Darkbeat
I bought this blind based on great reviews and found it here in Spain at an insane price for the 100ml EDP. It arrived a few days ago along with its sibling, Blossom Oud, and after testing it, here’s my take. The opening is powerful, featuring a spiced wood scent that’s slightly spicy and exotic, but within minutes it gives way to a brutal, powdery, and apothecary-style rose over a bed of oud, also spiced and exotic. This phase lasts many hours on the skin; the rose stands out the entire time, keeping the oud in the background. Gradually, an undeclared patchouli creeps in from the base, adding an earthy touch. The leather takes several hours to appear, showing up very faintly in the final phase, as if it’s afraid to come out or just an olfactory illusion. The dry down is very soft after an intense development. It’s unisex, but for me, the rose scent is too strong, and I’d prefer a woman wear it, though obviously, this is subjective, and since I already have it, I’ll use it anyway. It’s intense and very long-lasting, so forget it if you’re looking for something fresh and light, but it’s unisex and at an incredible price, highly recommended if you love roses.
