Only by Julio Iglesias is an oriental woody fragrance for women. Launched in 1989, this composition was created by perfumer Ramon Monegal. The top notes unfold with plum, pineapple, cilantro, and bergamot; the heart reveals violet, white honey, ylang-ylang, mimosa, carnation, neroli, rose, and orchid; while the base settles on oakmoss, galbanum, sandalwood, amber, musk, vanilla, French labdanum, Virginia cedar, benzoin, vetiver, and patchouli.

Only was a beast, one of the first celebrity launches with complexity that dazzled. It smelled refined, with projection and longevity on par with any designer house. It was sweet (not caramel), woody, with appetizing fruity notes (the pineapple was very noticeable) and a floral touch that framed a aromatic sandalwood and potent cedar. On the first spray, the pineapple was delicious; with the honey, it tasted like pineapple in syrup. Then came the mimosa, rose, violet, and a strong carnation. After an hour, the flowers gave way to the woods, which became intense protagonists, leaving the fruit and honey in the background. After about four hours, the woods softened and the perfume became velvety. It accompanied me all day and lasted on clothes until they were washed. It was a sublime and seductive oriental. When I found out it was discontinued, I couldn’t believe it: beautiful works shouldn’t disappear, it’s a sin. Today, after so many years, I still miss you.
