It’s a volatile fragrance that barely lasts an hour on my skin. I’m used to wearing Florentine iris perfumes and thought Hiris would be up to the task, but it didn’t fully win me over; it’s too subtle. It’s hard to detect due to the sweetness of the honey and amber.
Hermes’ Hiris is a lovely fragrance. I have the current presentation with the typical transparent bottle, not the blue one shown in the photo. On my skin, it’s a woody iris with an almost bitter touch. I don’t perceive any sweetness from the honey. I wouldn’t describe it as feminine; I’d say it’s perfectly unisex. I consider it elegant and serious. It works well in summer in indoor spaces, like an office. The downside is that it has somewhat poor longevity, which doesn’t match the price, given that it’s meant for daily wear. At this price point, you can surely find something that stands out more, even if it’s an interesting representation of iris. I recommend it for brand fans; for those just getting into Hermes, I think there are other options to introduce themselves to the brand’s perfumes.
I added it to my collection because my Infusion d’Iris by Prada was running low, and I wanted a similar but distinct substitute. The Bois d’Iris by The Different Company didn’t work for me due to its leather note, but that’s a different story. Hermes’ Hiris has two things I really dislike: a bitter, dry opening with a hint of green vegetal notes and zero projection. I agree with the previous review; it’s a woody, dry iris, not sweet at all. I don’t detect any rose, vanilla, or honey whatsoever. Once the opening fades, it leaves a fairly pleasant iris, but after half an hour, you’ll barely smell it, sticking close to the skin. For me, it lasts 3-4 hours, but very close to the skin. For now, I use it at home, right after a shower, to wander around the garden, and so on. My search for a substitute for Infusion d’Iris continues.
It’s a velvety, enveloping, luminous Italian iris. Working with iris is tricky because it can easily end up dry and powdery, but here it’s well-blended. It smells Mediterranean, feminine, yet a man can wear it with classic style. For a woman, it pairs well with a blazer and shirt, ideal for work. The iris stands out from start to finish—velvety and ethereal—very well balanced by an amber that gives it superb longevity. It doesn’t smell vintage or overly youthful; it’s perfect for any age looking to make an elegant, classic impression. The harmony with cedar and honey adds a friendly character and a memory effect. It’s easy to identify and recall. Just a note: in summer, it feels out of place due to a lack of freshness; it’s pure, warm velvet, better suited to cooler temperatures. A classic, for any age and gender, with a very Italian cut. A good Hermes perfume.
It doesn’t even last half an hour on the skin, what a pity given how delicious it smells.
At first, it smells like dry iris, but soon it turns creamy. The longevity is short, as everyone says, which is a shame because the scent is so pleasant. It’s clean, neat, and minimalist, yet endearing because it blends with the warmth of the skin, creating a close aura you notice with every movement.
Sounds a lot like Chanel 19 EDT.
