It’s just citrus and nothing else. Fresh and smells okay, but it doesn’t mean anything to me. The bottle is gorgeous, but it’s not worth it; the scent is vulgar. It’s not bad for summer, but if you’re going to smell only like lemons, there are much better perfumes to invest in.
I got a chance to try it the other day, and it didn’t say much to me. It’s a fresh, citrusy, very typical and common scent. I don’t think it’s worth investing in. For me, it was neither a win nor a loss.
I just smelled it in the perfumery on blotter paper, and it seems way too citrusy. I usually like some citrus scents, but this one felt exaggerated and overwhelming.
I have to say, it’s very summery, fresh, and super citrusy, with a touch of that Nenuco kind of childish essence. I like it a lot, but only because I’m into this type of fragrance; if you don’t love citrus, forget it.
In the end, it smelled like fish to me, as if I’d eaten a skewer of sardines and only half-wiped my hands with a lemon wipe. I couldn’t believe it; I’ve tried it several times and it always happens. They say it has coral in it—I don’t know if that’s true—but for anyone not from the beach, it might remind them of vacation. For me, it just made me feel like I hadn’t washed properly, which was nerve-wracking.
In the end, it smelled like fish to me, like I’d just eaten a skewer of sardines, wiped my hands with a lemon cloth, and waited hours. I couldn’t believe it and tried it several times, but the result was always the same. Later, they told me it had coral in it; I’m not sure if that’s true. For someone who isn’t a beach person, it might remind them of vacation, but for me, it made me feel like I hadn’t washed my hands properly.
It’s the best bathwater I’ve ever tried. And I say bathwater because I don’t see its use extending beyond stepping out of the shower to boost freshness and that clean feeling. It’s like an adult version of a bath bomb. Compared to the rest of Loewe’s waters, all labeled unisex, this is the one that leans most feminine. The opening is an incredibly refreshing citrus combo, not intrusive at all, giving way to a bouquet of white flowers and finally settling into a soft woody base where you can barely detect the cedar. Longevity and sillage are light. If you like wearing it after a night shower to go to bed, you’ll feel like Cinderella: just enough time to put on your pajamas and relax, and then Mar de Coral will be the memory of the shower. A good option for a hot night. So, I think the price isn’t justified by its performance and limited use. Do I like it? Yes. Would I buy it? Clearly not.
It’s the highest-quality bath water I’ve tried. And I say bath water because I don’t see its use extending beyond stepping out of the shower to reinforce freshness and the feeling of cleanliness. It’s like an ‘adult Denenes’ (for those unfamiliar, a fragrance for very young children). Compared to the rest of Loewe waters, all rated (with good taste) as unisex, this is the one that comes closest to the feminine side. Regarding its evolution, the opening is a tremendously refreshing citrus combo but nothing intrusive, giving way to a bouquet of white flowers and finally resting on a soft woody base, where cedar is perceived close to the skin and fades in and out. Its longevity and sillage are light. If you like wearing it after a night shower before going to bed, you’ll feel like Cinderella. You have just enough time to put on your pajamas, relax for a bit, and go to sleep, by which time Mar de Coral will be the memory of the shower. (A good option for a hot night.) Therefore, I believe its price is not justified by its performance and limited use. Do I like it? Yes. Would I buy it? Clearly not.
A very fresh scent; citrus and mint dominate. It smells identical to Tartine et Chocolat (the blue bottle) cologne, just more intense.
LOEWE MAR DE CORAL: as pleasant as it is insignificant. I don’t quite understand why a house with Loewe’s prestige launched this cologne. I imagine they want to reach a market with lower purchasing power but that would be thrilled to wear a Loewe fragrance. Because in Spain, LOEWE MAR DE CORAL is cheaper than any other Loewe fragrance, which is already an expensive brand and, lately, has been living off its former glory. It’s the same with Saint Laurent, Guy Laroche, Azzaro, and some other designers. It’s a case very similar to JEAN PAUL GAULTIER’S MONSIEUR EAU DU MATIN, which I never understood why it fits within the Jean Paul Gaultier family. They are bath waters, a bit more intense than Nenuco or Denenes, but quite a bit more expensive than those, which can be bought in one-liter bottles and used abundantly as a splash. Citrusy, fresh, clean, and nothing more. As colognes, they’re fine; as perfumes or fragrances, or in short, as something serious enough to warrant a proper review, the truth is they don’t make it easy. If we started reviewing all supermarket bath waters, the Fragrantica database would be, not a BIG DATA, but an UNLIMITED DATA. The scent of MAR DE CORAL gathers the typical clichés that terrify me (fresh, soft, beachy, clean, my little sister used to wear it, etc.). Sillage and longevity are low. It can be worn at any time by anyone, regardless of birthplace, race, gender, religion, opinion, or any other personal or social condition. Over-application is mandatory.
