  Thanks to my friend chefpepor, I was able to try Epicea, a ‘Vaulted’ fragrance saved for the future. It’s a clean, transparent spice scent that strongly evokes the Eau de Cologne of 1965, when Creed used the name ‘Epice’ to reinvent itself. At first, it deceives with a fresh citrus opening, but soon settles into a sharp, classic ‘barber soap’ vibe. Perhaps it’s the simplest fragrance from the house: as it dries, it reminds me of great classics from Roger & Gallet, Rochas, and Dior, with that 17th-century lavender-clove accord, touched by a non-pungent pine edge that gives it an old-school, pristine, and transparent masculine aura. In my opinion, the performance is a bit below average, hovering around 6 hours, but the notes are very natural and translucent. Its best use is on sunny or mild days, or after a sauna, because it feels very invigorating. It works well for both formal and informal occasions; it’s a safe, classic scent, though nothing groundbreaking. It’s not a must-have, because if you’re looking for something like this, there are proposals like ‘Extra Vieille’ by Roger & Gallet or Eau de Rochas. You make the best decision.
