ALMOND POWDER-WRAPPED MEMORIES. Another olfactory ‘flashback’ that came with me along with the body milk. When I tested Heliotrope in the perfumerie, it was like opening a drawer from the past and finding the intact Vaseline Gal Perfumée, the classic pink jar. That powdery, creamy scent I hadn’t smelled in years suddenly transported me back to childhood: covering my face during snowy winters or waiting for the Three Kings amidst the cold. Heliotrope is that hug in the form of a fragrance that lingers in the air long after it evaporates. A talc-heavy aroma evoking an ointment of almond, rose, and heliotrope, perfect for drifting off to sleep like a lullaby, wrapped in nostalgia and comfort.

Total delight for almond lovers in fragrances. It’s a divine absolute of almond, heliotrope, and something slightly boozy, with an accidentally fermented but very subtle touch, no excesses. I did the ‘sleep test’ and woke up intact. Over 8 hours of performance, and that’s an Eau de Toilette. Excellent quality. There’s nothing more to say; I recommend it if you’re into almond scents.

At times, it turns rough, like a bitter almond. It has great longevity and sillage. I think it was what I liked most from Etro, along with Dianthus, although Dianthus was less noticeable.

I’ve been searching for years for a perfume that matches the Etro body milk I was given years ago—the one I loved for being sweet, delicate, and almond-scented without being cloying. Coincidentally, I found the notes for Heliotrope, and it’s exactly what I was looking for. While I don’t know much about its performance yet, I’m certain this is the scent of that milk. It features avoirdupois heliotrope and powdery notes, like a dense almond milk or vanilla playdough, yet it’s not coarse or dirty; it has musky nuances, and the almond feels more like its skin—floury and woody, with a dark, sensual dry down thanks to Peru and Tolu balsam. I can’t wait to try it!