This Loewe is a total miss for me, especially considering the price. It doesn’t smell feminine at all, and I wouldn’t wear it again. I even gave the decant to my boyfriend to see if he liked it better… On my skin, it just smells like sour citrus. While those who love lemon colognes might adore it, it’s one of the few fragrances I’ve ever worn and immediately wanted to take off. I simply don’t enjoy many citrus scents. Projection is good at first, lasting 3-4 hours. Scent: 2/10, Longevity: 5/10, Sillage: 5/10, Value: 3/10, Versatility: 2/10, Packaging: 7/10. I won’t be buying it again.
This Loewe fragrance didn’t like me at all, especially considering its price range. It doesn’t smell feminine on me at all; it’s a scent I wouldn’t wear on any occasion. I’ll pass the decant to my boyfriend to see if it works better on him… On my skin, it only smells of sour citrus, and while lovers of lemon-based eau de colognes might adore it, it’s one of the few scents I’ve sprayed and wished I could take off. Keep in mind there are few citrus-dominant fragrances that I actually enjoy. Regarding longevity, I’d say about 3-4 hours, projecting well in the first hour. Scent 2/10 Longevity 5/10 Sillage 5/10 Value 3/10 Versatility 2/10 Packaging 7/10 Would I buy again? No.
It’s not bad, it just won’t make history, though it never intended to. It’s a blend of sea breeze and the classic Nenuco cologne. It’s a great option for summer, regardless of age or gender. More neutral is impossible; it feels neither masculine nor feminine, Loewe nailed it in that sense. If you were born by the coast and no longer live near the beach, you’ll love remembering that scent, which is very well done. Longevity and projection are typical of these summer citrus-aquatic fragrances; don’t ask for too much. The price is steep for its performance, which perhaps dims it a bit. I wouldn’t mind having it in my collection, but not at that price—it could be from Loewe or Creed.
It’s not bad, but it won’t go down in history, though it never aimed to. It’s a mix between sea breeze and the classic Nenuco cologne. A great option for summer, regardless of age or gender. As neutral as it gets—you can’t feel it’s masculine or feminine; Loewe nailed that. If you were born by the coast but no longer live near the beach, you’ll love remembering that scent, which is done really well. Longevity and projection are typical for this kind of citrus-aquatic summer fragrance; don’t ask for too much. The price is high for what it delivers, and that’s what dims it a bit; I wouldn’t mind having it in my collection, but not at that price. It could be Loewe or Creed.
As a lover of fresh colognes with mint, orange, lemon, petit grain, neroli, musk, etc., I’ve adored this scent. It’s fresh, tasty, pretty, and feels like a timeless classic cologne. However, given the wonders Alvarez Gomez creates, like their Eau Fraîche/Green Label cologne, Nenuco, Ibiza Herbs, or 4711… I think it’s not worth it since it has a high price but offers no greater intensity or durability. Mar de Coral and Air Fantasy are representations of classic colognes that always work, but not at any price.
As a lover of fresh colognes with mint, orange, lemon, petit grain, neroli, and musk, I absolutely loved this scent. It’s fresh, rich, beautiful, and feels like a classic, timeless cologne. However, given the wonders Álvarez Gómez creates—like their Eau Fraîche or Nenuco, Hierbas de Ibiza, 4711, etc.—I don’t think it’s worth it since it has a high price but offers no greater intensity or longevity. Mar de Coral and Aire Fantasía are representations of classic colognes that always work, but not at any price.
I loved it in 2016, but its longevity was non-existent; here in Mexico, it didn’t last long on the market, and when I looked for it, it disappeared. Now that I found it again, I atomized it, and it doesn’t smell as beautiful anymore, but… it’s still so tasty. Except its fixative is terrible—it lasts less than 10 minutes on skin and evaporates. It’s one of my favorites, but with that fixative and this price, I can’t help but think twice.
