I put it on and it fits perfectly; what stands out most is that blend of jasmine and roses.
I’ve loved the bottle since I was a little girl, even though my mom said it smelled terrible. To me, it’s always seemed like a perfume with so much personality.
The label says 2019, but it’s actually an Avon classic from years ago—my grandmother’s perfume. It smells great and it’s the only one her skin doesn’t reject, which is so weird! I bought a new bottle for her today, and it’s her exact scent. It feels like a ‘second skin’; it doesn’t trail but sticks to the skin and lasts for hours, though not forever.
This Avon fragrance launched back in ’94, and at the latest in ’96.
This Avon fragrance launched in 1994, maybe as late as 1996.
It’s a ‘sweet’ perfume. It’s very popular in Argentina. This perfume is jasmine in its purest form: not a sweet jasmine like Alien, nor a dry one… it’s like feeling the pure aroma of jasmine at night, fresh and slightly mentholated. Passion Gitana has a tiny hint of rose, but very soft. Ideal for summer nights, winter, fall, and spring—perfect for any season. The bottle looks beautiful, like a bluish plum; it also comes in the Alhambra version. Without a doubt, it’s one of the best jasmine perfumes, even if it doesn’t last long, it gives an incredible happiness boost. I read below that someone compared it to Paloma Picasso; I don’t see it that way since Paloma is heavy on carnation, moss, and civet. Passion Gitana might have a box similar to Paloma’s, even the letters and bottle shape, but it doesn’t match the scent at all.
It’s a ‘sweet’ and very popular perfume in Argentina. It’s pure jasmine—not sweet like Alien or dry, but fresh and slightly minty, like the scent of the flower at night. It has a very soft rose note. Ideal for any season, especially summer. The bottle is gorgeous, like a blue plum; it also comes in the Alhambra version. Without a doubt, it’s one of the best with jasmine; although it doesn’t last long, it brings happiness. I don’t see it as similar to Paloma Picasso, which smells of carnation and moss, even though the bottle looks alike—the scent is totally different.
Finally, Passion Gitana by Avon at Fragrántica! It wasn’t from 2019; it came out between 1994 and 1996, when my mom used it and I was in high school. It smells like my favorite flower, jasmine. It’s creamy, glamorous, intense, and full-bodied. It seems super erotic, floral, and stunning. I haven’t heard of it since the 90s; I hope it stays just as beautiful. Here in Chile, it’s still sold at Avon in various formats: 50ml EDT, the 115ml crystal Alhambra bottle, 150ml splash, and even powders and creams, all very cheap and on sale. I see it as a springtime Paloma Picasso, though it works all year round. It’s a beautiful fragrance, with an 80s soul, ostentatious and lustful.
Finally, Passion Gitana by Avon is on Fragrántica! It’s not from 2019; I’m sure it came out between ’94 and ’96 since my mom wore it and I was in high school. It’s muuuuuch too good, smells like my favorite flower, jasmine. It’s super creamy, glamorous, and intense with great projection. I find it tremendously erotic, floral, and sparkling. I haven’t smelled it since the 90s… I hope it stays just as beautiful. Yes, here in Chile it’s still sold at Avon in various formats: 50ml EDT, the Alhambra bottle at 115ml, and a 150ml splash, plus powders, creams, and deodorants (all cheap and sometimes on sale). I see it as a springtime Paloma Picasso, though it works for any season. It’s a gorgeous fragrance with an ostentatious, lustful 80s soul.
To me, it’s the best lotion; its scent is the essence that has marked me for years. It’s soft but noticeable, perfect. What a shame it’s not so easy to find these days :c

I used it occasionally, luckily for school back in the early 2000s… today I smelled it and wondered what the hell I was thinking when I wore it. Guacala 🤮 Sorry to my ex-classmates 😅
Another Avon gem. The launch date (2019) is wrong, unless it’s a relaunch or reformulation. It’s a vintage perfume, a glamorous and dramatic floral chypre like the ones from before… so similar to many yet so unique. Definitely not for everyone.
Avon Passion Gitana Eau de Toilette is a fragrance that reminds me of vintage perfumes. Although it is technically vintage from the 90s due to its launch date, it’s strong and full of character. Its longevity is low, lasting 1 to 2 hours, with moderate sillage; it’s a fragrance that isn’t easy to wear and takes time to appreciate. Its woody and floral notes are ideal for spring, fall, and winter. I think if it were a designer brand, it would be more appreciated. Well done, Avon, a fragrance truly outside the ordinary!
I took my time writing this and I agree with another comment: it’s a complex but fascinating fragrance. The first thing I noticed was that it ‘hooked’ me the moment I tried it; I couldn’t believe that explosion of sensations in a single spray. Again, I expected less. I gave it time to process. It’s not a mild perfume; it’s extreme—you either love it or hate it. I admit that, without knowing its composition, I would have judged it simply as intense, characterful, and perhaps outdated. But knowing it has jasmine, tangerine orange, and rose, I could identify them and… wow, they play off each other all the time. It’s so intense it distracts me. It’s not for everyone. For me, the citrus dominates and I love it; it’s so realistic I feel like I’m drinking orange juice. Then the jasmine and rose appear, especially the jasmine at its fullest expression. It lasts a long time; I counted 9 hours before showering. Yes, I wear a lot of perfume, not just a few drops. I commend Avon for the design. It definitely has a place in my collection.
Passion Gitana Eau de Toilette by Avon reminds me of vintage perfumes, although by its launch era it is indeed vintage, from the 90s. It’s strong and characterful, though its longevity is low, about 1 to 2 hours, and the trail is moderate. It’s a fragrance that isn’t easy to like and takes time to appreciate; its woods and flowers are ideal for spring, autumn, and winter. I think if it were by a designer house, it would be more appreciated. Well done, Avon; a fragrance outside the ordinary.
