Descripción

212 VIP Black Elixir by Carolina Herrera is an oriental fougère fragrance for men. Launched in 2025, this creation unfolds a scent pyramid where the top notes of lavender give way to the heart of black licorice, finishing with a base of vanilla.

  • 212 VIP Black Elixir: a lovely name for a not-so-lovely perfume. From its older brother, the 212 VIP Black, it only keeps the name. This new launch bears no resemblance to the 2017 version, so calling it the elixir is just a marketing strategy. As for the scent, it’s what you’d expect from a typical Puig perfume: it abandons the boozy smell of its predecessor and replaces it with an extremely artificial vanilla, as the house has gotten us used to. The choice of notes is all the rage in perfumery, a cloying scent with little identity and no originality. This is its biggest problem, as within houses like Rabanne or even Carolina Herrera, you find very similar scents, for example the new Phantom Elixir. While its opening was promising, its drydown was disappointing, like everything Carolina Herrera has released lately, landing on that sugary scent that has meant so many sales for them. I recommend it for young people, provided you don’t already own commercial vanilla perfumes launched in the last two years, as acquiring this would be totally redundant. 3 out of 10.

  • At first, it’s very alcoholic and coffee-like. I don’t see any negatives except for the vanilla, which is so replicated and overused by Puig that all their brands use it, giving it that easy, ordinary aroma. Without that vanilla, it would have been delicious; the good parts are the liquor opening and the licorice scent. Scent: 7, Projection: 7, Quality: 7, Longevity: 8, Originality: 7.

  • 212 VIP Black Elixir: a pretty name for a not-so-pretty perfume. From its older brother, it only keeps the name; this new launch doesn’t resemble the 2017 version at all, so calling it an ‘elixir’ is just marketing. The scent is typical Puig: it ditches the boozy vibe for artificial vanilla, as they’ve gotten us used to. The notes are trendy, it smells cloying, lacks identity, and has no originality. Its biggest problem is that brands like Rabanne or Carolina Herrera have similar scents, like Phantom Elixir. The opening was promising, but the dry-down was disappointing, settling into that sugary smell that drives sales. I recommend it only for young people if they don’t already own vanilla commercial perfumes from the last two years, otherwise it’s redundant. 3/10.

  • I just started wearing it and I like it because it delivers on what I expected from a 212 VIP Elixir. They took elements from the Black version but modernized it with a warm, vanilla base, which is the current trend in men’s perfumery. Its strong point is the licorice note, which is very prominent on my skin and that I absolutely love. The projection is high for the first two hours, then it drops, but it meets expectations 100% since this is my first time trying it.

  • I’m trying it out for the first time. I like it because it delivers what I’d expect from a 212 VIP Elixir: they took a part of the 212 VIP Black but modernized it with the super warm, vanilla base that’s trending in designer men’s perfumery. It has another strong point like licorice, which is very prominent on my skin, and I like that. The projection is high for the first two hours, then it drops, but for the first time wearing it, it performs one hundred percent.

This VIP Black Elixir is a very good perfume, but it came out six years too late… VIP Black in 2017… if this had come out under a different name in 2018 or 2019, we’d be talking about a new classic that added more substance and density to the beloved and tasty 212 VIP Black.

They took the base of the veteran CH 212 VIP Black (which, lately, I’m sure was reformulated, lasted little, and projected poorly) and created a new flanker for 2025 by mixing it with the original and a couple of sweet, tasty, best-selling, trendy fragrances for the youth, especially from JP Gaultier or Rabanne (all staying in-house at Puig), to launch the usual new commercial product of 2025. Those who missed the licorice note of the Au Masculin by Lolita Lempicka might find a slight reminiscence here (lightly, watch out). Darkened vanilla, slightly masculinized. Zero novelty. Good performance. Pricey at launch. Wait for the price to drop or for sales. Well-made, but nothing surprising. The young crowd will definitely like it. Personally, I’m already thoroughly bored with scents like this. Does it smell good? Yes. Zero emotion.

  • MauFer Le Pafum

It’s like if 212 VIP Black, Le Male Le Parfum, and One Million had a threesome.

  • RicardoPowa123

It sits between Ultra Male, Le Male, and Bir Intense. Clearly, it’s the party perfume designed to please everyone. Nothing complicated, very versatile.

  • RicardoPowa123

It’s in the same vein as Ultra Male or Most Wanted, but stronger. It’s the perfect party perfume that everyone will like; nothing complicated or difficult. Very versatile.

  • Hugo Cuenca

It stings, screams, and smells generic to my nose… It dries down to something more appealing, but it’s a perfume made to please the masses. Personally, this type of scent bores me.

