Alien Mirage by Mugler

Wow, if you’re looking for something different, this is it. It’s an overwhelming fragrance that needs to be applied moderately; the projection is excellent and it lasts forever. Intense, ideal for cool or cold climates, because in heat it can become overpowering. Don’t buy it blindly, but it’s worth trying: it’s unique and can captivate if it connects with your skin. For my chemistry, it smells like creamy watermelon. It opens salty, and that marine note persists, along with some metallic touches that give it character. Calone makes it unisex, but the sweet floral bouquet leans it toward feminine, so you should enjoy sweet scents; the cypress is barely noticeable once it dries down.

I love it. I detect similar notes to Chloé’s Love Story. A question: I bought the Mirage version at a prestige perfumerie; the box has valid codes and a QR code on the official website, but the liquid is NOT blue, neither mine nor the tester in the store, both are amber. Why? Anyway, it’s a scent I adore: soft but noticeable, not as sweet as usual, but great.

It’s a scent I love. I sense some notes similar to Chloé’s Love Story. It’s a rare scent, no denying that. Fresh and unisex opening that reminds me of Natura’s Kaiak aero. You can feel the alien DNA from start to finish, although in the opening it’s when it’s least like its progenitor. As it flies through the air, you realize it’s not for everyone: you must like fresh scents with a masculine touch. In the middle of its evolution, the floral appears, before it’s spicy and mineral; at dry down it’s totally Alien with undeclared jasmine and that creamy amber. I was scared of it, but I loved it.

With just two sprays, you go through a mask and are blown away. It’s a fresh, aquatic, crystal-clear EDT, but with all the punch of a Mugler. Don’t let the illusion fool you: Mirage is oceanic, yes, but the lotus flower and white amber give it a sweetness and an overwhelming personality. Very elegant, versatile, for day and night. Subtle yet special, with lots of personality. Out of all the flankers I know, it’s the one that strays furthest from Alien. I think it could have been a star perfume with the right marketing, and if 2020 hadn’t been such a cursed year. For me, it’s been fabulous… the longevity and trail are fantastic for an aquatic EDT. The bottle is gorgeous, like no other, from another planet…💙 All respect to Ropion, undoubtedly a master, unique.

I bought it by mistake! I was looking for a fragrance I smelled at Ulta but couldn’t remember which of the two bottles it was. I took a risk and ordered two. Upon receiving them, I was disappointed: it wasn’t the expected scent. I told myself, give it another chance. I used it for two days in a row and I loved it! The initial notes are mineral (salt) and floral (girlie flower scent), but the subsequent ones are gorgeous. It’s sweet, unparalleled, addictive, soft, gentle, and not aggressive at all.

What a pleasant surprise. It doesn’t resemble anything in my collection; I had read that it was compared to Kenzo Power World and they have nothing to do with each other. Alien Mirage is powerful, with a huge trail and wonderful longevity. The lotus flower, the syringe, and the amber dominate, making it sexy and addictive, mixed with metallic notes that make it unique. I find it versatile, although I’m using it now that it’s cold. I would definitely buy it again. A delight!

What a beautiful fragrance! Hey, I also heard it was aquatic, for summer, blue as the sea, definitely fresh. But I’m not seduced by summer perfumes; I’m more of an autumn-winter person. I love amber, oud, leather, and incense, so I wasn’t interested. I went to the store just to browse, and with testers stuck down due to COVID, who can blame anyone for trying? Coincidentally, when the salesgirl put it on a girl, I sneakily grabbed it and sprayed it on myself. I got scolded a lot, but then I started smelling that rich scent on my wrist. What is this??? Nothing like the other Aliens, sure, but… summery? Fresh? Come on, I don’t think Mugler is getting more watered-down in this life! It’s a powerful perfume, not quite as much as the original, but it makes a presence and has projection worthy of Mugler. What does it smell like? Hard to describe; it’s a rare floral. I don’t know what the metallic notes smell like, but they give it a peculiar touch. Characteristic, and I like it. The amber adds creaminess and feels a bit green. Not for summer, I think; more for a cool night. It’s elegant and special; I need to study it more.

Review in three acts: 1. In the store, I smelled it and thought, ‘What a weird one! It’s fresh, aquatic, salty… nothing like Alien. Not bad, it’s refreshing, but Mugler would have named it something else. It doesn’t bother me, but I could live without it. I won’t buy it.’ 2. That day in March, the salesgirl perfumed me (even my scarf). Two months later, in May, I noticed a soft, fresh scent in a corner of my living room. Where did it come from? The jacket from that day had soaked up Mirage. There’s the Mugler name screaming out, though not so much the Alien name—this perfume has its own thing going on. 3. I finally got the bottle. I said I could live without it, but I found it at half price. I smelled it calmly: it’s fresh, aquatic, airy, and lovely. Despite its mineral-salty note, it’s feminine and delicate. If I were zodiacal, I’d say it’s an air sign scent (I’m Aquarius, lol). Conclusion: If you love Alien for its power and sweetness, stay away; you’ll hate it because it has nothing to do with the classic or Essence Absolue. But if you’re looking for something that identifies you, breaks the mold, and is fresh and mysterious, it could be the launch of the year. The funniest part is that I went from ‘I could live without it’ to ‘it’s going to be in my life for as long as I can.’
