Smells less sweet and more dark than 24 Gold, with a very unusual base. The vanilla comes out later, spicy and becomes more pleasant to my nose in the mid and dry-down. It has its charm, but I think the original Gold still holds the crown. Longevity is average, and the sillage, for me, is nothing overwhelming—just a light trail. It’s quite versatile, better suited for cool weather; if I get the chance, I’ll try other offerings from this house, which seem original.
A sweet-woody-spicy scent reminiscent of D&G’s The One Gentleman with a touch of Lalique’s Encre Noire; it keeps the sweetness of the original 24 Gold but amps up the spice. Works for day or night depending on how you apply it (6 to 8 hours). Great value at $50. Opens with a sweet citrus burst that fades quickly, revealing vanilla, leather, patchouli, and a woody base with a hint of vetiver. In my opinion: 1-Platinum, 2-Go Dark, 3-Gold. Depends on pH, age, personal taste, and usage. Edit: Now I’m noticing a resemblance to Cartier’s Declaration d’un Soir—spicy, vetiver, and a scent of dried roses, a mix of helichrysum, lavender, patchouli, and vanilla. Maybe my nose is playing tricks on me, recalling things; perfumers really play with our senses.