I’m not a fan of ‘warm’ or vanilla perfumes, but I was gifted a 1.5 ml sample when buying another perfume. You can imagine the sprays weren’t big due to the size, and the amount of liquid was small; however, in less than an hour, I already had two compliments from women. I sprayed it at 1 am (working the graveyard shift), and at 11 am I could still smell it. It projected very well for the first two hours, then I felt constant bursts, but nothing in beast mode. It’s a popular, vanilla, and rich scent that all women like. Since I’m not a fan of these fragrances, I don’t know many, but I know there are plenty out there. It’s slightly similar to the VIP Black, but that one gives me fatigue from the liquor and lavender combination. This one is sweeter, darker, and sexier; I liked it much more. Because of the compliments (who doesn’t like those?), I do think I’ll buy it. It worked well for me, as I said, working the graveyard shift in an air-conditioned office. For hot days, no way.

Boring perfume, like everything Carolina Herrera does. It’s a mix of 212 VIP Black, cheap air-freshener vanilla, and toothpaste. Not just a dispensable perfume, this is a perfume to avoid. 1/10.

According to a very good flanker, I was disappointed with the 212 VIP line. Based on a rich aroma and similarity to the line due to the lavender scent, personally I feel it’s suitable for all climates, not very sweet but more aromatic and fresh. I don’t feel it projects much or lasts long; to multiple noses, it smells like toothpaste, like right after you brush your teeth and smell your mouth. I feel this way along with others, so think twice before trying it, as I was very disappointed.

  • emporioblanko

The best by far is still the classic 212 VIP Black; it’s a beast, and if you have the first batch, then… it’s legendary, because current batches don’t last the same. This 212 VIP Black Elixir? Save your money; it’s not worth it.

  • According to a very good flanker, I was disappointed for what the 212 VIP line is. According to a rich aroma similar to the line due to the lavender scent, personally I feel it’s suitable for all climates, very little sweet but more aromatic and fresh. I don’t feel it projects much or lasts long; to several noses, it smells like toothpaste, like right after you brush your teeth and smell your breath, that’s how I feel it along with others. Think twice before trying it, as I was very disappointed.

  • Honestly, pleasantly surprised. I went in with no expectations and it has gradually won me over. At first, I was surprised by the licorice smell, and on my skin, at least for me, it’s very noticeable. I feel this licorice note wrapped in sheets and it brings me peace. I might be making a movie out of it, but the point is it has completely won me over and I love it. Maybe I’m taking a risk, but I think it will be the underrated designer perfume of the year.

  • Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. I went in with no expectations, and little by little, it has completely won me over. On the opening, I noticed licorice, and on my skin, it’s very noticeable. I feel this licorice note wrapped between sheets, conveying peace. Maybe I’m making a movie out of it, but it has ended up enchanting me, and I love it. Maybe I’m taking a big risk, but I think this will be the overlooked or underrated designer perfume of the year.

  • Personally, I felt something novel; I haven’t smelled anything like it so far. It seems like a good perfume in terms of longevity and projection, with a pleasant aroma, but it’s meant for night wear.

  • I started with just a few sprays and noticed it’s a sweet, slightly woody, and aromatic perfume, but it’s not that potent with so little. I sprayed more than 10 or 15 at a night event, and it created a trail I imagine as violet and pink with good projection, making it unisex but very youthful. That vanilla sweetness is wrapped in a powdery bubble with lavender that gives it a magical touch. If it had more punch, it would be my signature, although I could still smell it on my skin the next day.

  • Powdery lavender opening, a bit dry, quite pleasant with that cozy sweetness. However, the dry-down is very reminiscent of Jean Paul Gaultier’s Le Male Le Parfum, with that vanilla and dry chocolate vibe that reminds me of the original 212 Black. It’s not a bad perfume, but it doesn’t project much and feels very similar to others. Even though it’s an intimate scent, it’s good, but I’d choose something else given the price and longevity.

  • I think I have a guilty, sickly obsession with gourmand scents, but with examples like this, you can’t resist. I tried it a while ago and don’t remember exactly what it smelled like, but I do recall an ultra-sweet vanilla scent that obsessed me. Still, I recommend giving it a try because it’s not very balanced; for many, it might be excessively sweet.

  • It smells like sweet vanilla with lavender. I received it as a gift and personally, I hate it; it’s repulsive to me. I own the classic 212 VIP, and that’s the best and sexiest one. I don’t know what they were trying to do with this flanker; it’s far from being good and smells like sweet powder.

  • Smells like sweet vanilla with lavender. I got it as a gift, and honestly, it doesn’t hook me at all—it actually makes me gag. I already own the classic 212 VIP and that’s my favorite; it’s the sexiest one. I don’t know what they were aiming for with this flanker; it’s far from good. It smells overly sweet and powdery.