I feel, like a sigh in parentheses, the tomato note I’ve been longing for (it was in my beloved ‘Les belles’ by Nina Ricci from the 90s, wonderful). But it’s just a whisper. In the background, synthetic musk: fine, it doesn’t bother me. I sniff and the tomato is already gone. On others, it smells good and lasts; on me, neither does. And that’s the worst part: paying Loewe prices for something so weak, like hand soap after washing. Reviews mention several bath waters it could resemble. To me, it’s identical to the Mustela alcohol-free baby cologne.
It reminds me of the classic Suavinex baby cologne from the pharmacies. Although the Loewe one lasts longer and still lingers the next day, it’s like baby cologne for adults, which is why I get so many compliments. The tomato note makes it unisex, similar to how they make colognes for kids. On my skin, I detect it and it adds a very original touch.
It doesn’t lift a hair. It starts with that fresh Loewe aquatic touch—white floral citrus—but the aromatic notes quickly take over, dominated by mint and other sharp elements that ruin the experience. Way too expensive for what it offers. Not recommended.
Three phrases from reviewers perfectly summarize this Loewe Mar de Coral Eau: @Thilien: ‘Smell citrus and that’s it.’ @AranxA87: ‘It’s a fresh, citrusy, very typical scent…’ @Josesan: ‘As pleasant as it is insignificant.’ And yes, you could name half a dozen cheaper colognes that effortlessly compete with this Loewe fragrance. I totally agree with those who say it’s great as a post-shower splash or to cool down on a hot day. It felt so generic that I was shocked by the price, especially since it’s a serious proposal from Loewe. It’s an absolutely versatile summer scent that anyone can wear for anything, though I see it as too short for formal adult events. In short, it smells good but will hardly leave a memorable impression.
Attention! It’s an EAU. It fades instantly. Not my style, but I get it, the citrus fans might love it. The standout notes are sharp lemon and mint. If you’re head-over-heels for this scent and don’t mind spending well, but if your wallet hurts, it’s not worth it because it fades fast; at best, it lasts 3 hours with minimal sillage.
Warning! This is a cologne, so it fades quickly. It’s not my style, but I get why citrus lovers enjoy it. The standout notes are sour lemon and mint. If you’re obsessed with the scent and don’t mind spending well, go for it. But if you’re on a budget, it’s not worth it since it disappears in about 3 hours with minimal trail.
Re-editing. It’s a good EDT, a delicious aroma, but I think the price is overvalued. It’s fresh, citrusy, and has a floral vibe à la Loewe that simply works. The longevity is brief and the sillage is light. It barely stays on the skin for three or four hours. I like using it for sports or on those scorching summer days after being in the sun. It’s a clean scent and nothing intrusive. It’s like a bouquet of citrus with a floral laundry softener base. Perfect for a beach day or a hike. It’s a high-end bath cologne where you’re paying for the Loewe name.
Confirming what Marietta said. The classic Suavinex baby cologne is very similar to Mar de Coral, and it’s a quality brand. You can combine the two if you like that clean, tender scent that isn’t too citrusy, something more floral than normal bath sprays.
I was with a girl who wore this. I made the mistake of telling her I liked it. From then on, I think she drenched herself in it every time she saw me, and I ended up getting sick of it. You guys say the sillage is scarce, but for me, it wasn’t. It smells like a hospital, a dentist office, clean yes, but not attractively clean.
Citrusy and refreshing, but very intrusive. I wore this cologne and ended up tired of that sharp, acidic scent. Unlike other reviews, I felt the longevity was actually high, though there are more durable options. I preferred it when the scent was already fading.
Pleasant fragrance with an extremely citrusy opening; I can literally feel the mandarins on my face. But then… nothing. It’s fresh, like a baby cologne or those summer sprays you buy and forget about. I get it, it’s an eau, but on my skin, the longevity is non-existent. What a shame.
Very rich, but it’s 90% Nenuco 😅🤷🏼♂️
Johnson’s Baby cologne smells almost identical, but this one lasts longer and is way cheaper.
One day while scrolling, I spotted a killer deal and grabbed it instantly since I’m obsessed with neroli and citrus. It smells like CK One but way more than Agua de Ella. Lasts about 4 hours if I apply it like it’s my last day. Perfect for saying goodbye to summer here where the humidity is intense.
