Descripción

Salvatore Ferragamo Acqua Essenziale Colonia is an aromatic fougère fragrance for men. Launched in 2015, this composition was created by perfumer Alberto Morillas. Upon release, bergamot and aquatic notes deliver a fresh first impression; the heart reveals statice, orange blossom, and lavender; while the base settles with ambroxan, vetiver, and tonka bean.

  • It’s a clean, fresh, and soapy scent with a citrus touch. At first, bergamot and aquatic notes stand out, but they don’t last long and give way to lavender and statice; the vetiver feels a bit timid. When the bergamot seems to fade, it returns and mixes again with the lavender. Here you can notice the ambroxan, that component that mimics ambergris and was already in previous versions of Acqua Essenziale. The Blu version seemed more aquatic to me, while this Colonia has a more Mediterranean and Italian touch, which reminded me of Acqua di Parma Essenza, although the Ferragamo one is less floral and spicy. It could be an affordable alternative to AdP Colonia. I like its style; it’s versatile for daytime use, but not for night. It’s excellent for the office: it’s not invasive and has a pleasant, modern aroma. It projects like most, medium to low, but at least the skin fixation holds up better. I recommend it from young people to adults; at least give it a try.

  • Beto_Ruiz is spot on describing it: it smells clean, fresh, and soapy, but it doesn’t define itself as citrus or floral. Nothing like Acqua di Parma; neither the opening, the rose, nor the rosemary. While it does give a soapy sensation when it dries, it’s very different from AdP Colonia. Maybe it gets closer to aquatic notes, but it doesn’t quite achieve it, like other options on the market. And watch out, I don’t smell even a hint of vetiver here. Longevity and sillage are very poor, very weak.

  • Beto_Ruiz describes it very well. Typical clean, fresh, soapy scent. Indefinite. It doesn’t smell like citrus or flowers or anything specific; it smells like soap or something similar. But it has nothing in common with Acqua di Parma. It lacks the citrus opening of this, plus no rose or rosemary. Nothing in common, except that in the dry down, the AdP cologne gives a certain soapy sensation, but very different from this creation by A. Morillas. Maybe this gets closer to the aquatic family, though it doesn’t fully reach that definition either. By the way, I don’t smell even the slightest hint of vetiver here. Longevity and sillage are very poor, very weak.

To be honest, I didn’t like it much. It didn’t last long; I prefer Dior Homme Cologne or Allure Sport Cologne. Greetings from Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico.

  • Juanpasiones

How curious! I, Juan Matapasiones Perfumísticas (capable of neutralizing any perfume in less than 4 hours), this ‘perfumed’ water projects wildly on me for about 3 hours, unless the tester bottle is a special concentrated edition designed to hook buyers, eh. I sprayed it three times on my forearm and smelled like orange blossom flowers for a long time. Mmm, what interesting. I’m going to try it again. It has a good price on Amazon.com.

  • I absolutely love this Acqua Essenziale Colonia. As they say, it smells clean and soapy, very Mediterranean. I use it all year round, though its prime time is spring-summer. To me, it’s very elegant. PS: My wife doesn’t like it at all; she says it smells like sweat. Major letdown.

  • I liked it. The citrus scent reminds me of Acqua di Parma’s ADN, very pleasant. It has a soapy undertone with a touch of orange blossom. It’s quite linear, but it smells very intense in the first few hours and lasts well. Recommended.

  • Drakecito, the latest releases excited me less than the first one, but hey, it’s not terrible.

  • drakecito

I’m tempted to try it again, especially because of @uhm’s description. I had a bottle and barely smelled anything, neither citrus nor bergamot. It usually happens to me with aquatic fragrances like the last Intense Light Blue or the current Acqua di Gio, which were disasters on my skin. It’s available at a good price and the bottle looks great. I might give it another shot.

  • Chrystiane

As the name suggests, it’s a fresh cologne water, very similar to Ermenegildo Zegna’s Aqua di Bergamoto.

  • A cologne with a tremendous similarity to Acqua di Parma Intensa, no wonder since Morillas created both. A steal if you consider the price of the Intensa versus this accessible proposal. But regarding price and performance, this Ferragamo has performed wonderfully being so cheap. If you want a good perfume on a budget, you have everything in this Acqua Essenziale: good, beautiful, and cheap. There’s a set with shower gel that sells like hotcakes at an Agua Brava price.

