Share what you noticed: opening, drydown, sillage and the moments when it works for you.
It’s true that the opening is a standard chypre, very similar to other big hitters like Hacivat or Aventus, but the special part is the dry-down. Here there’s nothing like its cousins: it dries out dark, with suede, leather, wood, and amber, all very balanced and not annoying. It’s very well thought out and executed. I didn’t buy it because I’d get kicked out of the house if I kept buying perfumes, and although it doesn’t smell entirely new, it has elements of several I already own, but look, it’s really good.
True, the opening is a classic chypre, very similar to other house giants like Hacivat or Aventus, but the magic happens in the dry-down. Here it diverges from its cousins: it turns dark, featuring suede, leather, wood, and amber, all perfectly balanced and not annoying. It’s brilliantly conceived and executed. I didn’t buy it because I’d get kicked out of the house if I kept spending on perfumes, and while it doesn’t smell entirely new, it shares elements with several bottles I already own, but hey, it’s really well done.
Unfortunately, it didn’t captivate me. It has that Aventus vibe, but with its own touches, especially in the dry-down. The opening makes you think, ‘Oh shit, here we go again,’ but in the end, it’s pleasant. You can definitely smell the smoky side, with woods and a gorgeous suede note. The issue is that similarity to Aventus, which, in my opinion, holds it back. It performs well, but I wouldn’t pay more than 3 euros per ml. There are similar niche options I prefer. It’s versatile and works almost year-round.
I tested a decant sent to me and I agree with FragranceX. It starts with that typical ‘Aventus’ scent, which reminded me a lot of Loewe Esencia EDP. Then it darkens, and the leather comes out, giving it a more serious twist. I was unfamiliar with this perfume, and it smells great; despite being a somewhat overused scent, it has its own DNA. I see it as elegant, formal, and for adults (30s+). It projects well and seems to have good longevity. Aside from intense summer heat, it’s quite wearable. I liked it!
Vespero by Jeroboam tries to blend the classic fougère with current trends. It has that ‘Aventus’ atmosphere at first, but soon it becomes clear it’s heading in a different direction. Suede, geranium, and patchouli take center stage and dominate the fragrance. It’s a mature, accorded, darker, heavier, and longer-lasting take on the Aventus DNA. It’s by no means a clone; they are distinct aromas, but I understand the comparison. Ideal for spring/fall. In summer with high heat, it can be too heavy, but it works great in the cold. Good longevity (7-8 hours), with moderate sillage and projection. Recommended.

Suede, geranium, and patchouli gain ground and take over the fragrance. We can define it as a mature, accorded, darker, heavier, and longer-lasting version of the Aventus DNA. It’s not a clone at all; they are two very different scents, though I do understand the comparison. In my opinion, it’s ideal for spring/fall. In summer with intense heat, it can be too heavy, but it works well in the cold. Good longevity (7-8 hours on my skin), with moderate sillage and projection. Recommended.
