In my obsessive search for discontinued perfumes, I finally found this ultra-rare Freedom by TH. It features a cedar moss with a metallic-blue cypress like I’ve never tried before. The opening is aromatic, with classic ozonic eau de cologne touches, blue and sweet; similar to Davidoff Coolwater, then Aqua Quorum, and Polo Sport. No wonder, since Harry Fremont created those fragrances. It’s a blood brother to them, but with a powerful metallic-ozonic sensation, a virile personality, great versatility, and longevity over 8 hours. At times it reminds me of Egoist Platinum and Quorum Silver. From my perspective, it’s a classic exponent of the American school, a proposition that should never have been dropped. If you liked Polo Sport or Aqua Quorum, here is the cum laude of that era, marked by a virility that no longer exists. One of Tommy’s best; wherever you find it, try it!
This Freedom was a great perfume, but a wolf in sheep’s clothing. It seemed like just another freshie, but it surprised with a heavy, incisive metallic tone. A mix of CK One and Chrome stuffed with amphetamines. It was aggressive, acidic, and astringent, like a disinfectant for very dirty things. I’m surprised anyone thought it fit Hilfiger’s target audience of the time. Freedom for the youth was nothing more than the rebellion of going clubbing in sneakers… I remember seeing it on the shelf: impossible to close the box, always open, threatening, with the chrome cap full of fingerprints. It made me so disgusted… I never used it, and when I did, I couldn’t stand it. Yes, it projected brutally. The only feeling of freedom I had was when I threw it away. Now I regret not saving the bottle, because I’ll end up saying it was a great perfume.
This Freedom was a great perfume, but a wolf in sheep’s clothing. It seemed like a freshie, but it surprised with a heavy, incisive metallic tone. A mix of CK One and Chrome with way too much energy. It was aggressive, acidic, and astringent, smelling like disinfectant for really dirty things. I’m surprised anyone thought it fit Hilfiger’s target audience back then. Freedom for young people wanting to blend in was nothing more than the rebellion of party sneakers… I remember seeing it on the shelf. It was impossible to tuck the plastic tab of the cap into the box to close it. I always saw it open, stiff, and threatening, with the chrome cap covered in fingerprints. It grossed me out… I never wore it, and when I did, I couldn’t stand it. That said, it projected brutally. The only freedom I felt was when I threw it away. Now I regret not keeping the bottle, because to be fair, I’ll end up saying it was a great perfume.
It’s not the best, but it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. Clean, fresh, with a metallic touch.
This fragrance was good, not the current Freedom. It was fresh and long-lasting, like a lemonade with a spicy kick; you could definitely smell the ginger (I can still smell it right now). It was discontinued; I don’t know what the sales criteria were to make that decision. What a pity; it was a very good proposition.
A cousin gifted me this perfume, and I never realized it said ‘for Him.’ I liked it so much that now, knowing it’s a men’s fragrance, I’d say it smells unisex. I never knew I was wearing a man’s perfume; on the contrary, I enjoyed it immensely. What a shame it’s a discontinued gem. Why wouldn’t I use it again even knowing it’s for men?
I first smelled it way back in 1999 and loved it; it seemed very fruity, sweet, and pleasant. Years passed until I ordered it specially from Curaçao. It was still sweet and perfect for everyday wear, and everyone told me how good it smelled. Now it’s hard to find; I think they stopped making it. It brings back good memories.
Freedom for Him by Tommy Hilfiger. What a fragrance! Back in my Tommy fanatic days, early 2000s, I spotted it on their website, so without hesitation, I hit several perfume stores until I found it. What a delight! A scent of cucumber, ginger, and grapefruit, with incredible longevity and a trail so strong that people would come up asking what I was wearing. I got it again when I snagged it on sale at an airport. I miss it. It’s a shame they discontinued one of the freshest perfumes I’ve ever tried. The new reformulation doesn’t even come close. I always regret not saving some from the last bottle. Rating: 10/10
What a fragrance! Back in my Tommy fan days, early 2000s, I saw it come out and without hesitation, I ran to several perfumeries to find it. What a delight! Smells like cucumber, ginger, and grapefruit, with incredible longevity and a sillage so strong people kept asking what I was wearing. I found it later at an airport for a great price. I miss it so much. What a shame they discontinued it; it’s one of the best fresh scents I’ve ever tried. The reformulation doesn’t even come close. I always regret not saving some from the last bottle. Rating: 10/10.
Freedom for Him is a fresh herbal fragment, perfect for an uncomplicated day. It smells good and stands out, but don’t expect magic: it fades quickly and doesn’t make a big impression. If you want something clean and simple, it’s worth it; if you’re looking for projection or complexity, check out other options like Acqua di Gio or Polo Sport.