  • Another great creation by Morillas that never fails on performance. I liked the scent and the feeling. Totally clean and neutral, suitable for any moment except autumn/winter nights. It doesn’t smell outdated or like an old man. It’s like an Italian-made Sauvage by a Spaniard. You can clearly detect the eucalyptus and lavender. It smells great but projects and lasts nothing; in summer it’s just another cologne and not an EDT as it should be. Valid for men from 20 to 100 years old (if you’re 101, don’t use it). A good alternative to Acqua Di Parma Colonia if you have a limited budget but want versatility and modernity.

  • A delicious fragrance I haven’t smelled like before. I’m captivated by its clean, citrus opening that softens into fresh soap, a wonderful sensation of energy. Highly recommended and versatile; although it won’t shine on a winter night, if you apply it after a shower, it doesn’t matter what season it is. – Scent 9 (soft, refreshing, delicious citrus with soap) – Longevity 6 (holds up well for 2 hours, up to 6 hours close to the skin) – Sillage 5 (not its strong suit except for the first 30 minutes) – Value 9 (around €20).

  • In this Ferragamo, we have a clean, fresh, timeless, and highly versatile cologne. It works equally well with jeans, a suit, sportswear, or a swimsuit at the beach. It’s quite similar to a pricier perfume like the classic Acqua di Parma.

  • A citrus masterpiece with excellent longevity and enviable sillage in the heat. Perfect for white outfits or fresh looks, strictly summery and springy (days and nights), it could be your signature scent all year round. It distills elegance and versatility. Classic citrus and soapy sensations, a gem that makes you smile. Lasts over 12 hours on skin and clothes until washed. Medium-to-high sillage projecting for 4 hours in bursts, then leaving a gentle freshness halo for another 8 hours. Cleanliness and serenity, an Eau de Toilette in every sense. Bravo Morillas!

  • A citrus marvel with excellent longevity and an enviable sillage in the heat. It’s a fragrance to wear in white or fresh, strictly summery and springy (nights and days), although it can present itself as a signature to use all year round. It distills elegance and versatility on all sides. It has extremely citrusy and soapy sensations in the best classic style, a jewel in every sense, one of those that when you smell them makes you smile. Longevity of more than 12 hours on skin, on clothes until you wash them. Medium/high sillage projecting continuously for 4 hours in bursts; from the fifth hour it remains as a pleasant, transparent freshness halo that will stay for 8 hours airing and dressing whoever wears it. Cleanliness and serenity is what this idea exudes regarding what comes from classic colognes, a true Eau de Toilette with ALL THE LETTERS. Bravo Morillas!

The best of the Acqua Essenziale trio. As a collector, I’ve had all three fragrances from the AE collection, and I must say that Colonia beats the other two. If you want one, I fully recommend it, because the original AE lasts a breath and the Blu feels more like a blue fragrance, and I prefer blues like Sauvage or Y EDP much more than the Salvatore Ferragamo one. Acqua Essenziale Colonia smells like the classic cologne accord, but they do it in a modern way, becoming extremely versatile: you can wear it from casual to semi-formal. Its best use is in warm weather, but if you want to use it for the office or indoor places in cold weather, it’s phenomenal. It practically smells like a quite noticeable juicy citrus part, sitting on a soapy, clean aquatic base. It smells like what any classy man would want to smell like, the kind whose presence is always noticed when they arrive and everyone turns to look. It has brought me more compliments than I expected, and there’s a bias in women’s brains from years ago where the cologne smell represented total masculinity, so when they smell this, it seems quite pleasant and familiar to them, to the point of telling you how much they like it. Scent: 8/10. Longevity: 7/10 (lasts well 5-6 hours, and if you apply it on clothes, it smells much more). Sillage: 8/10 (you feel it a lot in the first 2-3 hours where the perfume flies, it doesn’t stick like other colognes). Occasion: warm weather from informal to semi-formal, wouldn’t look bad with a suit but there are better options. God’s plan.

