I bought it blind because I’m a fan of Rose Prick by TF. After falling in love with the Rose of China, I decided to try this one since the notes caught my eye. I have to say, it disappointed me. The scent is a citrussy, musky rose—nothing I haven’t smelled before. It didn’t impress me like TF usually does. It was just a ‘meh’. What really sealed the deal for me was its poor longevity and barely noticeable sillage. I couldn’t smell it on my skin even after burying my nose in it for less than an hour. So, I let it go. Too expensive for what it offers.

  • A couple of weeks ago, a tester of Rose d’Amalfi finally arrived in my city. Seeing it on the shelf (it had been ages since anything new appeared at TF), I eagerly asked to try it, hoping Rose Prick would also be there—that’s the one I truly wanted to know. I didn’t have high expectations for Rose d’Amalfi; I thought, ‘another rose?’. But what a pleasant surprise! It’s a dense, almost honeyed rose, like candied rose concentrated into jam. It’s reminiscent of Bond 9 West Side, or a Lady Vengeance with an overdose of syrup, or Tresor La Nuit Musc Diamant with the musk dialed way down… There isn’t a single woody note here, which explains why darlenerock fled in a panic when she was expecting something like Rose Prick (which I got to try the day before)—they are completely different! Amalfi Rose is creamy, round, sweet, and almost intoxicating because it envelops you. I really love these rose interpretations. If it weren’t so outrageously expensive in Argentina right now (you can’t even afford it on installments), I’d buy it without hesitation…

  • I tried it again after that October ’23 experience… I absolutely love it. If I had the money, I would have bought it already. It’s a creamy rose with a slight talciness, full-bodied, and perfectly balanced—nothing missing, nothing extra. If anyone knows of a dupe, clone, or similar scent in this style, I’d love to hear about it…
