About Metal Lavender
Metal Lavender: A New Aromatic Unisex Fragrance from Matiere Premiere
Matiere Premiere introduces Metal Lavender, a bold creation that reimagines lavender with a modern, metallic twist. Launched in 2026, this fragrance is part of perfumer Aurélien Guichard's collection, known for his expertise in sourcing high-quality raw materials.
Metal Lavender belongs to the aromatic olfactory family, offering a sensory experience that blends the freshness of lavender with unexpected nuances. The opening is vibrant, with wild lavender evoking blooming fields, but soon a metallic accord unfolds, giving it a contemporary, almost futuristic character.
Recommended for lovers of niche perfumery who enjoy exploring new interpretations of classic ingredients. Ideal for those seeking a distinctive olfactory signature and not afraid to stand out.
Metal Lavender is a bold proposal that deserves to be discovered. Its metallic approach to lavender is original and well-executed, though it may not appeal to everyone. If you're looking for something different, this is an excellent choice.

A very aromatic fragrance, with a very subtle and different lavender, combined with vanilla powder. I really like it.
I attended the launch event of this release in Buenos Aires, where the founder himself of Matière Première, Caius von Knorring, told us about where they source their raw materials, that there are two types of lavender, the concept he wanted to convey, etc. Actually, with this information, I could appreciate the fragrance better, because at first sniff, it was an automatic ‘no’ for me. Obviously, lavender is the protagonist, but it’s not the lavender we’re used to. It’s a cold, metallic, quite mineral lavender. It’s definitely designed for people who love fragrances that convey extreme cleanliness. It gives a sensation of expensive soap with metallic undertones. It’s definitely not a safe blind buy. I suggest trying it no matter what, because the fragrance itself is different from what’s on the market and because it changes a lot depending on skin. Several of us who went to the event, I smelled it on them and it was different on everyone. If you like my reviews, let me know 🙂 TikTok / IG: @estefybonham. Thanks!
I was lucky to go to the launch of this fragrance, which took place in Buenos Aires. Matière Première is a brand with a very clear and transparent concept, and in this fragrance we see it realized, as in the rest of the portfolio. Here we have lavender, obtained from lavandin and lavender absolute from Grasse, accompanied by an accord of musk and cashmere. Nothing more, nothing less. The opening is a bit shocking to me; maybe the metallic aspect of this work isn’t really for me, but I admit that in the drydown it becomes much more pleasant and wearable. I think that for lavender fans, it’s a super interesting option: here they’ll get a very modern, even brutalist approach to the note, so to speak. As for recommending it, I’m still using it to get a more solid verdict, even though it doesn’t seem to be for me. That said, I invite users to try it and draw their own conclusions; it’s a versatile and fresh fragrance that will please and gather compliments.
I tried it today and I didn’t like it. I smell lavender, but immediately a strong musk appears, Erba Pura style, accompanied by a very strong note of ambergris (smells like vinegar). I don’t like it at all. That said, it’s strong. I sprayed it on a hair accessory and it still smells a lot.
I bought a lavender body cream in Brihuega a few months ago and this fragrance smells exactly like that, pure lavender and that’s it. There’s no mystery, magic, nothing. I’m sorry because Parisian musc and Encens suave are 2 of my favorite fragrances from the house and this new one has nothing to do with them. I don’t understand the point.
Oh no. This is not a good launch, it doesn’t even fit with the rest of the brand where always the main note structures the essence. Although initially we will perceive a cold, vaporous and slightly metallic lavender. All the pleasantness of its beginning will be lost in favor of a drydown totally loaded with synthetic fixatives that provide that characteristic smell inspired by ambergris. I don’t know exactly what it is, whether Ambroxan or Ambrocenide, but it takes over the fragrance and doesn’t let go, turning it into a totally linear and dispensable perfume. Bad.
