Descripción

Eau de Givenchy by Givenchy is a floral fragrance for women. Launched in 1980, this composition was created by Daniel Molière and Daniel Hoffmann. The top notes unfold a vibrant freshness with grapefruit, bergamot, mint, mandarin, and various fruity accords. The heart reveals a complex and delicate florality, where valley lily, honeysuckle, narcissus, jasmine, lily root, cyclamen, ylang-ylang, rose, and neroli dance in harmony. Finally, the base notes anchor the structure with the elegance of oakmoss, musk, cedar, and sandalwood.

  • My grandmother, my mother, and I all used this cologne when I was a girl—three generations. I can’t find it anywhere anymore. It’s a fresh and sweet scent where neroli really shone, with great longevity. It always earned compliments. I’d love to be able to wear it again.

  • Hi, I used this perfume and can’t find it anymore. Any recommendations for a current fragrance that’s similar? Best regards from Mexico.

  • My grandmother used to wear this perfume, and I still vividly remember its clean, fresh, and elegant scent.

  • In the 70s, this freshness icon broke away from old school colognes with a chypre twist—something people craved to relax without diving into civet, leather, or aldehydes. Eau de Givenchy arrived a bit late, perhaps overshadowed by the success of Givenchy III, but by the 80s it learned from competitors and forged its own identity: a fruity combo that isn’t overpowered by herbal or citrus notes, featuring muguet, honeysuckle, musk, and a touch of soft lavender. The projection is subtler than others in its style, but the fragrance is incredibly refined and pleasant. Right out of the bottle: sweet mandarin notes, soft bergamot hints, a touch of red fruit, and a very gentle lavender; that’s the general vibe. Yes, there’s a bit of grapefruit, but it’s almost imperceptible compared to the rest; it’s there to add a tiny acidic edge alongside the bergamot, but in my opinion, its finely musky fruity sweetness really stands out. Unlike Chanel Cristalle, Eau de Rochas, or Diorella, the citrus intervention here isn’t prominent, and its olfactive structure is creamier and more subtle, not as sparkling. I’d say the only thing it shares with Diorella is that honeysuckle note. It’s soft, glamorous, from the moment it wakes up until it fades to sleep. My review is about the original splash version with the blue cap; it got relaunched in the 00s (more potent, but smells a bit synthetic) and had another reincarnation in the late 2010s (pleasant, but leans more toward a traditional cologne than the original). It’s rich, soft, elegant, and has everything it needs.
