; maybe the ones we have won’t be restocked. The sillage is heavy and can be intrusive, but very pleasant. This perfume is my treasure and raised my standards. I went back to trying the others and will probably get rid of some. Now I’m an Alchimie girl.

  • I searched for this gem after reading reviews, and the spell was immediate: lucky me, I traded a used DKNY for 70ml of the 1998 version. Don’t trust the described notes because they smell different from how we know them today; the peach, vanilla, and powdery aspects are distinct. It’s special, and it hurts that it’s discontinued; if it were around now, it would rival Mugler’s Alien. It’s not vintage, as after 22 years, it hasn’t aged a day. Its evolution from a sparkling opening to an elegant finish makes it ideal for day and night. The longevity isn’t beastly but gets the job done. In Argentina, it’s spring, and I feel it’s perfect, though I’ll wear it in summer out of fanaticism; recommended for cooler climates. Only for special occasions, not for splurging, because it might never come back. The sillage is heavy but pleasant. Now it’s my treasure and raised my standards; I went back to smelling my perfumes and might get rid of some. Now I’m an Alchimie girl.

  • Alchimie is my youth, my freedom, my dreams, my happy days, all life ahead… everything that comes to mind when I recall it. As a perfume, it’s unmatched. I’ve never smelled anything so magical, fascinating, sensual, feminine, cozy, and warm. Another great Rochas perfume that they were kind enough to discontinue. I don’t buy anything from Rochas anymore. They’ve disappointed me too much as a company.

  • Alchimie is my youth, my freedom, my illusions, and my happy days, all life ahead. As a perfume, it’s unmatched. I’ve never smelled anything so magical, fascinating, sensual, feminine, cozy, and warm. Another great Rochas perfume that had the misfortune of being discontinued. I no longer buy anything from Rochas; they’ve disappointed me too much as a company.

  • It wasn’t just a beautiful fragrance; it had excellent sillage and longevity. Great value for money. I’ve been looking for something like this for years since it was discontinued. It caught me off guard; had I known, I would have bought a stock.

  • Perfect alchemy, perfect name. I sense a fruity, tart note of peach and plums wrapped in powdery heliotrope, with a hint of cucumber and violet that gives it personality and transports me to flashes of YSL’s Paris, even if they are just subtle nuances. A beautiful vanilla base, caramelized by tonka beans. Such a shame about its discontinuation. Beautiful bottle, too.
