I had this perfume; I love it, and they don’t make it anymore. Why? Mr. Armani. They stole it from me once when I went to do night watch; it was the only thing missing from my wallet. What hate! Damn thief, may your hand fall off, damn jealous one.

  • I love this perfume; it smells like mandarins, oranges, and bergamot. I used it in the 90s at university or high school, I’m not sure which. It’s almost impossible to find now.

  • Gio has a special chapter in my life. It was my first imported perfume at 15 when I knew little about fragrances. I was leaving on a trip, saw the ad at the airport, arrived at my destination, and tried it… total magic for my entire life! It’s intense, elegant, and persistent; it impacted me. I dare say it’s the best I’ve ever used. It stimulates me so much, making me feel sexy and confident. There’s almost nothing left in the bottle; I use it for special occasions (my wedding and birthdays). I don’t understand how Armani discontinued it; a total error. Without a doubt, the 90s fragrances were the best: original, bold, and persistent. And this is the best of all. Mr. Armani, please relaunch it. If anyone knows something similar, pass me the info.

  • I love this perfume; I’ve searched for it heaven and earth. I hope they do a relaunch or at least a limited edition for those of us waiting.

Superlative is how I rate this Armani. It was one of my favorites a long time ago: a sweet, addictive floral scent that made me feel alive, happy, energetic, feminine, and sexy. The flowers and vanilla combine especially well, and the cloves are the cherry on top.

  • This perfume has no comparison to any I’ve tried. I bought it on our honeymoon and stayed loyal to it for 20 years. What a shame Armani discontinued it. I’ve tried all of the house’s scents, and none reach its level. What a pity. I hope they relaunch it.

  • I first met him in my wild youth. A very vain friend taught me the one her father had gifted her, and we couldn’t stop sniffing it until we almost dropped it; it was my first love. I fell in love instantly and begged for my own. It was expensive, my mom struggled to buy the 50ml, and I begged that every drop last forever. I keep the kisses from my first love, thanks to this Lord, very well in my memory. Today, closing my eyes, I still smell him… to Mr. Gio.

  • The best perfume of my life. Just spraying it gives you joy. What a shame they delisted it… since then I haven’t found my personal perfume. I like many, but like this one… none. Please Armani, fix it. Fingers crossed! 😉

  • The best perfume of my life. The moment you spray it, you feel joy. What a shame they discontinued it… since then, I haven’t found my personal scent. I like many, but like this one… none. Please Armani, fix it. Thumbs up! 😉

  • A lost gem… That’s this wonder. I remember it was still sold in Chile 8 or 10 years ago, but they took it off the shelves completely and it’s a shame… A floral bomb where the tuberose perfectly balances the peach and a persistent gardenia with a warm base… it’s cheerful, sparkling, yet classy and elegant… ideal for day or night, in that sunny line like Amarige or Creation… this is a tremendous example that Armani stopped producing… I never owned one, only tried it, and it always evoked joy, a strong and frontal personality… it requires taking care of this 90s bomb… I hope to see it around again.

The scent of my youth, sweet and youthful. Armani is top-tier for both clothes and perfumes. I wouldn’t buy it again, but I would recommend it for girls between 20 and 30.

  • One of the best perfumes I’ve ever smelled. It brings the opulence of flowers, fruits, and oriental spices into the day, into the light, and into the hustle of the street without being out of place or shy. It smells like pure luxury, the kind from the late 80s and early 90s, so charismatic. For me, Gio was the Valentino client or the Dior of Ferré: aesthetic, refined, European, but for the street, work, and the everyday. A woman who, under a gray suit, wears La Perla lingerie. Armani was the best at that. Real, sophisticated women, a perfect cross between haute couture and the working girl. Gio was exactly that, simple but hard to capture. I just found a miniature from twenty years ago that wasn’t opened; there was 15% of liquid left, amber-colored, with a dense, macerated sediment. What joy to smell Gio again. What a great perfume and what a beautiful bottle, minimal but with quality presence. It put me in a good mood.

  • Fruity preserves, flowers, and mandarins, with lots of peaches. Honey, woods, incense, spices… more honey and more peaches. It’s the scent of summer or a late spring day with hot sun and tender fruit. It reminds me of my childhood, to my grandma’s drawer of peaches ready for jam. I keep it stored like a relic and it’s still intact. It has a curious presentation with a wooden cap that absorbs the oils, in the ‘Oriental Woods’ style. I love it! It’s not just a fruity fragrance, not even close; it’s a caramel perfume, an extract, unique and full of memories. P.S.: Although it evokes summer and spring, it’s for wearing in winter and fall because it’s so sweet and enveloping.

