Descripción

L'Explicite by The House of Oud is a floral fruity gourmand olfactory family creation, designed for men and women. This new fragrance, launched in 2025, was conceived by perfumer Cristian Calabro. Its olfactory pyramid unfolds with top notes of ylang-ylang and lemon zest; a heart evoking banana, peanut butter, bread, and spices; and a base of violet, musk, amber, and fruits.

  • Definitely my new obsession, especially that banana note. Smells like a real banana gummy, nothing synthetic or weirdly colored. On my skin, I don’t pick up the peanut butter, which is a relief. The drydown becomes powdery and pleasant, and everyone smells it when I wear it. It’s a super-sweet essence, not for everyone, but for gourmand lovers, it’s in a league of its own. Just to be clear: if I liked the Celeste, this is better because it doesn’t smell like extreme violet. Here, the banana is the absolute protagonist. Long-lasting and noticeable. 10/10

  • Definitely my new obsession, especially that banana note. It’s incredible and addictive—sweet and magnetic. Smells like a real banana gummy, nothing synthetic or artificially colored. On my skin, I don’t detect any peanut butter at all. It has everything I’m looking for: once it dries down, it becomes powdery and pleasant, and everyone asks what I’m wearing. It’s not for everyone; it’s a very sweet essence. Just to be clear: I previously owned the Celeste and sold it because of the overpowering violet, but here that note doesn’t dominate; the banana is clearly the star. For gourmand lovers. Long-lasting and very noticeable. 10/10

  • Brutal performance; the banana smells incredibly delicious. Personally, as it dries down, it leaves a cookie scent that makes it feel a bit heavy. It’s invasive and risky. I would have preferred something more tropical, where the banana invites you to go. It’s a potent gourmand that doesn’t work for me. I see it as unisex-feminine, but if I were a woman, I wouldn’t wear it much because it feels a bit overwhelming.

  • Upon leaving, the banana hits everyone hard: intense, warm, almost golden. It doesn’t let anything else breathe. Maybe the ylang-ylang gives it that enveloping creaminess, and the peanut butter adds a salty touch that, far from reducing the sweetness, makes it livelier. But without a doubt, the king is the banana. The violet only appears after it dries down significantly, shifting the vibe to something unique. It’s not the clean violet of Insolence, but a velvety, almost carnal one, like the violet in Giardini’s Celeste. It doesn’t sit on the skin; it melts. Gourmand? Fruity? People talk about banana bread; I haven’t tried that, but it’s definitely not cloying. It doesn’t smell like dessert. It’s dense, like ripe pulp, enveloping and striking without being overwhelming. It doesn’t seek elegance. It has something playful, almost mischievous, like a laugh escaping. It conveys living in the moment without measuring it. It’s that version of you that shows up when no one is watching. The one that plays, improvises, and breathes without rushing. The one that simply is.

  • At first, the banana takes over everything: intense, warm, almost golden. It doesn’t let anything else breathe. Maybe the ylang-ylang gives it that creaminess that wraps around you, and perhaps the peanut butter is responsible for that salty touch that, far from reducing the sweetness, makes it livelier. But there’s no doubt here: the king is the banana himself. It’s only after some time has passed that the violet starts to show, and that’s when the scent shifts and becomes unique. It’s not the clean, crystalline violet of Insolence; it’s a softer, almost carnal violet, reminiscent of the one in Giardini’s Celeste. A violet that doesn’t just sit there—it melts. Is it gourmand? Is it fruity? People talk a lot about it smelling like banana bread; I can’t confirm that because I haven’t tried that bread, but I can say it’s not cloying. It doesn’t smell like dessert. It’s dense, it’s ripe pulp, it’s enveloping and striking, but it doesn’t reach saturation. This perfume isn’t trying to be elegant. It has something playful, almost mischievous, like a laugh that slips out unintentionally. It conveys that feeling of living in the moment without overthinking it. It’s that version of you that shows up when you don’t realize anyone is watching. The one who plays. The one who improvises. The one who breathes without rushing. The one who simply is.

  • Oh my goodness, what a beautiful, unique, and rich fragrance. If I had to summarize what it smells like, it’s violet caramel and banana with something very warm and comforting in the background. Notable olfactory quality. The violet caramel reminds me of Mancera’s Choco Violet, but with banana instead of chocolate. The best banana perfume I’ve tried. It got me compliments. Gourmand but very balanced; it’s not photorealistic, it’s just ‘a perfume’.

Finally found what I was looking for in Buontalenti; so far, it’s my best THOO purchase. A sweet, warm scent reminiscent of banana bread topped with slices and condensed milk. It’s gourmand but not childish, classic, or sexy—it doesn’t scream ‘little black dress and red lips.’ It’s like a sugar hug, perfect for a thick, luxurious, and comfortable cashmere sweater. The trail is heavy and lasts over 8 hours.

This is exactly what I expected from Buontalenti; in fact, so far it’s been my best experience with THOO. It’s a sweet and warm scent. Smells like banana bread, with slices of banana and condensed milk on top. It’s gourmand, but not childish; however, it’s neither stately, classic, nor sexy. Nothing about it screams ‘little black dress and red lipstick.’ It’s a big sugar hug that would pair better with a thick, luxurious cashmere sweater—comfortable yet opulent. Heavy trail, lasting 8+ hours.
