  1. First off, the 2013 Eau de Parfum is discontinued; this is the new 2020 Eau de Fraiche. It opens with alcohol, fruit, and ripe apple (which was a heart note in the old version, now it’s top) mixed with woods—a weird combo at first. Then papyrus kicks in, adding a dry touch that, combined with the initial green notes, creates something interesting. Even though leather isn’t listed in the notes, it’s there: a dirty jacket-style leather, similar to La Yuqawam. Up to this point, it’s decent and could have gone somewhere great, but it’s like starting a race from the finish line, speeding off, and then running out of gas before you can shift into the last gear. It lacks power, projects nothing, and that green-leather interplay fades into the skin almost immediately. It stays alive on the skin for another hour before starting to fall apart, leaving behind a dark vetiver that lingers alone for a bit longer. It’s a shame because there was something building up, but the balloon burst before it could tie the knot.