Gio is undoubtedly Armani’s masterpiece. In my mind, there is no reasonable reason for such a jewel to be discontinued; every time I recall that scent, I feel sad because I know I’ll never enjoy it again. Among the fruity bombs of the 90s where peach reigned, Gio stood out like the moon in a starry night. I heard white florals, citrus, and woods combining perfectly like the notes of a beautiful waltz. It was a perfume that stuck to the skin, very elegant and chic. What a shame I can no longer dance to the tune of this waltz. Rating 10/10.

  • VainillaDulce

Gio is, without a doubt, Armani’s masterpiece. I don’t understand why they discontinued it; every time I remember it, it hurts my soul because I know I won’t be able to enjoy it anymore. Among the fruity fragrances of the 90s with peach, Gio stood out like the moon in a starry night. It smelled of white flowers, citrus, and woods, combining perfectly like a beautiful waltz. It lingered on the skin, very elegant and chic. What a shame I can’t dance with it anymore. Rating 10/10.

  • Very, very floral. I almost bought it blind but saved myself because it’s ridiculously expensive. I managed to grab a miniature, and while it smells nice, it’s nothing special; I imagined it as unique and it turned out to be very generic. It smells good and has quality, with lots of real flowers and not artificial ones, but the result doesn’t justify the production cost, which is why they pulled it from the market. On the other hand, Aqua di Gio is timeless and much better. Just my theory and personal opinion.

  • Another new addition to the collection! What memories this brings back… Luckily, it’s still a fair price considering the insane markups online. I think the seller has more units; if anyone’s interested…

  • Ugh, where did you even find the Gio? It’s the best perfume I’ve ever owned, and I honestly think it was a mistake for Armani to delist it. If you have any leads on how to get it back, I’d really appreciate the info.

  • I’d appreciate anyone telling me where to get it. It’s an unforgettable perfume that, along with YSL’s Champagne, marked an era and olfactory pleasure. I’m from Mexico and haven’t seen it again. No Armani perfume comes close to Giò’s heels.

  • Santal_dream

This perfume has been discontinued, out of production. You only find forgotten bottles in back rooms or among miniature collectors. What a pity…

  • I loved this perfume alongside YSL’s Champagne, my favorites. I haven’t found a scent like it. If anyone could advise something similar, I’d appreciate it.

  • charlotinable

Years ago a friend sold it to me at a ridiculous price, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth it. I smelled it and fell in love. It’s extremely stately, splendid, and of exquisite elegance. I still have a bit more than half, and I use it for very special occasions, since it’s hard to get in China, let alone almost impossible. It’s a beauty that Armani made the mistake of taking off its shelves.

  • I am the happiest person in the world! I found Giò by Armani again. A unique fragrance like few others, elegant, sophisticated, and with terrible longevity.

Years ago, perfumery bewitched us with creations like this. There was a time, not so long ago, when every product from this house was class, glamour, and seduction. An impressive floral that screams femininity to the four winds, made the old-school way, opulent and with innate elegance, more for being than for appearing. Incredibly current, nothing retro despite so many floral notes. In front of Giò, many current proposals look like ugly ducklings compared to a white swan. It has a splendid evolution; after an hour, a delicious, light honey embraces the florals, like the caress of a lover under a velvet blanket after passion, giving it a luminous and slightly liquorish sense. Later, the typical base of the era comes alive: sandalwood, benzoin, and amber as absolute protagonists, revealing the age of this wonderful lady with a powerful magnetism that captures the senses. It has perfect intensity for women who want to stand out in environments demanding image and personality, with notable density and longevity, ideal in cold months to leave a mark. In terms of romance, it offers high sensual charge; it’s striking, suggestive, and tempting, characteristics that complement evening or late-afternoon use if you have someone special. As you know, this elixir is for you. One of the brightest treasures of Italian perfumery, unfortunately hard to find and that outshines today’s niche offerings.

