Romantic and edible! The spectacular 502 Iris Cartagena by Bon Parfumeur. Finally in my hands, a scent I tried at Esxence in March and knew I had to own. It evokes sensations and textures with incredible photorealism. Setting technical analysis aside, what I feel are three chords: orris, cocoa, and coffee. I imagine a bitter cocoa paste with orris powder that, as it dries, becomes a bitter cream, softened by vanilla and the acidity of coffee. It brings to mind beige, warm, and cozy images. It’s an enveloping, intense, and long-lasting scent with moderate but very present projection. If Nutella had a perfume with iris, it would be this. It smells different from old Dior Homme but shares that iris and cocoa path. It’s my favorite iris scent alongside Nazarena. If you love iris and bitter cocoa, this is a must-buy.

What can I say about this perfume? Well, it has conquered me and keeps doing so every single day. Although its name suggests otherwise, for me, iris isn’t the star in this masterpiece by Clément Marx. It plays a key role, adding that powdery touch that gives it identity, but the real stars are clearly coffee and cocoa. That blend is exquisite and gives it a delicious gourmand character, yet it’s not overly sweet thanks to papyrus and vetiver, which add a green, earthy nuance. That makes it super versatile: intense and elegant, but never intrusive. It’s best for autumn nights or winter days, though it also shines at events. It has great longevity and projection.

Iris Cartagena 502 by Bon Parfumeur ⚜️ For me, it’s an intense and elegant perfume, very gentlemanly and enigmatic, yet not intrusive at all. The different palpable nuances it throws at us are slightly alcoholic along with bitter powdered cocoa and the talc-like/powdery touch of iris that gives an intense sensation that transforms in the dry down into a slightly bitter cream, which is then embraced by a slight citrus touch that brings harmony to the composition, with gourmand touches thanks to the vanilla alongside a certain degree of acidity that my nose interprets as coffee… Evocative fragrance, here the olfactory journey has fallen in love with me and falls in love more and more every day… it’s a heartwarming and enveloping scent, quite dense, intense, and with very good longevity on the skin. It’s ideal for Spring, Fall, and Winter, preferably for elegant or evening occasions. It’s a 10/10 from my point of view since it’s an aromatic profile that I enjoy crazily. The nose behind this fragrance is Clément Marx, and here he gifts us a total masterpiece.🔝

Iris Cartagena 502 by Bon Parfumeur ⚜️ To me, it’s intense, elegant, and very masculine, yet never intrusive. You get a slight boozy note alongside powdered bitter cocoa and that powdery touch of iris that, as it dries, transforms into a bitter cream, wrapped by a citrus note that harmonizes everything, plus gourmand touches of vanilla and the acidity of coffee. It’s evocative and I’m falling in love with it more every day. It’s a touching, dense, intense, and long-lasting scent. Ideal for spring, autumn, and winter, especially for elegant or evening occasions. A 10/10 from my perspective, a profile I enjoy crazily. Clément Marx has gifted us a masterpiece.

The opening is pure vetiver and cedar. In fact, it’s hard to see the iris at first because the vetiver and cedar swallow everything. Then they slowly recede (but don’t disappear), allowing you to see the sweet things hiding underneath. A very well-mixed and balanced amalgam of cocoa, coffee, and some indeterminate amber notes. The dry down has plum-like finishes; I think that’s typical of the combination of patchouli with certain fruits to give the ‘rum’ accord. I must say it’s perfectly balanced and manages to have its own scent.

It’s a balanced mix of cocoa, coffee, and indeterminate amber notes. The dry down features plum-like notes, likely from patchouli and certain fruits contributing to the rum accord. Everything is perfectly balanced and manages to have its own distinct character.

  • This was a love at first sniff for me. My favorite perfume from this house so far and one of the best launches of 2024. What I perceive is powdered cocoa, right between bitter and sweet, mixed with the talc-like floral aspect of iris, coffee, and woods (on my skin, sandalwood and cedar almost equally). This sweetness in its initial phase can be slightly boozy, but then it becomes mostly more aromatic-green, almost mentholated on my skin, mixed with sugarier notes, but in a soft and refined way. Personally, I wouldn’t categorize this scent as gourmand. Not being the same, I do understand it reminds me a bit of Cacao Porcelana since they share this sweet yet ‘powdery’ and earthy cocoa note. However, liking both… in the end, I think I prefer this. 100% unisex aroma and more suitable for fall/winter. Warm and very comforting. Longevity is around 8 hours, and projection and sillage are moderate for most of its evolution. I love it. I want it.

I was dying to get this perfume, and when I finally did, I ended up selling it. When my girlfriend found out, she made me buy it again. She was fascinated by it. It’s a gourmand scent where cocoa really shines. However, whether due to the iris or papyrus, it feels cool and elegant. I sold it because I felt it was sweeter than I like. I guess I was expecting something more like the ‘Morning Star’ profile, where the cocoa is more bitter. But now that I’ve repurchased it, I appreciate the powdery cocoa profile.

What a beast of a perfume! Iris with rich cocoa. It generates compliments, but it’s not for everyone, so test it before buying. You need to really like powdery iris because it’s very prominent.

  • EdwardsScent

It’s not a perfume that brings something different to the existing cocoa scents; it lacks novelty, offering something safe that will please but won’t make you feel unique. I tried it and don’t think it would belong in a good collection due to a lack of creativity to be called a niche fragrance.

I bought a decant from a trusted online store and I still haven’t recovered from the impression: what a beast! From the first spray, iris dominates with a powdery, elegant character, almost like opening a luxury case. A few minutes later, a creamy cocoa emerges that wraps everything in a sweet, warm touch without ever cloying. The combination is so original it doesn’t go unnoticed: every time I wear it, someone asks what I’m wearing. That said, I warn you it’s not for everyone; if powdery iris isn’t your thing, test it first because here it hits hard. But if you enjoy that velvet nuance and want to break the routine, this perfume will win you over. I’m already thinking about getting the full bottle.

What a rich perfume, ideal for going out at night when it’s not hot. It’s not heavy at all, a slightly chalky but rich cocoa, like tree wood, and you can detect a touch of papyrus in the background that gives it sparkle. A perfume delight; it will always be in my collection.

What a delicious perfume? Perfect for going out at night if it’s not too hot. It’s not heavy; it’s a slightly powdery cocoa, very light but rich, like the wood of the tree itself. You can detect a hint of papyrus in the dry down that adds a nice sparkle. A true delight that will always have a place in my collection.

  • Dry cocoa and powdered iris. This perfume recreates everything I hope for in a warm scent for cold nights. Elegant, sophisticated, and balanced. An olfactory wonder.

  • Damn, what a perfume. The opening is quite boozy, but over time it blends with that dry, bitter cocoa, leaving a cloying sweetness. Then comes the vetiver with coffee in the background. It ends up elegant and totally balanced. A real gem.
