  I’ve been wanting this for ages, and when it arrived as a Christmas gift, it hit me right away: it reminds me of Annick Goutal’s Sables but with a ruder, sunnier vibe. Hay makes an immediate impression—dry, warm, almost crunchy. It blends with immortelle for that golden herbal touch, paired with damp earth that grounds the scent in reality. The honey isn’t sweet or polished; it floats in the air like an ambient aroma, not clinging to the skin. Picture a hot day in the countryside, with the sun baking the stubble after harvest. Beehives are nearby, invisible yet present. A gentle breeze brings this unmistakable scent: warm honey, dry grass, plant dust, a quiet field. It’s a sensory, evocative perfume, more atmospheric than decorative. It doesn’t aim to please everyone, but to transport. On the skin, it smells like a memory: rural vacations, slow summer, time suspended between insects, sun, and silence.

  Today two Lush solids arrived: The Bee’s Knees and No Way to Say Goodbye. I was hoping for the other one, but I absolutely love this one. Does it have hay notes? I saw nBitor mention it in Babieca, one of his wildest perfumes, and here there are many things that remind me of that, though much softer and less aggressive. The Bee’s Knees has a fruity sweetness, but it’s not the main event; sometimes it hides among bitter, rough herbs, deep as sticking your nose into a box of tea. Almost aquatic, like a dancing fountain with boiling infusions. Sometimes it’s accompanied by smoke: at first raw and ashy, like lapsang, and later more incense-like and mystical. Still tenacious. When it dries, it smells very much like licorice. It has many facets that stay united, moving forward or backward without losing their spotlight. The result is unique.
