My Heroine by MAC

The moment I atomized it, Narciso Rodríguez for Him EDT popped into my head, but with a twist I can’t quite decipher. In fact, I’m surprised no one has mentioned it. The resemblance to Tuscan Leather is maybe 10%. It’s dark, powdery, and synthetic; while it doesn’t seem like a feminine scent, it has a vibe of feminine makeup. Generous with sprays, the longevity is very good, though I’m not sure about the sillage.

My Heroine is a fragrance with the spirit of the 80s. Sensuality, opulence. A city scent, nocturnal, exciting. Wearing it is like walking into a nightclub or a dance recital with sweaty, colliding bodies to the rhythm of hypnotic music. Clearly, it’s for after 6 PM. If you’re looking for a heavy, lush perfume, this could be the answer.

A clear example that NOT ALL THAT SHINES IS GOLD. The scent is spectacular, the performance is amazing, and let’s not even talk about the price at RISA!. Unfortunately, it’s very hard to find. How many perfumes costing 3 or more times its price would offer what MAC offers?

Spectacular unisex fragrance, although since it’s a very peculiar, rare scent, I find it more suitable for men. The opening is strong and projects for several hours; its longevity is tremendous, easily passing 12 hours. As for the aroma, it’s a mix of tobacco, patchouli, leather, and incense. It’s not easy to get your hands on, so whoever wears it will have a unique, exotic scent, outside the current standards which are sweet, and they will definitely stand out. Ideal for cold climates. In my opinion, it doesn’t resemble Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford at all, maybe in the leather, which is very light in My Heroine, but in the MAC perfume, the smoky and tobacco notes dominate. I recommend testing it first, given its rare and strong scent.

Finally, I have it in my power and I’m wearing it on my neck for the first time… I definitely love it! It’s super special. Don’t let reviews saying it’s male or female fool you: it’s both! The opening has a certain makeup-like aroma that’s nice; it reminds me of the Dior Homme effect, although here there’s no iris generating that effect. The blog queolortiene describes it as ‘rubber smell,’ which is another way of saying it. It also says the opening (0 to 40 mins approx.) leans towards ‘tobacco and leather bordering on a polluted masculine atmosphere,’ and that also seems like an adequate description. I think the patchouli makes its biggest contribution to the opening, giving a strong, potent green balsamic frame that drops significantly later. So until it settles, those three aspects coexist, alternately, something like rubber – club air – something reminiscent of makeup. The incense is smoky at times and powdery at others. Between that smoky-powdery sparkle of dry floral and citrus notes (no declared flowers, so it must be a floral effect from the combination of woods and spices), a beautiful green note emerges! But it’s not cut grass green; it’s green like leaf juice, dense, dark green, ‘woody’?, it’s beautiful! I don’t know if it’s tobacco leaf? I haven’t been able to know that plant… In a video they say it smells like seaweed with leather, and it’s not a bad description. But it’s more complex than just that… As for Narciso Rodríguez For Him EDP, they don’t resemble each other much (maybe perhaps in a slightly wild patchouli)… I don’t know the Intense PD: today my hairdresser complimented it three times, a woman around 45-50 years old. She kept telling me how good it was! Once it’s settled, at 4-5 hours. That’s so they don’t judge it prematurely!

It’s a dark perfume with narcotic, slightly smoky leather notes. It makes me think of a house where opium was smoked (although I don’t know the smell of opium, it makes me think of that atmosphere of dense, stifling air, loaded with delirium and pain). It starts very intense, but as the alcohol dries, interestingly sweet green notes emerge, somewhat powdery, which take away some of the initial harshness. Although the powdery, smoky leather and tobacco notes still predominate. Gradually, it takes on a powdery tone with some citrus touches and fades a bit, although it’s noticeable that it has good projection and longevity. It’s a difficult perfume for noses accustomed to mainstream. It has a lot of character and presence. It’s for not going unnoticed, but especially for not smelling like mainstream, for being dark, somewhat masculine for female use and somewhat feminine for male use. It has left me enchanted! I don’t think it’s for the supposed male rejection, but I do think it’s for those who enjoy those intoxicating atmospheres… It doesn’t smell ‘clean’…

I love this perfume; I tested it many times before buying it. It’s one of the perfumes that lasts the longest on my skin, more than 24 hours. I never recommend buying blind because it’s strong and some notes might not be interpreted well. Although I don’t personally detect wood, it reminds me of some kind of wood. I don’t smell any tobacco at all, unlike the Velvet Teddy by the same brand. Nor does the leather feel familiar to me; I think what I perceive most is the incense and saffron, which combined give it that woody air. It’s one of those fragrances with super personality, unmistakable, and once you wear it, you never forget it… something quite rare in this field lately. I see it for people with a well-defined, strong personality, women over 35. Confident, very confident in themselves. The ideal season to use it is on cold winter days. I’m really happy with my purchase, especially for the longevity! Well done, MAC!

Like millions of women, I love going to ‘MAC’ for lipsticks, eyeshadows, and other cosmetics. Yesterday I bought some -I was going for the new ‘Viva Glam’ which wasn’t on sale yet! Ugh!- but, anyway, and I took the opportunity to get to know these new fragrances inspired by the brand’s most iconic shades, of which I use ‘Ruby Woo’ and ‘Lady Danger’; I tested the corresponding ones for these two and didn’t find them very peculiar (I’ll try them another time), but I applied the scent corresponding to ‘Heroine’ -a color I don’t like for my lips, although I like how other women wear it- which I suspected was intense and mysterious, and here’s what I found: it has among its virtues a long-lasting scent and a powerful trail, however, this ‘gloomy and dark’ aroma is not for me; it was like a ‘freak’ brother of ‘Opium’, ‘Dew Youth’, and ‘The Air of the Times’… ‘Sordid!’ I showed it to three gentlemen and all three rejected it with insults, calling it ‘ugly’, ‘sweaty’, ‘solvent smell’, ‘perfume for bitter women’… so I left it there. It must be the work of a ‘junkie’ paying homage to his beloved ‘heroin’… Recommended if you like peculiar and extravagant scents and if you want to repel the male public, this will be a good option. I didn’t detect any incense, but it was something ‘animalistic’ and smelled like tobacco.
