Honestly, it just smells like cumin. I was really eager to try it, but upon smelling it, I was left speechless. My joy has turned into a well of disappointment.
Hymn to cumin. I know a perfume with this spice as the star doesn’t usually please almost anyone. It’s not the most elegant, and even in the kitchen, many people can’t stand it, so few venture into spiced dishes. At first, I wasn’t a fan either, but little by little I’ve seen its strong points. The 2013 Femme Rochas isn’t like the one by Mr. Roudnitska that I tested (or at least I don’t feel it is), and it’s not just because of the complexity of that one, but because of the cumin. In the 2013, there are plums and peaches, with the flowers, but all of that goes under the wing of that note which gives it a human, earthly animalism. I don’t smell the kitchen in it, but I admit it might come out a bit too strong, and I’m surprised that nowadays so many women enjoy what Mr. Cresp proposes with this. On the other hand, I know people like it (I’m a fan now) and wear it with joy, whether for personal use or in society. I’d like to recommend it, but it’s hard to find in physical stores and I don’t recommend buying it blindly… unless you like challenges and don’t dislike cumin as the main note.
I’m not backing out, I’m the last to comment and I’m not changing my mind. I got a small bottle of Femme Rochas and after using it, I haven’t changed my tune, though I suspect the product has improved a bit. I absolutely love cumin in perfumes; that’s how I discovered the 2013 version, but the one I bought has softened that note. Even though I specifically looked for a strong presence, I don’t regret it a bit. Maybe they made it more approachable for those who can’t handle cumin, but I must say, even with that note present, my bottle wins on those bone fruits and femininity. It’s for me, I don’t see it as unisex, but I’m super happy because both the one I tested and the one I own are a huge hit. I’m glad I can recommend this version, reformulation, or whatever it is, of Femme Rochas. So, ladies, go ahead and try the 2013. If you don’t like it, that’s fine, but you might get a pleasant surprise.
