  • I don’t know why this fantastic fragrance from Romano Ricci brings me almost childish memories of a powder-rose perfume immersed in exquisite oriental woods. It has immense longevity and presence; you can’t miss it. Wearing it is like stepping into a warm Indian shop dyed in sunset pastels, surrounded by a rose garden. Flawless notes of oud and roses throughout its entire life. Love at first sight for me.

  • Midnight Oud transports you to the cool nights of the Sahara desert. It’s not easy; it doesn’t fit current sweet tastes; it’s authoritative and arrogant. When worn, it sometimes smells like sun-warmed acidic roses, other times like an animalic scent from perfumes decades ago, all with smoky, incisive, and resinous oud. It’s a rollercoaster of notes with fluctuating intensities. Sometimes it smells great, other times you feel it’s cloying with that rocky, earthy, dry-wood vibe. It’s an old-school perfume to stand out and put your personal stamp on it. Unisex: in women, roses and patchouli give elegance and authority; in men, the animalic notes with oud provide a formal character with bohemian touches. Excellent fixation and sillage, reasonable price for the quality. An oriental made for Western tastes, a very personal aroma. Advice: better to test before buying blindly; it doesn’t suit everyone.

  • I received it today and sprayed several for a family lunch. The opening is a very spicy, almost peppery rose that’s too acidic for my taste; it’s not my kind of rose. But after two hours, that note fades and the woods take over, which I absolutely love. I don’t detect it on my neck, but on my wrist and handkerchief: dry, sweet, warm woods with a well-blended iso-woody vibe. I’ve been wearing it since 11 AM and it’s still present at 8 PM. I love the final result, but the first two hours are like acidic juice that shakes my brain. It reminds me of Club de Nuit Intense, Eau du Soir, or blends of Essential Oud and Bulgarian rose. I’ll see if I can get used to this accord to enjoy what comes after in this Midnight Oud.

In my experience, it’s a unisex oriental with a strong feminine character, good performance, and linear development. A spicy, feminine oriental rose dominates, accompanied by saffron, white musk, clove, pepper, and geranium. In the background, there are discreet woods; I don’t perceive absolute oud. It’s not woody, but rather a face-off between Moroccan and Damask roses and spices. Moderate sillage, high fixation. It’s not bad, but personally, I wouldn’t buy it. Cheers to the community.

  • Mysterious and delicate rose-oud combo: roses, saffron, oud, and musk with a subtle animalic touch that adds interest. Unisex, linear development, moderate sillage, and 6-7 hours of longevity. Compared to Magnificently Dubai, it’s less citrusy, and versus Alexandre J’s Rose Oud, it’s much less sweet; I prefer both of those. It also reminds me of JHAG’s Another Oud, but this is less sweet and slightly less long-lasting, so I’d still choose this one. Curiously: after two days of testing and comparisons, it went from being my favorite at first to becoming less and less appealing. Rating: 6/10 overall, 6.5/10 longevity, 7/10 sillage, 4/10 value for money, 6.5/10 versatility, 7/10 packaging. Didn’t buy it.