  • BwFraganlover

The best of the Trident Acqua Essenziale line. As a collector who has tried all three fragrances in the AE collection, this one beats the other two, especially the original Cologne which lasts a breath, and the Blue, which I prefer less than blues like Sauvage or Ferragamo’s EDP. The Cologne smells modern, versatile from casual to semi-formal, ideal for heat but also great in cold interiors. It’s citrusy and juicy with a soapy, clean aquatic base—the scent of a classy man who turns heads. It’s brought more compliments than I expected, since the cologne scent still associates with classic masculinity. Scent: 8/10, Longevity: 7/10 (5-6 hours, longer on clothes), Sillage: 8/10 (projects a lot in the first hours). Occasion: warm weather, informal to semi-formal; not bad with a suit but there are better options. God’s plan 🦉

  • Carlos062773

Very pleasant and fresh scent, perfect for hot days, daytime wear, and casual or semi-formal outfits. It smells very similar to Benetton COLD, which is a great budget option. Highly recommended.

  • poblete.erik@gmail.com

Super versatile fragrance: I wear it to work, after swimming, and occasionally at night for semi-formal events. It delivers the longevity and sillage you’d expect, plus it usually gets compliments. Ideal for men over 30.

This is an absolute delight and truly deserves the talk it gets about Acqua di Parma. It has everything: versatile, elegant, great longevity and sillage, and everyone loves it. It’s a compliment machine. Italian bottled at a good price. Seeing that it’s becoming less accessible and prices are rising, I grabbed two more. I don’t usually keep many backups in my collection, but this is the only one where I have the daily wear bottle plus two extras (you can tell I really love it).

  • Bartholomew

It’s an absolute delight and you can talk about the Acqua di Parma line. It has everything: versatile, elegant, long-lasting, has a trail, everyone likes it, and it’s a compliment machine. Italian luxury in a bottle at a good price. Since it’s becoming less accessible and prices are rising, I grabbed two more. I usually don’t have many backups in my collection, but this is the only one I use with two extras; it’s clear I love it.

  • It’s a cologne with style and elegance that embodies Italian joy and warmth. Transparent and luminous notes that give energy and cleanliness, fresh and comfortable like a white shirt. It has many emotions and tells a new story. Acqua Essenziale Colonia is light but persistent, with an unusual combination: it starts with a sharp, sour freshness that turns into soapy sweetness hours later. It seems like the top masculine note is grafted onto a feminine base. It’s not a classic cologne, but a modern, sweet, synthetic one with more than enough performance. Ideal for spring-summer or to remember the sun in winter.

  • Carlos Cardozo

The opening smells like an old-school cologne, but as it dries, it smells like sweat. I didn’t like it.

  • I’ve had it for a couple of years and didn’t use it much until I smelled it again and was convinced. I noticed the price has gone up; I hope they haven’t discontinued it yet.

  • It’s a modernized Italian cologne. Masculine, with a rough citrus opening that gives it character, perhaps with vetiver blending with the citrus. Clean and Mediterranean aroma that becomes soapy as it dries. It’s not for those seeking something innocent and family-friendly; it has enough body to be worn outside of summer and during the day. The composition and packaging are top-notch: thick glass, heavy cap, Italian design. Lasts 6-7 hours with excellent projection and trail. Versatile: from the beach to a night date.

  • I tested it at 33 degrees Celsius and, although I went overboard with 10 sprays out of habit, the projection is wonderful, subtle, and superb. It wraps me in a bubble of orange blossom with a citrus touch, sweetened with ambroxan. Nine hours have passed, I’ve sweated, and it still smells through my shirt. It’s a marvel that elevates the classic cologne scent to another level, with much better longevity.

  • Today I wore this fragrance at 33 degrees. I applied more than 10 sprays (out of habit, not for the occasion) and the projection is marvelous, subtle, and superb. It wraps you in a bubble of bergamot decorated with a citrus sparkle and sweetened with ambroxan. About 9 hours have passed, and even though I’ve sweated, its effluvia still shimmer through my shirt. It’s a true wonder that takes the classic scent of a cologne and elevates it to a higher, longer-lasting status.

  • Wilson Manolito

A very potent fougère. Aquatic and floral sensation, lasts forever, and is ideal for hot weather. It feels very mature, almost like a classic that’s becoming harder to find, but it stands out by being different from those summer colognes everyone uses.

  • It’s a total bomb. Since I’m back in the 90s and 00s era hunting for those fresh, clean scents, this one caught me off guard. I was looking for that modern Italian cologne vibe, but the performance is brutal: over 12 hours, with strong bursts at 8 hours and still clinging to the skin at 4. Luxury projection and a beautiful aroma. A complete hit. Note: it’s already discontinued. If you find it, don’t pass up the chance. Perfect for daily wear or semi-formal events, looks great with a white shirt.
