I only tried the one from MyScentJourney, and it really caught my eye. It’s a grey oud, nothing like the horse smell it used to have, but rather something mineral and clean, as if it smells like stone. I guess it’s because of that leather blend and the grape touch Casaniche brought. It’s a challenge because of how unique it smells, not because it’s animalic, but I did like it. It gives off a sophisticated, almost formal vibe. My girlfriend loves it, even though oud isn’t her thing. It’s a true experience. It’s only sold in boutiques, so if you want to try it, sample Ford’s Oud Minerale and add a grape touch, or mix a classic oud with that Ford.
I got one of the early editions, before they added that fruity grape twist, and it was a beast of a mineral oud—sharp and cold—mixed with a deep, aged rose that wasn’t dusty, giving an original twist to the classic rose-oud combo and living up to its name, Oscorud. Although it sounds like LV’s Ombre Nomade or Xerjoff’s More Than Words, Oscurod is a crazier relative: while the others have balsamic notes that add warmth and refinement, this one has musky facets that reinforce that mineral, cold, and incisive oud sensation. The evolution is somewhat linear, but the performance is top-notch.
I got one of the early editions, before they added that fruity grape twist, and it was a beast of a mineral oud—cold and sharp—paired with a deep, aged rose that wasn’t dusty, giving an original twist to the classic rose-oud combo and living up to its name, Oscorud. Although it has similarities to LV’s Ombre Nomade or Xerjoff’s More Than Words, Oscurod is a crazier relative: while the LV one is balsamic and warm, Oscurod is musky, cold, and incisive. The evolution was linear, but the performance was brutal.
I already have the reformulated version of OscUroD, and it’s a gem of the oud-rose duo. It’s not for beginners if you’ve never tried oud, but it doesn’t smell like feces or anything weird. The opening is curious, with a sweetness that calms the cypriol. As time passes, it improves: the sweetness and cypriol fade, leaving dry, characterful oud and cedar, like dark wood, all mixed with rose, musk, oakmoss, and a warm resinous touch. In short, a great perfume with excellent longevity (more than 12 hours on skin) and powerful projection for the first 4 hours (up to 2 meters) without being annoying. Ideal for standing out in autumn and winter at night.
I have the reformulated OscuroD, and it’s a crack of a combo for oud-rose. It’s not for beginners if you lack experience, but it doesn’t smell like manure or anything weird. The opening is interesting, with a sweetness that softens the cypriol. As it settles, it improves: the sweetness and cypriol recede, letting dry, characterful oud and cedar take center stage, accompanied by dark wood, rose, musk, oakmoss, and a resinous touch that adds warmth. Overall, it’s a very good perfume with excellent longevity and projection, ideal for standing out in winter and autumn at night. More than 12 hours on skin, filling the room in the first 4 hours without being invasive.
