  You don’t need to be a genius to see that something special is happening here: XS Extreme is the work of Rosendo Mateu and Gerard Anthony, which already tells you a lot, because these two have put their shoulders to creations of another level. This perfume is a straight punch, nothing of the commercial and easy stuff you see around these days. It’s a full-on old-school scent, full of twists you don’t know what to expect: it starts violent, rough, and nervous. The opening throws you a dirty, citrusy petit grain that flees quickly to leave a sharp, camphoraceous, and tense greenery, with edges of smoked wood and sweet but taciturn moss. The rose and watermelon give a unique twist that at times reminds you of the dry Mediterranean greens of Fendi’s Theorema. XS Extreme, it’s truly extreme! Powerful and no-nonsense. It has the base of the classic XS, but here there’s more body, personality, depth, and character. Its green soul, the load of herbs and wood, plus the rose-watermelon accord clearly separates it from its younger brother. It’s perfect for autumn and winter, and with a light spray, it also works in spring and summer at night. The longevity is very good, reaching 8+ hours with medium-high projection. It’s an example that when you want to do things right… In short, it’s been an excellent addition to my collection, bringing me the greens of Miracle and Theorema, and the rose of Amor Amor; I could say it’s a blend of those three over the XS base. If you like tough, characterful perfumes, you can’t go wrong. No need to say it’s already discontinued. Very, very good!
