Zegna Colognia is the house’s signature, a tribute to the Eau de Cologne popularized by Jean Marie Farina in 1802 with his ‘Extra Vieille’, which brought fame to the German city and defined the concept for fragrances with 3-8% concentration. It’s another perfume with a short lifespan that has led some scammers to ask ridiculous prices that are absolutely unjustified. Never pay more than $50 for this little-known gem. It’s not very original, but also not generic. It’s a friendly, discreet EdT that opens with a floral lime harmony, slightly saturated and sweet, but settles into cedar and amber on the dry down, giving a very light, powdery, and balanced effect with 6 hours of longevity. Everything denotes pleasant, masculine nobility, with a bold floral edge. It feels like a spring-summer scent, though wearing it at night is very enjoyable for those close by, as its life extends and you get to enjoy its beautiful evolution. I see it in the same line as Kouros Cologne Sport, but without offering the same performance; however, I think it’s an excellent example of the house’s philosophy on the Cologne concept. If you add to that the fact that it’s hard to find, and if you do find it at a fair price, don’t hesitate to pick it up. It’s a creation by Daniela Andrier and Antoine Lie.