  • One of the best florals of the 90s, sadly eclipsed by its sister Aqua di Gio, which truly achieved glory with the fresh, aquatic trend. Gio launched in 1992, during that 80s/90s transition seeking a tenacious yet relaxed personality. It maintains a certain link to the past, less extravagant, showcasing a seductive woman with deconstructed glamour. It wasn’t for the beach, but for the free and bold woman who enjoys a touch of ostentation. Its scent is unmistakable: an exceptional gardenia that doesn’t suffocate, pulsing with neroli and orange blossom, floral accords of immense richness thanks to Cosmair. This accord has another interesting part: subtle myrrh and clove that wrap the florals with spice and personality. Hyacinth and carnation are noticeable upon deep analysis but don’t dominate. Amber adds warmth and peach brings juiciness. The peach is understated and generates comparisons, but Gio is unique. There’s a similarity with the vintage Wings by Giorgio Beverly Hills (and the current one by Elizabeth Arden). Comparing the first minutes, Wings lacks the spicy aspect of Gio and features lily and lilac, heading in a fresher direction. When dry, both meet at that powdery, sweet white floral sparkle. What a pity it’s discontinued; I suppose a reformulation today would lose much of its magic.

  • I agree it smells very much like 273 Rodeo Drive, even hinting at that plum note that isn’t actually there. Despite being young, I’m open to trying anything; I’ve fallen in love with vintage perfumes like Red Door, Poeme by Lancôme, and Giorgio Beverly Hills, which offer that opulence and emphasis on sweet florals. With Giò, I haven’t completely fallen in love: it starts powerful, floral, and fruity, then drops into a soapy, woody phase that feels clean. I really like it; it’s carefree when dry, but I expected more opulence like the ones I mentioned. It’s a classic that belongs in my collection, and I’ll continue to treasure it alongside my current favorites.

  • They catalog it as floral and fruity… it’s so much more than that: cedar, musk, etc… it’s a party for the senses, an explosion of flowers and more… addictive, sensual, sexy, provocative. The best perfume since it launched in the 90s. For sure, I hope to get one that’s still usable.

  • I agree with many of you. I started using it at 18 and kept it until they discontinued it. It had a very special scent, lasted a long time, and had a spectacular sillage. It wasn’t easy to find someone else wearing it, and that gave it even more exclusivity. Many people asked me what perfume I was wearing; they were speechless, and so was I. You felt special and sexy. Please, Armani, bring it back. It’s been out of reach for many years and is undoubtedly the best Armani has ever had, not just for them but for everyone else. I’ve never been so in love with a perfume as I was with this one. I would buy it without hesitation for the rest of my life.

  • I fell in love with this fragrance; I really loved it. I agree with the previous reviews; it was the best perfume by Giorgio Armani. I never understood why they discontinued it. I wore it on my wedding day because it made me feel special and happy. So far, I haven’t found a perfume I like as much.

  • Marcecandu

The best perfume I’ve ever tried. Robust, present, elegant, and long-lasting. The ultimate collector of compliments. Extreme longevity, magical. What a shame it’s discontinued.

  • Hi! To all the lovers of Gio by Giorgio Armani: after writing my review, I managed to get two 100 ml bottles that are well-preserved with their original scent and color. I loved it and still do. Absolute jewels!

  • CamiPorchelana

Hi! I’m from Argentina and my mom had this since she was a child; I never forgot the scent and I’m looking for something very similar because she passed away and I’d love to recreate it. She used it for special occasions, and I remember its longevity and exquisiteness. Today I bought Ralph Lauren’s Woman, and it has something very similar, just like the green Gio (not the Aqua). I’d appreciate any recommendations for something alike, thanks.

  • A jewel of perfumery (tragically discontinued). I keep about 30 ml and its body cream in the closet like gold. It’s an opulent perfume with peach notes and a sublime sun I can almost smell. But it’s sophisticated and nocturnal (in summer it’s overwhelming, even at night by the open sea…). Armani isn’t what it used to be, nor are many other houses (I don’t want to be melancholic or dramatic), but it’s true. This was high perfumery; it was intoxicating and lavished love wherever you went. That’s why I’m not fooled today by “Joy” or its thousand gimmicks; I pass, because it lacks both the quality and personality of the past. I look for niche fragrances if I can or if it fits my budget, but I can’t do more… The fish is sold, ladies and gentlemen.

  • A great sophisticated and elegant perfume that fits the description of sexy and provocative. I close my eyes and see the 90s: night falls, Gio and you at your best, ready to go out for dinner or a romantic date; familiarly, ready to shine and enjoy. I would love to get one still in good condition.

  • Ximena2025

Without a doubt, it leaves the best sillage of all the perfumes I’ve ever smelled. What a pity they no longer make perfumes with that reach; anyone wearing it is impossible to miss. It smells floral and sweet, ideal for feeling empowered. Some find it annoying because it fills the entire space and feels invasive, but it smells like a field of flowers. It’s a jewel, but it’s no longer available.

  • Lauramelgarejo

I tried it in ’96 and it was a bomb: the longevity and sillage were insane. What a shame they discontinued it; it was one of the best.
